  1. Hello! I just saw this. I’m blushing here! 😊 Thanks for the motivation to blog again when we leave mid-October. Our plans have changed already (of course they have!), but we are starting in Southampton on October 21.

I've been looking forward to your blog this year as well! Happy travels!

  2. We are travelling with Princess, i think I will get very well acquainted with laundromats across the world :-)One trick I have learned from our many previous trips is that rolling rather than folding is brilliant as it keeps the creases down and waves room. I also love vacuum pack bags. also washing by hand and rolling in a towel to squeeze water out then pop on a hanger and when they are nearly dry smooth into shape and blow with a hairdryer....worked well when in Australia last year when i couldn't access an iron either.

We use a "scrubba" wash bag for hand laundry and it works great! https://www.amazon.com/Scrubba-Portable-Laundry-System-Light/dp/B00BUI7HFC/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1489073879&sr=8-2&keywords=scrubba+wash+bag

  3. We just got off the Royal today.... Sitting in FLL airport now.

I wanted to pass on that we were told by the staff at the captains circle party that both Alaska 2017 AND Europe 2017 would open for booking on December 3, 2015. I know this is much earlier than in prior years. :)

    YAY! Thanks for the info!:D

  4. I called Princess this morning trying to book the BVE for Saturday on the Grand. Unfortunately, it has to be booked 6days in advance. Bummer! It would be a great way to see the festivities away from the throngs that will line the Embarcadero. Not to mention an extra two hours on board due to the later 6:00pm departure. I'm just a few days too late! :(

I called a couple of weeks ago to book the BVE for my daughter and son-in-law, I was told it was full and there was no waiting list. I wonder how many people they allow.

  5. Hi, we are on 32 day cruise from LA to Venice. Did not realise it is a B2B cruise when we booked it. Have noticed one of the segments is from Fort Lauderdale to Venice. My question is to the knowledgeable CC experts is:-

Would two of our friends (Canadians) be eligible to meet us (Australians) as part of the BVE in Fort Lauderdale? I have read about the BVE on Cruise Critic but for the life of me can not find any information on the Princess web site. Thanks.

I just reserved the BVE for our daughter the other day (we are sailing out of SF.) I called Princess to reserve it because I couldn't find it on their website. I ended up talking to two different reps, they were both quite nice. I was put on hold, but not for long.

  6. I am going on Celebrity Eclipse in June: my first "posh"cruise"! I am so worried that I will be over dressed on Formal nights!

    Am I being silly?

I had hoped to lose weight, but due to illness, it didn't happen, so I have hired 3 dresses. I thought that was a good idea! Instead of spending lots of money on dresses I will never wear again!

Now I am worried that one of them is far too dressy! It's quite a big dress and although I love it, and would never have bought it, price wise, it's a girls( I am 53 this week!) dream and now I fear I am being a bit daft!

Also I need a suitcase just for the 3 dresses I have hired! Is that ok? We aren't flying as sailing from Southampton!

I am in a panic and due to anxiety problems, I don't want this to ruin my otherwise very happily anticipated cruise for our 30th wedding anniversary,( not until Sept but son is getting married then! )

Would appreciate your opinions. I know not everyone gets dressed up!

I think you should wear the dresses, enjoy them and not worry. :)

  7. My daughter and I have chosen these dress's for the two formal nights on out upcoming cruise.

Royal Caribbean, Sydney to Tasmania, it's a 10 night cruise so we will have two formal nights.

The long dress's are the two I have chosen, the short dress's are what my daughter has chosen.

Could you let me know if you think they are "too" formal?

    Thank you.

Also my son has picked this outfit, he is 12, but not a normal 12 year old, he is on the autistic spectrum and is about the size of a 7 year old.

Would this be suitable for him?

    Thank you.

Those dresses are beautiful! Who cares if everyone else is in jeans, your family will look fabulous!

  8. Now, there is a 5th option to consider, as well...during several years of being stationed ("posted") in southeast Asia, I did observe many locals living on "sandpans" just sitting cross-legged on deck and happily washing their clothing in the Mekong River. That might be a unique "marketing photo" for Avalon to show all the passengers sitting on deck together, as we cruise down the Rhine - being served "complimentary wine" while we all merrily wash our clothes during the "off hours"!

    Hilarious!:)
