  1. Thank you for all the details (and even the newsletter and menu!) We'll be on the Visionary June 12th heading south down the Rhine, and you've answered so many questions and have made us excited (and less nervous) about our trip!

Only one question: Would you say it would be easy for us to walk (or take a cab) to  local sites if we don't want to take the included early morning tours?

Again, great thanks. Hope the rest of your travels are easy and happy ones.

  2. My husband and I are booked on an Avalon Rhine cruise in mid-June to celebrate his 80th birthday. We have taken more than 20 ocean cruises (the last pre-pandemic in late 2019  from Amsterdam around Gibraltar to the Mediterranean). We have always done our own sightseeing excursions, pre-planned or winging it.

With this river cruise, our excursions are included, most of them departing the ship at 8:30 AM. Our problem is that my husband may need extra "intestinal time" after breakfast.

So we're wondering: if we leave the ship later, can we get ourselves by foot or cab to Cologne cathedral, the Gutenberg museum, Strasbourg, etc. and back on our own?

Very grateful for any experience, ideas or advice. 🙂

  3. I'm unable to post this review anywhere else as the ship / company is not listed in the CC database. I was told to put my review on the message board.

The 4 day Yangtze River cruise was part of a 15 day package from Sinorama Holidays that included Beijing, Xian, Chongqing, Shanghai and all points in between. This is a review of the Yangtze River cruise portion of the total package. Our Yangtze River route was Chongqing to Jingzhou. There is also a reverse route.

THANKS TO BOTTOMSHELF HOCKEY for the substantive and detailed review of the Yangtze River Cruise. (We leave on Sinorma 20-day China a week from today.) You gave us lots of help to get ready for the cruise part. :D

  4. Anyone know how to get Royal Carib to listen/care about a Lost item?

I've phoned their Lost & Found number twice. Once I was on hold for half an hour. The other time a woman answered, I told her I had info that might help a passenger get back a lost camera. She took my phone number, rushed me off the phone before I could give her any info, and said she'd call me back.

Here's the info I wanted to give her:

Leaving the 1/31/15 Jewel of the Seas voyage on 2/7, I got into a taxi at the kiosk at San Juan port, and found a camera in a case on the back seat. I handed it to a young woman taxi dispatcher for Taxi Touristico (the only taxi company at the port) and asked her to get it to the ship. I thought it must have been lost by someone going on the 2/7 sailing, but the taxi driver said later he hadn't brought anyone to the ship, so it must have been left by someone from the 1/31 sailing whom he took to the airport earlier.

I thought this info might help the owner get their camera back from the ship or taxi company. How can I get Royal to take this info and see if it matches a report of a lost camera by a 1/31 Jewel passenger?
