  1. Just received email from Princess that our Christmas cruise starting on Thursday will have a delayed departure due to an outbreak of noro virus. My question is how likely will the deep cleaning be effective in killing the virus ? And is there any extra protections we can take to reduce our chances of getting the virus ? Thanks for any tips.

  2. DH and I are taking our first cruise on the Ruby Princess over Christmas. We have sailed on many other lines but want to ask if there is anything special not to be missed on the Ruby. Special places, food selections, spa services anything that you enjoyed we would like to hear about. Thanks for your time

  3. Hello hope you all can help. I am a Cunarder through and through but want a Xmas cruise with no flight hassle . Since I am in Los Angeles my choices are Norwegian Jewel or Ruby Princess or Holland America out of San Diego.

My problem is the DH wants to make sure he has a "traditional" Xmas dinner. I think he'll survive without the Xmas pudding but he does want the roast turkey and all the trimmings.

Any thoughts you have as compared to the Queens would be appreciated. Thanks

  4. I always buy a small item that can be hung on the Xmas tree. Sometimes a key chain, a small doll or toy. Or whatever I find in my travels so that every year when we trim the tree we can say remember that day ......

  5. Hello,

I have a question regarding the Cunard website. You used to be able to see which officers were aboard. I have played around but can no longer find the info. Is it still available ? And if so what is the trick. Thanks for your help

  6. Hello and welcome and I hope you will enjoy your QM2 sampler cruise. There should be at least one session of ballroom dancing each night to a live band. There will also be pre-recorded dance music at other times in the ballroom. On a 4 day cruise you may have one "ball". This just means that there will be one of the cruise entertainment staff "hosting" the evening and there my be a social dancing "game" of sorts.

There are dance classes, very basic, on any sea day of the cruise. You might also have an afternoon Tea Dance. While the regular tea is being served in the Queens Room, the band is there and you can get up and dance while experiencing afternoon Tea. Not to be missed if they have one !

Good luck and enjoy the voyage.

  7. Hello ! I am headed on a fjords cruise aboard the QM2 and we will be visiting the North Cape. Is it a "must see" to take the bus out to the ice caps ? I really do not want to spend the $132.00 but is it something I will regret if I just stay around in the port area ?

What actually is at the North Cape and does it live up to the hype ? Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks.

  8. Like other posters, I too believe that your service level goes up if you treat the staff as indiiduals rather than "servants". Often on trips in ports I will bring back some little thing like chocolate or other local candy and give to the steward and the wait staff that evening. But tips should be for service above and beyond. If you work in a service orientated business you should know in advance that you have to go the extra mile for the extra cash.
