  1. Jim Zim,

I have a couple of questions that I hope that you can answer for me. DH and I are sailing in 7450 on the Carnival Horizon in December of 2018. (Picked that cabin for quiet and privacy combination).

Where is muster held for the Havana Cabin guests?

Are there outside showers in the Havana Outside area, I didn't see any in your review?

I know this may be a strange question, but we have the Dune Buggy excursion booked for La Romana, so we will be very muddy when we get back on the ship, and the excursion reviews suggest you wear your bathing suit under old clothes, so you can throw your clothes away and "shower" off outside, so the cabin stewards will not have such a mess to clean up.

Any help is appreciated. Many thanks for your Incredible, extensive, and awesome review.

  2. Hello Everyone,

We are booked for the 4/10/2016 sailing for the DREAM. I know, I know it's 418 days away, but how soon have you found you can book excursions?

Excursions are still not available for our sailing, but Carnival keeps sending me an email to book them...got one today and so far no excursions.

We aren't really concerned for anything selling out other than FTTF. Really enjoyed getting to the cabin early on our PRIDE cruise in September and we don't want to miss it by selling out and since we are in a aft wrap balcony and not a suite this cruise, we don't have any guarantee of getting on the ship early.

    Any answers are helpful.

  3. My middle name is on my passport, but there is not a space for it in the Guest name section in Manage my booking for the Carnival Website.

Does my name on my Boarding pass have to match my passport name exactly? Forgive me if this is a silly question. I Want NO SURPRISES when we get ready to board in 47 days. I can put in in that section but want to do it now.

    Thanks.

  4. I knew you all would know.

Thanks jandb6266 for the pride email addy. I will try that. I like to know I have confirmation of everything before I go, in case they lose my reservation.

How long does it take the steakhouse to respond to the email? Just in case I don't hear back from them.

    Thanks.

  5. Does anyone know the Pride Steakhouse email? We booked our cruise on 6/29 for a 9/21 cruise, and our Steakhouse reservations on 6/30/14. So far, no confirmation.

If you know what the email is, many thanks. If possible, I want to have my printed confirmation in my binder.

  6. I agree that if the Cruise line has a dress code, then they should enforce it AND the passengers who wish to cruise that line should abide by it.

DH and I are planning our fourth cruise. We have been on Princess, HAL and Royal Caribbean and have dressed formally for each when the dress code called for it. We also want to try all of the lines.

On HAL they also had a semi-formal night as the second night and I was afraid that DHs sport coat that TSA must have tied in a knot wouldn't be back from the laundry on time, so I told our tablemates that if his sport coat was not back we would not be at dinner the next evening. Our lovely table mates said they would certainly understand and for my husband to come in his shirt and tie, so there are instances where things happen that people aren't able to dress appropriately. BUT it is good manners to follow the dress code of the dining room or eat somewhere else.

We went to Portofino's on the Serenade of the Seas on formal night and the couple at the next table actually asked us if we knew that we didn't have to dress formally in the Specialty restaurants even on formal night. My husband told the gentlemen that we wanted to dress formally on formal night...where we ate didn't matter. So it's okay to be over dressed but bad manners to be underdressed.

We have watched the Reflection leave her berth on the Port of Miami webcam recently and are considering her for our next trip, but DH has said he didn't want to dress formally, so that's fine but we won't be eating in the MDR on formal nights because we are not packing the proper attire.

I can only control my own behavior! We know the rules going in and if we don't want to follow them we make other plans.

  7. We loaded our 218 bags and watched as the porters loaded them on the wagons. We got to security around 11:25 and were on the ship at 11:45. It would have been sooner if we didn't have to stop to get our picture made so many times.

At 1:30 we went to our friend's room to collect our carryons. We went to our room, 9401 (balcony), and all 638 bags were there waiting for us. We went in and unpacked everything. Fortunately, there is room under the bed for empty luggage.

I know...I just hate it when your luggage multiplies before your eyes. The amount that it multiplies is directly proportional to how far you have to walk with it.

  8. Our next cruise takes us to Cozumel and I would like to pick up a nice bottle of tequila for my daughter. Any suggestions on which kind to buy? Also, how do you get the bottle back home? I'm assuming that you have to package it very carefully in your luggage so it doesn't break in transit on the way back home. Our do they allow special provisions at the security check in at the airport? Thanks!

