  1. Having done a few fly cruises in the Easter and Western Med with no hint of sea sickness I thought I didn't suffer from it until my first cruise from Southampton in May last year. On the evening of the first sea day while sailing in the Bay of Biscay I was violently ill, which I thought at first might have been caused by something I'd eaten or one cocktail too many, however I was fine for the rest of the 14 night cruise until we hit the dreaded BoB again coming home and I was violently ill again. The strange thing is the sea didn't seem particularly rough. This year I won't be taking any chances on my Caribbean fly cruise in November and will be reading this thread carefully to decide which medication to take before I sail!

  2. I had one of these C deck balconies on Ventura last summer. It was great - very large and you are only part overlooked at the front. There was plenty of room to sit in privacy and still enjoy the sun :)

  3. I've sailed on Navigator's sister ship Voyager of the Seas and on Ventura and enjoyed both.

Navigator has more of a 'wow factor' in the main dining room and the Royal promenade so I preferred the look of that ship. I've also cruised with NCL and Princess and found P & O to be the least luxurious. Having said that they offer tremendous value for money and I like being able to take a bottle or two onboard for my cabin so I'm looking forward to Azura in the Caribbean this year. The food was probably slightly better on RCI but I preferred the entertainment on Ventura. I always find the nightclubs on cruise ships practically deserted but maybe that's because I've done quite port intensive itineraries in the Med and people are too tired to party! Enjoy your cruise 😀

  4. In October 2008 when I visited Monaco and Monte Carlo on a Sunday afternoon both the Cathedral and the Casino were open, only the shops in Monte Carlo were closed. The touristy shops in the Old Town of Monaco were open and plenty of places to eat.. Public transport runs on a reduced schedule on a Sunday so leave plenty of time to get back to the ship as trains and buses can be crowded. The website http://www.visitmonaco.com has good transport information and a map which can be printed. Don't do what I did and leave your map on the ship . As I found out when I searched for somewhere to buy another map the tourist information office in Monte Carlo closes at lunchtime on a Sunday.

  5. Hi Repsol Rod, thought you might like the opinion of a Scotswoman on this!

I have no problem with any man wearing a kilt but here are my likes and dislikes.

Having looked at the pics on http://www.kiltmen.com - links on the first page of this thread, I would stress that those garments David Beckham and Ashton Kutcher are wearing are definately not kilts. If you want to see Scottish Highland dress worn properly and stylishly see David Coulthard and the Australian Mel Gibson. My personal dislike is rolled down socks - like wearing a tux with flipflops. I'm not really keen on Jacobean shirts, I would go for the formal look- bow tie, dress shirt, dress jacket and ghillie brogues. I'm sure you'll look great, bear in mind that a kilt and all the trimmings will take up a lot of packing space, my husband won't be taking his on our cruise for that reason.

Please post your pictures if you decide to wear the kilt and have a great cruise!
