  1. I must've missed the announcement.  Was a date given when it would start?  When did they make the announcement?  I would love paper....get off electronics....no temptations...focus on family.  🙂   BTW...I DO appreciate those of you who do the live and non-live reviews...please keep them coming!

This reminds me of an incident last week in class (I teach 7th grade).  One of the students said something and of course, I started singing a song.  One of the students said, "that's from '75, that is really old!"  I stopped what I was doing and looked directly at him and said, "If 1975 is old, then what does that make me?" ( I'm 52).   He stated, "That makes you a "W," (winner) because you've lived this long!"   Sigh.  While I wasn't really upset and had to turn my head to the side so he couldn't see me, I pretended like I was very upset with him.  I told him if he was going to say I was that old, then I was going to teach like "back in my day," and made him go to the board.  After writing the 3rd sentence, "I will not tell my teacher she is "W" for living this long," on the board.  He turned to me and exclaimed, "Hey, this is cool, it's kind of like I'm Bart Simpson."  (Heavy sigh from me)  I had him stop writing as it wasn't meant to be fun and cool....smh.  Had I taken my student's photo, he would have been grinning from ear to ear with delight.

I hope my next cruise isn't as rowdy as what it appears cruises have been lately.  I see the disrespect where I work and I can definitely see why these emails are put out there.  However, as previously stated....will there be follow through???   Otherwise, it might be time take more cruises on other lines.

We are looking for a beautiful,   fun beach to visit when we get off the ship,  then come back for a few hours of shopping before leaving.      Not interested in all-inclusive unless its about the same price as just renting a chair and umbrella.  Mostly just want that clear azul beautiful water for a few hours.     SUggestions.  We used to go to Buccanos but with their new hours they aren't really an option  until afternoon.      DOn't want to pay Mr Sanchos 50$ for all inclusive but want a nice maintainded beach.

    Thoughts?  (Thanks)

What did you end up doing?  I'm having a hard time finding something as there are going to be several ships in port, and we are a late arrival.  I don't want to pay $$$$ for just a few hours.  I am starting to consider hotel resorts, but Palencar looks beautiful...just don't see a pool.

if you are prone to getting seasick a midship cabin would be better. :classic_cool:

That's what i figured....but with the wide open space and a door near there that says emergency exit...i have a feeling it will be slamming all day/night if i take the midship...any information on that?

I would go with the Celebration even though we love the Havana area on the Vista Class ships. More days always wins out with us. 😎

If you had the choice between an Ocean Suite midship 7371-7379 starboard...or havana cabana 5209-5223 on the horizon....and you get sea sick easily.....which would you choose both for seasick and perks

Just want to clarify something about the Carnival Gift Card.  If I recall from when I last sailed them, you can use them to actually PAY for your cruise (which I think is different than others which they can only be used for OBC).  Is that still correct?  I get points at work for various things and I can buy these cards with those points so I want to make sure this is still the case.

I used a couple of mine in Sept. or October towards payment.  Unless they recently changed it, you  should be all good.

  7. I have used Native way 2 out of the 3 times (3rd we rented a private boat).  They are the best!  I am hoping I can get ahold of them for our next cruise!  Will try calling.  I did see prices on their site a month or so ago.  I had to click around a bit but found them.

Yes I did!   And I made a mental note as to where it was located...and I've forgotten where it was. 😮    But there IS a giant chess-set.

Thank you! 😁  I've been searching photos in everyone's reviews in hopes of seeing one.  I figured while they might have tables for chess, they might NOT have the pieces so I'll bring mine just in case!

I have never left out of Port Everglades.   how far is the port terminal from the budget drop off location?   They have a shuttle from drop off to the terminal?    I'm trying to figure out the best way to get there from Miami (downtown)

I have high hopes, but I’m expecting they’ll put me in a balcony…definitely not worth the $$$ I paid for Havana.  I know there has to be many of us upset.  It’s a shame.  I’m happy for the other people that aren’t getting the shaft so there Christmas isn’t ruined like mine.

You will be with your family if you go and that is the important thing about the holidays (Christmas is still coming on December 25th either way)!  You will make the best of it AND if you do not think it is worth it at this point, cancel...you have the option (you may not like it BUT you have it).  You do not have any more control over the situation except to continue with your plans (and make the best of it) or cancel this cruise and rebook for another time or rebook on another line for same timeframe.

Hopefully you can step up and set the tone for a relaxing and fun holiday and the rest of your family will follow.  Attitude is everything when life gets in the way.  Good Luck and have a blast!

Yes it is!   I haven't cancelled as of yet.  I figured I'd see what they give me for a cabin and go from there.  So at this point.....I'm still cruising  🙂

We were on the 12/31 departure sailing and had Havana rooms. An extra $50 in OBC is a joke! Our rate for the Havana rooms was nearly $1k more than a balcony room. We canceled and have booked the same sailing dates on the RC Symphony of the Seas. We have been loyal to Carnival for years and years and are high status VIFP, but we're just about over it with them. We also invest in Carnival but I'll probably pull our money out when the market swings back up a bit. Carnival's customer service has declined so much over the years - unfortunately a sign of a declining company in most cases.