    Hi Anyislandwill do,

First, love your screen name. Amazon.com sells Wine Diapers. Last time I bought them they were 3 for $14.99. Think waterproof bag for your electronics. They are guaranteed not to leak if the bottle gets broken and are padded to try to prevent them from getting broken. They are even reusable, so you can pack your 2 bottles on wine in them to get on the ship, and then take your Tequila in them to travel home.

Have travelled with them and love them. There is also a brand called a Wine Mummy too.

I thought I would make sure I have extras when I go to Mexico next time too. Not just for the Tequila, but I like to buy Mexican vanilla too.

  9. Thanks so much for everyone on this post. DH and I are planning a cruise from Baltimore. Thought about driving and parking. Since we can fly to Miami cheaper that we can fly to BWI, I was trying to find other options.

So I started looking at Amtrak. It is about $60 more to take the train from Richmond than driving, so I asked DH what he wanted to do since he would be the one driving.

I thought if traffic was okay it was fine, but traffic through DC and to Baltimore can be horrific. Friend from work drove to Baltimore for a wedding...took 6 hours instead of 3, DH voted for $60 extra to have someone else do the driving and avoid the STRESS of Driving through the DC corridor. We are going in the day before to account for any delays.

No baggage fees. No parking fees at the train station. We are really looking forward to the train trip. And I get a discount....sweet!!

  10. SWEET SUITE !!!

I think you'll love it - just knowing what I do about NCL and (to a lesser extent) the Dawn.

Of course, 4237 and 4228 are our GO TO cabins on Spirit class ships - hard not to enjoy those - even without any real perks!!!

    Tom

Tom (or someone who has stayed in these suites can answer),

Looking to book the Pride for next year..Sailing from Baltimore, so no flying Hooray! DH and I want to book a Vista Suite. I like being close to the water however I was concerned about booking 4237 or 4228 because of the connecting staterooms.

How noisy are the connecting staterooms? Would I be better off if noise is an issue to book either Deck 8 or Deck 7. Don't want to book Deck 5 or 6 if I can help it. Those suites are smaller.

I am very frugal and we realize that we are not going to get many perks for booking a suite with Carnival. We wanted the larger balcony because we really enjoying spending time out there. To us, it is worth the money because of the balcony. Priority whatever is just a bonus.

Told DH that we could save the money by booking a regular aft balcony. He wants to be on the aft. I told him that was fine, but I would have to have a middle balcony. I couldn't be right next to the Aft wrap...I would have a severe case of "Balcony Envy."

  11. Dear Posters,

Odd Ball, You are certainly entitled to your opinion. Just curious, what would spend the money on? It is probably silly, but I was just wondering if anyone else would want a cam on HMC too? For me part of the anticipation of the trip is visualizing the ship and where she is.

My countdown clock is at less than 500 days for my next cruise on the Westerdam (we booked June 29 for a 12/14/2008 cruise) and I am counting the days until she is in the Caribbean (she starts transatlantic on Oct. 15) and I can see her on screen...Yes, I am cruise addicted.

I'm with sail7seas. I do think in the cost/revenue sceme of things the webcam may generate more income because more people may want to book with HAL because you can see the island, and that revenue may be transferred onto the ship.

How much does a webcam cost anyway? I am sure the island is connected via sattelite anyway. It would have to be, wouldn't it? I just wish I could see HMC whenever I wanted. Just my opinion too.

Since Carnival Corp is the parent company of HAL-I can't see why they would object to the webcam on HMC. I wish all of the ships had webcams. We booked on the Caribbean Princess 14 months before our first cruise and I watched her every day via the web. It is a sickness I know.

I with Lynne and May 4 too... OOHMMMM......I can just picture the palm trees, the breeze, the water and the beautiful HAL ship(s).

  12. I think it would be great if HAL had a webcam on Half Moon Cay. Even if there were no ships there, we would still have the beautiful island to look at.

Anyone know if that is in the works-or is it not allowed because it is a "private" island so what happens on HMC stays on HMC?
