  1. I am also a trans woman. My family (me, wife, and two daughters) just got back from a cruise with HAL. HAL is very LGBT friendly. I felt that being trans had no impact on the cruise other than being extended extra friendliness to us by some gay fellow passengers. We had a really nice time.

Being transgender doesn't usually something that comes up but sometimes it does. We shared a table with a wonderful (gay) couple. We ended up spending a nice cruise having dinner with them and became friends. The only "interesting" thing that happened is when they asked about our relationship ("are you sisters?" ) When asked about our girls I did share that I was the girls father. They laughed thinking I was joking. They meant no harm they just had no experience that that is a possibility. We did talk about what it means to be transgender.

I have never attended a LGBT get together on a cruise but did this time because our friends were attending and they encouraged me to attend. I was welcomed by the gay men that attended and it was nice to talk with them as we crossed paths on the cruise/ports. Our daughters got to know one of them who was also traveling with his parents.

This sort of thing is why I have decided to be out when needed. To remove the unknown of the trans experience.

We have also sailed Celebrity and would also recommend them for being LGBT friendly. I hope you enjoy whatever you choose!

  2. Hi we are cruising NCL in Jan . Has anyone used this service to have their luggage sent to the airport after their cruise?

We have a late flight and would like to spend the day in Nola but we do not want to lug our luggage around with us.

We just want to know if they are a reliable service.

Or...what do you do with your luggage? Where do you store it when you have a late flight? Thanks

    Terri

  3. My sister and I are going on a cruise in June on the Gem and would love to get a copy of your word document when it is done. We have cruised in the past on the Dawn and the Spirit. One more question I have. When you eat at the buffet for breakfast and lunch, you mentioned you can go over to La Cucina to find a seat. Does anybody try to make you leave or is it just common knowledge that you may go in to the restaurant and eat. Any help you can be will be very much appreciated. My e-mail address is lecroizier@gmail.com

There is a sign with an arrow pointing the way. It is used for overflow seating at breakfast and lunch time.

  4. This is my second eastern Caribbean cruise, the first only went to Nassau. My problem is on our Allure of the Seas cruise coming up in May, I have 1 day in St.Thomas and 1 day in St. Martin. The two things I want to do is shop one day and go to a beach with calm water on the other. So, shopping in St Martin and beach at St Thomas or vice versa? Any help would be appreciated. :)

You can do both on each island.

St Martin has a beach right in the main shopping area.

St Thomas you can go to the beach and then shop downtown. The cruise dock at havensight in st Thomas also has shops.

  5. This is a great thread! Thanks for starting it!

We are two couples sailing on the Gem in April and are newbies to NCL having previously sailed with Celebrity and Princess.

I had read somewhere on the Message Boards that it is possible to wait until the last minute to disembark in NYC and just walk off rather than

waiting in long lines to disembark. Since we live in NJ we will be driving home, we'd like to have a leisurely last day on the cruise. Is this possible to do? Are you given a specific time to disembark (colors, numbers, etc.) or can you choose your time?

Do they collect ALL suitcases before disembarking or can you carry yours off when you want to?

    Thanks again!:)

My husband and I always take the last color for getting off the ship.

We love the way ncl let's you stay anywhere on the ship. No waiting in predetermined areas.

We enjoy a leisurely breakfast and hang out ... Very relaxing.

Last two times we disembarked around 10:30- 11:00.