I talked to the highest level of Executive Relations.  Pretty much told me take it or leave it.   I’m VERY upset.  They are splitting 12/19 into Sunshine and Liberty, and said I was an HE and I said there are no HE on the 2 are you putting me into a suite?   They repeated the same comment again.

I'm booked on a Back2Back on Horizon Dec 19 and 26. I'm going to start looking for alternate vacation plans tmow. I've never done a Christmas cruise and always wanted to... guess it's just not in the cards.

Been on the phone since 11 am.  Still the same call.  Been told SOOO many different stories.  But, I now that Carnival said take their 12/19 offer of a comparable cabin (probably a balcony) I will have NO say in it's location on either Liberty or Sunshine (im in a havna...not happening) and your $250 OBC.  OR, cancel by Sunday (and lose part of my flight cost and all of my hotel cost ($450) and 100% refund the cruise, OR Wait for my ship and cabin assignment to see if I like it, but if I decide I don't, I can cancel then....but I'll only get 75% of my cruise cost--which means I'M out $$$$.   I told Tyrone that It's not fair that I paid for a Cabana but will probably only receive a balcony because I could book the Freedom's upper end Balcony for $600 per person less.   He said then book it.   So, that adds another option, cruise on the same class of ship as the Liberty but at least it's a larger ship (why I booked Horizon--still not the same and smaller ship = more possibility of sea sickness), but I won't get my $250 OBC, but do get to pick my cabin.   I told them I'm not out to get $$, but I do want them to know that paying for Havana and getting a Balcony is not comparable and DEFINITELY unfair to any and all of the Havana people.  He said that at least I'd get to cruise.   Yes, but.....had I known that I'd be getting a plain balcony for a Havana, there's no way I would have gotten a Havana in the first place!  If I knew I'd be getting an ocean suite or better I'd probably shush about the Havana $ difference.  Do I want to take the gamble?    What would all of you do?

I am currently on hold for my 6th person (I have been nice, not yelling, etc.,) but have gotten yelled at by the last person because I wanted to talk to a higher up to voice my concerns (not to get him in trouble), and answer what he couldn't answer.   He told me he didn't have a boss, but then later did....and of course.....transferred me to a dead voicemail line.  Carnival sure does make it hard to try to reach ANYONE with authority.  Everyone gave the same email and the same Carnival number.  Why thanks.

Worst part of all of this.....I think I'm done with Carnival and I just purchased discounted gift cards.  This adds to my dilemma!

What did you decide to do?  Did you find other cruises?

Double your money certainly seems generous to me. It is better than $600 OBC my cancelled COVID cruises were offered.

I'm on the 19th....Havana..$250 OBC and get to know sale on either the Liberty or Sunshine....they will pick a comparable room....  cancel by sunday get full refund...but no fcc, hotel reimbursement, etc. etc.  Be thankful they didn't do to you what they did to me and several others for the Holiday cruises.   Sigh.///very dissapointed.   Sigh

For the December Horizon cruises, is the thinking that both the Liberty and Sunshine will do the same itinerary and half of the Horizon cruisers will go on and half on the other?  So in other words, let's say the Horizon cruise was booked at 80% capacity with around 4,000 passengers, then the Liberty and Sunshine would each sail with 2,000 passengers?

Must be.  BUT how can you compare the ships?

  15. 15 hours ago, poz222 said:

Sadly, it seems that is what they think people will accept. For Havana folks it would be a NO WAY as well as insulting. We are a balcony cabin and weighing our options. If we cancel we just get refund and lose the OBC as well as any casino or other offers we had, no FCC like the last folks... I am kinda bitter they are offering so little for a messed up Christmas, but the family is in tears and afraid we will not find another vacation for Christmas. So the choice is, accept an older inferior ship that does not have the activities or dining we wanted r cancel and pay substantially more for a lesser cabin, or cancel cruising for Christmas and find another trip last minute? Long restless night for sure.

And I bet this IS what they are banking on!

I also think it is a gamble for a location you booked? I specifically chose cabins in a certain location because of noise and such. I also book my kids in an interior across the hall. I think it is a gamble to put these things into Carnivals hands.

I do as well!   I look for number possible in cabin next door, stairs, hallways, laundry, above/below…you know the drill!

I’m curious if they are telling you if you are on Sunshine or Liberty? The Sunshine is a way better ship. Although not Horizon. I have done Glory and it is not even close to Horizon but Sunshine at least has a great serenity area. I definitely agree the havana people are getting screwed. If they are dividing between the 2 ships the havana people deserve a suite?

They said they would let us know and we could cancel by the 14th fir my 19th sailing.  But yet it also says I have to cancel by the 5th.   I want a bigger ship with new amenities.  There’s a reason why I chose that ship!
