  1. You also can get a discounted price on CLEAR if you are a Delta sky miles member. I didn't know this when I initially signed up and wasn't very happy when Clear refused to honor my membership after the fact. None the less, the CLEAR service can be a real time saver at some airports, like Denver.

I was able to get the discount after the fact. I called Clear and they credited my card the difference when I found out I could get a reduced rate. Only had to give them my Skymiles #. Did you call or e-mail?

I would love to try Clear out of Seattle since we have a relatively early flight. We are also sailing out of NYC (LGA) at the end of Sept. Do you happen to know if this promotion is available every month. Thinking if I could use this in July I could also use again in Sept. Thanks for the answers

I get e-mails from Clear with this promo quite often. I just looked back and I get one at least every three months. Sometimes every month or two.

CLEAR was around before Pre-Check. I know at SFO it only works at international departures.

I fly out of SFO and Clear is up and running in all terminals, including domestic. With bay area traffic as bad as it is, it's a huge time saver. Especially when the Pre-Check line is just as long as the regular line.

  2. We are cruising on Celebrity this Friday the 5th and will be staying the night before at the Doubletree Biscayne Bay. We booked a king room with bay view. I can post some pictures and check out the restaurants there if you like?

I would be interested to know where the king/bay view balcony rooms are located. I can't tell from the photo on their website if there are rooms that directly face the bay, or if all the rooms are located on the long sides.

  3. I traveled solo in a balcony on the Escape in May. The 1st night's solo gathering was somewhere else on the ship. The coordinator met us there and then took the group to the studio lounge where we met every night thereafter. She said the studio lounge door would be open each night during the get together, and it was. Had such a great time on that cruise, I booked a balcony again for next May.

I've cruised solo in studio's and balconies. I have no complaints with the studio cabins, I just love to spend time out on the balcony. On cruises where I stayed in studio cabins, the only time I went to the lounge was for the nightly solo gathering.

If the price is right, I'd book the balcony.

  4. I've searched and can't find an answer to this. Breakaway returns at 8:00 am on Sun. 5/22/16. A flight leaves JFK at 11:40 am, 1st class so short check-in line, I've got TSA Pre Check. Is it unreasonable for me to make this flight if no delays debarking on time doing early walk off with my bags?

  5. Several years ago I learned about a shop from folks on our CC Roll Call called Made in Roatan. It's located in the shopping area just outside of the cruise port entrance. Everything they sell is made from the residents of Roatan.

No matter what you pick up in the store to inquire about, the shop owner can tell you all about who made it and their background. I purchased a beautiful carving that, to this day, is one of my favorite purchases in all my travels. Their prices are not expensive, and they give the money made back to the artist.

Most tour operators will ask if you want to be dropped off in the shopping area or at the port. It's just a short walk from there to the ship.

  6. Just back from breakaway today. Love the ship. My third time on her never gets old. Just a couple FYIs. Had dinner in cagneys asked if I could take my desert. Waiter said he would check thinks they changed back policy. When he came back we were told they would send it to my cabin, no problem. O'Sheehans has a to go area for you to take your food. Was told by the host they changed the policy back again. So all is good food wise.

Was in an M6 mini suite large balcony 8134. Great balcony and bathroom. Balcony had 2 loungers, 2 chairs and a large table when we arrived. Our room steward Owen was fabulous. Always working and available. We made sure we tipped him well. Great guy.

Casino was not as crowded as in my past cruises. I was always able to get a machine I wanted or table. No huge wins this cruise from what I saw. There certainly were lots and I mean lots of people smoking just hanging around they were not playing no one said anything to them about it. Convenient locations to smoke on deck 8 waterfront by Maltings, deck 15 pool bar and enclosed area, vibe bar and spice H2O also allowed smoking by bar area.

Lots of chair hogs were in full force. Very crowded on sea days. Bermuda was a bust. Weather was horrible. Very very windy. Went to horseshoe beach snd got sand blasted. Also went to snorkel park beach and basically the same thing. There is free wifi at Bonefish Grill in bermuda port. Food was fabulous everywhere we ate. I strongly suggest making reservations before your cruise because it was impossible to get a table for Le bistro for any night and there were just 2 of us. Other restaurants had limited times available but were able to eat at cagneys, LaCucnia, tepanyaki and Modernos. MDR was also very good. Only place that kind of left a lot to be desired was O'Sheehans. Got a corn beef sandwich and it had one slice of corn beef on it lol really? Didn't bother to complain I still ate it. Wings were terrible they were soggy I like them crispy. Other than that breakfast was good in there. Burgers great at uptown grill. Buffet nice. Variety for breakfast s and lunch. Actually made it to Modernos for breakfast buffet fabulous alternative to buffet.

