  1. great question and we are traveling in a few days with a toddler too. I am steering to Jack's bc I think Margaritaville will be too populated and I heard the pool isn't very deep which may be a bit boring for my other kiddos.

  2. we will be there in a few weeks - November - and it looks like it is best to make this a beach day. if so, where do we go to find chairs? are their clam shells? my mother needs some shade. also i read somewhere but in an old, old post there is a splash pad for the kids? is this walkable from beach?

also some made me concerned that the beach is a long walk from the port - is this so? both my parents are in their 70's, and my dad is recovering from cancer. would it be ridiculous to take a cab to the beach? cabanas are not an option as they are sold out on Carnival website.

  3. we have 3 kids under 7 years old and my parents with us

love the idea of the beach and aquarium - are they in close proximity? can you do both? i have no idea what the aquarium is like, how large or massive and how far from the beach. also is there a pool?

  4. We do the British colonial day pass with my kids. Pool, beach, food and drinks available. There is also a pirate museum in walking distance. I also will not take my kids in a car on the islands without a car seat for my 3year old or a booster for my 7 year old. Accidents happen. Most of those vehicles don’t even have seatbelts....I am not willing to risk it when they are so little...

If the vehicles do not have seat belts how do you restrain the car seats? I understand the booster doesn't need one but the car seats will.

  5. Blue Lagoon beach. I wouldn't take my 4 year old in a traditional taxi in Nassau under any circumstances, which limits you to things that have a water taxi/ferry. Blue Lagoon is an excellent spot and it's exactly where we take our 4 year old :)

why would you not put your kids in a Taxi in Nassau? Is it dangerous?

How do you get to Blue Lagoon and what is so wonderful about it? Thanks for any info.

  6. Just checking to see if this beach is still recommended for a family with small children? It had MIXED reviews on trip advisor some noting it was run down.

    What is the current state?

Also, how much and how long is the cab ride from the port to here?

I would like to do the butterfly farm and the beach.

Someone also noted the riding farm - my girls are OBSESSED with horses - any activities for them there?

  7. Once you get off the ship is there any shopping or sightseeing right there in walking distance?

Would like to go to a beach and then do a bit of souvenir shopping on our way back. Wondering if I can do this at the port or need to get a taxi to go else where.

    Thanks!

  8. Researching which beach to go to with my family which includes little kids. My girls are OBSESSED with turtles but I do not feel comfortable taking them out on a catamaran at this toddler age.

I read that we may be able to see turtles from Allynes beach or Piane's bay, Carlisle bay.

We will be in town in one week.

Are either of these locations good to hang for a few hours with calm waters, access to amenities for a family?

Do either REALLY provide a visual of the turtles?

How far are any from the cruise port?

  9. About how long a cab ride from the cruise port to coki beach?

Also, can cabs accommodate car seats here? If so, when I got to the beach, where would I put the car seat - my our lounge chair?

If we forgo car seats, will a cab take us still with two little ones?

  10. We leave this weekend for our cruise and I am very behind in our planning!

Looking for recommendations on which beach which be best for a family (kids ages 2 & 4) and why?

Also, how long a drive to the beaches you recommend from the cruise port appreciated as well!

    Thanks!

  11. Staying 2 nights before cruise and 2 nights after cruise.

Having heart burn over the costs!

Regardless, looking for a hotel with a great pool and beach. Prefer a hotel that offers a suite so we can put the little ones to bed and not have to sit in the dark in whisper being in one room.

Any suggestions? I know the Embassy Suites comes up a lot for families but is there a beach on the property? If not, how far is the walk? And are their restaurants in walking distance.

Already familiar with the intercontinental but looking too pricey. For a 2 night stay in a suite it would be almost $1000

  12. How does Laundry work on the cruise? If you need to do some laundry are their washing machines/dryers - if so, how much per load?

Or do you have the option of leaving a bag to be washed in your room and is this expense dramatically higher?

  13. I did not want to have to travel with them but it is appearing more so that we will have to bring them along. For example, arriving in San Juan, PR and going to the hotel - that alone we can't do without a car seat.

I have seen brief mention made of travel, light weight car seats - would rather that than travel with our very heavy, very expensive car seats...Suggestions?

  14. After a lot of reading I am thinking the best "excursion" for us in St. Thomas is to visit Coral World and then walk down to Coki. I love that my kids can have the chance to see so many fish with just putting some googles on not having to go out on a catamaran.

Here are my questions though -

If we do Coral World first (approx. arrive at 9/9:30 AM) will we not be able to find a comfortable spot on Coki as I read that it gets crowded around 11:30 which would likely be the time we get down to the beach?

Online it says that our cruise ship is in port from 7 - 5 pm (another poster said he saw a change from 7 - 3 pm. If the time is cut that short I assume we will likely not have time for both coral and coki?)

*I know we could get off ship earlier however we don't depart until 10 PM the night before from the US and it is likely my kids will be exhausted and need a bit of rest.

If we bring car seats for the cab do we then lug the car seats with us to coral and then coki or do we trust the cab driver to keep them in his cab? Or is there another mode of transportation like a bus we can consider?

Any help appreciated! And my kids are young 2.5 & 4.5 and we will be there on Nov. 23

  15. We will have our 2.5 and 4.5 year olds with us. Although I would love to do the turtle snorkel with them, I think they would be a bit fearful of the open water, no shore close by.

The 4.5 can swim on her own, no floaties etc. The 2.5 uses floaties but bounces up and down under water fine etc.

I am wondering if there is any beach that I can give them the opportunity to snorkel and see fish by walking/swimming in a shallow part or not too far off the coast.

We will be in Barbados in November if that makes a difference.

    Thanks
