  1. Hi, in the past, pre UBP, we would order a bottle of wine and a bottle of sparkling water.

On our next cruise we have the UBP, I know that we have to order wine by the glass, but can we order sparkling water(by bottle/glass) on the UBP?

Would the bar tender get upset if we order two drinks each, a glass of wine and a glass of sparkling water?

  2. I also went for the 7 pm opening time, where the was a small queue, but once inside we moved at our own pace and it soon thinned out. What I did find is by the time I got to the end, the extra rooms (there was one filled with pope mobiles I wanted to see) were closed. I don't know if this was a one off, or the are usually shut in the evening.

  3. It on a Wednesday, my son wants to get to the papal audience.

So if he gets off at 6am, on the first port shuttle to the Turco entrance, is it still about a 10 minute walk to the station. (I am not certain the buses will be running at that time of the morning).

So he could aim for the 6.40 or 7.02 train into st peters, he will have no luggage, leaving it all with us to drag off at a more leisurely pace after we have had breakfast. We are planning on getting transport arranged from outside the baggage reclaim area to our apartment, which will let us drop the luggage off at lunch time.

  4. Hi,

In May we will be docking at Civitavecchia port at 6am on the NCL Epic.

I know there is talk of a temporary stop, but not sure it it will still be there in May, but I wondered what would be the earliest train out of Civitavecchia to St Peters we would be able to make? We are in a Haven Suite, so could be one of the first ones let off.

    Thanks

  5. Hi,

We are going to be in an two bedroom haven suite in May

I will quite happily put on a dress or a smart top and long trousers and DH is happy to pack trousers and a couple of shirts, but we are bringing our twenty something children with us.

Son lives in t'shirt and jeans, sometimes with a baggy over shirt and daughter is independent, her dress sense is not always as 'convential' as mine, not outragouus just free spirited.

Do I have to go on a shopping spree before the cruise to buy them clothes they would not normally wear?

Is there different dress code for the courtyard grill and the restraunt?

    Are they the same menu?

  6. Hi

I have booked a 2 bedroom suite on the Epic for May. There will be Me and DH in main bedroom, DD(28) in the second bedroom and DS(26) on the Sofa. Son does not need much in the way of bedding, would probably be happy sleeping in a sleeping bag on the Sofa.

In the 2nd bedroom, do they turn the Sofa into a bed each night and back into a Sofa during the day, or do they leave it as a bed for the duration of the cruise.

Main Sofa same question, do the turn it into a bed each night and back into a Sofa for day use?

    Thanks

    Heather

  8. Hi, we are docking in Civiavecchia on Wednesday the 3rd June on the NCL Epic at 6 am, we are in a suite so get preferential disembarkation.

Do you think it would be possible for my 26 year old son to

    • Get the 7.02 or 7.19 train from Civitavecchia
    • Get off at St Peters station and go to the Bronze doors for a ticket
    • And get into the Papal Audience

He will have hand luggage with him (mainly a laptop), will this be a problem?

He should get to the Bronze doors about 9am, will they still have tickets or do they run out?

The rest of us will depart at a ore leisurely pace and take all the luggage to an apartment near St Peters Station and then walk to St Peters to meet him after the Audience.

  9. That is exactly what i thought, we (family of 4, two grown up children) are stopping in Rome for a few extra nights after the cruise. I have opted for a three bedroom apartment with washing machine. I have found a nice apartment via HomeAway (it was also on VRBO) one block from St Peters Train Station. I have been to Rome a couple of times and have walked from St Peters to St Peters train station, so opted for here as I wanted to spend a lot of time in the Vatican Area this visit.

You might want to consider an apartment near Trastevere or Ostience stations, which are on both the Airport and the Port train lines, so easy to get to either.