I also had a fantastic time on the cruise! We heard the reports from beachgoers on the 1st port day about how bad it was, so we stayed clear of the beaches this trip.

Booked a cabana in Vibe. The weather was great up there on the 1st sea day. But the other sea days were very windy. If I didn't have a cabana I don't think I would have spent as much time there.

Thanks again for organizing the meet and greet & slot pull. Great idea to skip the Wheel of Fortune and choose the other machine. It was nice walking away with a win!

  7. I don't know how they do it at all the embarkation terminals. In the NYC and Boston terminals, you will have the opportunity to purchase a SPA Pass in the waiting are prior to boarding. We have done so the past 3 cruises.

I've sailed out of NY twice and don't remember seeing this. Where is it located? By the front entrance?

  8. lmaooo well heck with the amout of interest like Rochelle says we might have to get two garden villas

    Hi Geri

I'm Laura on your Breakaway cruise in May. Saw this and I only had time to skim thru the entire thread. Not quite sure what's being planned, but I'm interested in going in on a GV. I get Harrah's Tahoe & Vegas land based comps for my cruises. Is this something where everyone interested pools their comps and NCL gives the best price on the GV?

  9. If booking with a free cruise cert. from Caesars, where you only pay port fees & taxes, can you get this promo?

I'm not interested in the UBP since I already get free drinks in the casino. But would be interested in the UDP.

  10. Can I buy the Vibe passes for myself and someone not in my cabin? Will they charge me for both? I have Latitudes priority check in but my sister does not and I am thinking that I may be able to get on earlier than she will - or will we all be in the same boarding group?

So stressful - isn't cruising supposed to be relaxing??

    Thanks

    Susan

Not sure about the boarding group question. But when I was in line for Vibe, there was someone behind me who wanted to buy passes for others in her group. I can't remember if they told her that each person had to be there with their card in order to buy, or if she needed to have a card for each person. She was on her phone frantic to get everyone to the line with their cards.

  11. How do you find out which cruises have someone scheduled other than the regular cruise performers? Does this happen often? Not the Sixthman cruises, but one with a single performer, or a single band, that has a couple of performances on the ship. I have no desire to see Joan Rivers, but I would consider a cruise with someone I wanted to see.

  12. Depending on when you cruise, the Everglades tour MIGHT NOT be available. We are in a major fire hazard time in Florida and as of this morning the Everglades are burning. The major problem would be the smoke! We live in Sarasota and the smoke is making it this far right now. It is only 10% contained at the moment. Until we get more rain, you might want to consider another option just in case.

We sail on 5/31. I had heard of the fires there, but didn't really know the locations. Thanks for the info.

  13. We're on the Liberty 5/31 for our first Western Caribbean cruise! We're from Calif. so we've only done Mexico before. Needless to say, we are very excited!

Our flight back on 6/7 is not until 4:30 pm. The thought of not having to deal with our luggage, and being dropped at the airport after the tour is appealing to us, so we were thinking of booking one of the ship's Miami excursions. Our choices are the Everglades Tour and the South Beach/Island Queen tour.

Anyone know the details about either one, or recommend either one?

TIA. 16 days and counting! :)

  14. I am ... Kyle is actually my name but Im definatley a woman! I love these boards for all of the great ideas and money saving tips.

I belong to this one and to the DIS boards about disney and have save SO much money when we cruise and when we go to disney.

And yes, I too will be enjoying a labadozee instead of paying for a mat!

krmlaw - I belong to DIS, too. I can't believe how much time and money we've saved there. This Sept. will be our 4th year of free dining.

I'm new to this board, but I'm already compiling a notebook of great information, so even though this is my first RCL cruise, I'll feel like a veteran when I board

Regarding bringing your own mats to Labadee, does anyone have as much trouble blowing them up as I do? I've tried it camping a few times, but now resort to the air compressor that plugs into the car lighter. I'd really like to save the $$ by bringing our own, but don't want to spend my morning trying to inflate my mat  and miss out on critical relax time :)
