1. Thanks for the warning about visas being required in some countries! As you can tell from from my signature, we have not traveled to far from US. But, we are starting to think about expanding our cruise itineraries and will keep the visas requirements in mind before booking for sure.

I will say that the one Med cruise we did in 2009, Princess took care (while we were onboard the cruise) of the visa we needed to get off in Egypt and tour the pyramids. Guess we got lucky!

2. Good morning everyone,

Like Shari, I typed a long message and lost everything. This site times you out after so long...that was depressing to loose.

Anyway, I hope everyone had a nice weekend. This morning was wiegh in time for me (I only weigh once per week) and I lost another 1.5 pounds. I just ended week number 12 on Atkins and have a total wight loss of 12% so far. My target is 13% by cruise, which gives me only a couple weeks left.

I am not going to retype the entire message, but take my word....the post was really good and encouraging for everyone. Thanks for everyones support. I will try to write more latter today.

Got to run to work now....

Stay the course everyone.....this diet really does work...
3. Morning everyone,

Well, just 3 weeks until we leave for Florida to get on the ship!! We are starting to get excited. I am in week 12 for Atkins with about 2 1/2 weeks to go. And just to be honest with everyone, I will not be on a diet on the ship. I will just have to start induction again when I get home.

I only weigh once per week because I don't want that emotional up and down during the week. And that could get me depressed and I don't need that!!

You are doing great Tiersaj!!

Roadtripster - You have more will power than I if you can pick out the noodles. It is just best I don't open up the can!! I do have some beef or chicken bouillon when I want something hot to drink at a meal. Not much for hot tea or coffee during a meal (unless of course the coffee is in conjunction with a sweet dessert...and I can't do that)

Sports-mom - think water and water, even when I am not thirsty. Just drink !!

My favorite candy - Peanut M/M's....I can take a small bag and enjoy them for an hour (no kidding). I might have to get a small back when I get to the airport in a few weeks!!

Stay the course this weekend all!! This does work.
4. Good afternoon,

Sports-mom - are you on induction? Looks like you are eating a very minimal carb load for the day. Plus, the exercise - looks like you are doing the right thing for sure!! With all the treadmill miles and workouts, you have to be loosing the fat and gaining muscle.... and muscle does weighs more. I do see that you are having a hard time with drinking water. I think that is a key that you should concentrate on !!

Sometimes I wonder if we can keep our carb load too low??? I don;t know...

Roadtripster - I am curious what kind of soup you have? I have never been able to find a soup that was low enough on carbs?

Well, time to go eat dinner...some chicken salad in a low carb tortilla wrap

Stay the course everybody!!
5. Hi everyone....

I haven't posted in a while, but wanted to stop by to see how everyone was doing and it looks like everyone is keeping up the great work. I am so envious that y'all have the will power to do the exercising. I can get my mind set to stay on the diet to the letter, but I jut can't get in the excercise mode.

Welcome tiersaj...good luck with you meeting your goal. Since you have done it before, I know that you can do it again. I am just glad to see that there is someone else that eats pork skins !! I thought I might be the only one. They do meet my need of getting a crunch...I miss crackers so badly. I can't eat the pork skins when my wife is around...she just absolutley hates their smell. But she is also doing well on Atkins (8% wieght loss) as well and it makes it so easy for me at home to stay on the diet because she makes some really great Atkins meals.

I have continued to drop a couple of more pounds over the past week, totaling an 11.5% weight loss so far. I don't know if I can make my 13% goal by cruise time (less than 4 weeks away now), but I am going to continue to try.

Good luck to all....just stay with the plan....I believe in it!!

6. Donnaholder - 144 miles per hour...wow!! Sorry for the bad memories, but I understand completely. That would dramatize anyone.....

It is amazing how a day can be so bad for one person, but mean something completely different to another...St. Patricks's just happens to be my birthday. But, I am so old, it really is just another day to me now.

6 pounds the first week was great!! Getting on the scales and seeing that kind of weight loss, is always a good incentive for me to keep on going.

I saw you talking about fixing pasta for the family. As far as pasta, I wanted to make a suggestion after you get past induction.....my wife buys Dreamfields Pasta for us. We don't have it often, but once week it is really nice to get a pasta fix. The nutritional facts say that the serving size is 3/4 cup with digestable carbs at 5 grams with a glycemic index of 13. Check it out to see if that might work for you....then you can join the family with eating some pasta. It really taste good to me. By the way, we have some friends (the husband really loves his pasta) and the wife fixed this pasta for her husband without him knowing and he never said anthing...he did not even realize a difference !!

Cerebella - we have been lucky enough to be able to always stay away from cruising during the hurricane months. Sorry to hear about your bad experiences. Hope you are able to get something booked for later in the year and have a wonderful time!!

Sports-mom - I am not good on knowing snacks, but I do simpole things like low carb Atkins bars, cheese, or just beef sticks. And as far as ice cream, I know that they is nothing out at a ballpark that would be for us low carb folks. But I have found and do keep in the freezer for dessert at nights my ice cream bars made by Blue Bunny. They are blackberry icecream with a chocolate outside. And only 1 net carb.....wonderful treats!!

Continued good luck to all. Time to go get a wrap out and make a ham and cheese wrap !!

Later....
7. NMCruzzin,

The wraps we order on line from www.latortillafactory.com.

The web site says 5 grams net carbs, but the information below is found on the nutritional facts on the bag

Couldn't do Atkins without them!!

18 grams carbs
12 grams fiber
(6 ECC)
8 grams protein

8. Hi All,

Just happened on your thread and wanted to add my support to everyone on Adkins!! I am a big guy and have been on a lot of diets off and on my entire adult life. When I was an athlete, burning the calories was easy, but as soon as I stopped playing, the weight just poured on me. I do like to eat!!

I have been successful on low fat diets, WW, and Adkins. Adkins seems to be the easiest for me to drop weight quickly. My problem is the life style change to keep the weight off. I usually just go up and down.....again, I like to eat!!

My story - I am getting ready for cruise in mid-April. So, I started my Adkins diet 9 weeks ago today. This morning I weighed - I have lost 11% of my starting body weight so far with my target being 13% loss!! I have about 4 weeks before the cuise. Adkins does work for me well. I stay really low in carbs though....always under 45 a day, but most of the time under 35. I know that it is not exactly what Adkins says to do, but it works for me and I feel great.

I see some talk about diet sodas. I drink several a day and I do drink a couple of cups of coffee in the morning. And (I know it is bad) - I have done this without exercise....I should start though.

The low carb wraps ( 6 carbs)are the savior for me... I wrap everything in those tortilla wraps!! I wrap the eggs and bacon in the morning, and the ham and cheese or turkey for lunch and the steak or chicken for dinner. I live in the South, so to get that crunch that I have read that others are missing - I eat pork skins, but they are not for everyone !! I will say that I have not knowingly cheated on this diet one time in the past 9 weeks.....I think that is a big key to success on Atkins.

Good luck to everyone....stay the course. Adkins really works!!!

I can't wait for my first buffet meal on the cuise!!

Bubba
