  1. If you’re on an Edge-class ship, check to see if Le Bistro is open for lunch. Things may have changed, but we had a quiet, wonderful lunch there on embarkation day last December. We’re planning on doing the same in a few weeks on the Apex, if it’s open. There is a fee, but we love the service and food there.

So y'all are canceling then upgrading again?

Yes.  If you’ve already upgraded, first ensure that a lower upgrade price is available for your specific cruise. If it is, just cancel your original upgrade, then purchase the upgrade at the lower price. Did it yesterday on the website. New upgrade was $6.99 pp/pd on our 12/2/23 Apex cruise. Saved us just over $200.

  3. We were on the Edge 1/2 - 1/9/22. I’m a 61 y/o “relapsed” walker that decided to use the cruise to get back into a daily walking routine. I found the track easy to use. The incline takes up about 40% of the length of the ship, so it’s pretty gradual. I didn’t have any issues, and didn’t notice anyone else having issues either. I also enjoyed how wide the track is, and that it has two clearly marked lanes - walking and running.

    Enjoy!

  4. We are on the Dec. 9th- 16th Eastern and I got a call that instead of St. Croix it will now be St. Tomas and emails will be sent by next monday. so no shore ex for St. T. yet. Probably can look at other ships that go there and see want has been offered for hints.

Same cruise, also received call. Itinerary hasn't yet been updated on the travel status page for that cruise on the website, but the port status link on the website seems to have been updated. This might be useful to some of you:

  5. OK. Thanks' date=' mocruiseguy.

So, what are some thoughts on the PH suite?

    [/b']

While I wouldn't have spent the money up front, it became available shortly before our cruise due to a last minute cancellation. We were traveling with a group of 10 people total, got to the pier at 11:00 a.m. and grabbed it. Price of the upgrade from Cat. 2 to PH was $900 that morning. There was also one RS available to upgrade that morning. Price $500. We had already decided beforehand to get whatever suite upgrade was available, so the additional $400 seemed like a bargain. Frankly, the whole thing was a "once-in-a-lifetime" bargain.

The PH is amazing, especially if you are traveling with a group of friends/family. At our request, the ship's concierge arranged for our friends to have guest keys so they could enjoy the suite, too.

Our butler kept us supplied with mixers and appetizers throughout the cruise and served dinner to the entire group ensuite a couple of evenings. That dining table came in very handy. He took very good care of us and we tipped him well at the end.

We spent a lot of time on the verandah, especially at the end of the day as the ship was leaving port and on sea days. The verandah is huge. We had chaise loungers for all 10 people, a large outdoor dining table and enough seats for everyone (the butler brought us 4 more chairs). There's also a bar with a built in refrigerator. The PH comes with a great stereo system and the music can be switched to play outside, too.

One feature of the PH that we really took advantage of was the butler's pantry. The pantry came with a full refrigerator, microwave and a wine refrigerator. It was also fully stocked with a wide variety of glasses, mixers, etc. Our butler would check it throughout the day and replenish anything we had used. A couple of the ladies in the group really love chocolate covered strawberries. Like clockwork, a platter of them would appear in the refrigerator each afternoon.

    Other features we really enjoyed:

    The very large bathroom.

    Having a guest bathroom.

The player baby grand piano during dinner

Again, I don't think I'd ever spend the money upfront, but if you find the PH available for upgrade at embarkation, grab it.

  6. Anyone know?

What is that thing on the balcony of the Penthouse Suite....

(not the hot tub)... that goes down into the deck of the balcony?

    There are stairs.

    I keep seeing it....

and I don't know what it is.

    Thanks.

Boo's Mom - I think what you are referring to really are stairs. They are used for emergencies. We had the good fortune to secure an upgrade to one of the PH Suites on Summit the day of embarkation on a previous cruise. Just aft of the hot tub is a set of stairs that go down to lower decks. The stairs are "railed in" and are used for emergencies.
