I second APTours. We had the most wonderful day Naples, Pompeii, Sorrento and Positano. Lots to see but this tour was one of the highlights of our trip. The guide was funny, fun to be with and professional. We opted for a private guide in Pompeii and it's the only way to go. There is so much about the history that you will miss if you try to do it on your own. Would love to go back to Positano and don't forget to buy Limoncello in Sorrento.

Sorry, I'm late for your trip but if other see this post it might help them. June of 2014 we booked Walks of Italy for their Secret Vatican/Sistine Chapel early tour which began at 7:30am. Amazing is all I can say. We entered the Sistine Chapel with less than 100 people there. On the way back through about three hours later, there were thousands of people. The guide was wonderful and I can't say enough good about the company and it's people. We then took the Colosseum tour with Walks of Italy the next afternoon and were taken under the stadium, and on to the Forum and Palantine Hill. Once again, the guide was wonderful and incredibly knowledgeable. I would give Walks of Italy five stars. Yes, these two tours were more expensive but well worth the extra. Who knows if you will ever get back there again so go for it.

Cruisemom42, we travel Frecciargento 9423 from Venice @11:25am to Rome Termini on May 29th. I have seen somewhere that this particular train is guaranteed. Fingers crossed.

Please be aware that there is a possible train strike on May 28-29th. I have a reservation from Venice to Rome on May 29th and I'm not sure if it will be running. A friend on our roll-call alerted me to the potential strike. Go on-line and search "train strikes in italy" (they forewarn you about strikes) there are two sites that will give you some information although most of it is in Italian. Good luck. I hope we're not hitch-hiking from Venice.

I should have know it was you Tom, Freedom 55. Years ago on a Barefoot Windjammer Cruise out of Grenada, they played Amazing Grace as we hoisted the sails. I will never forget it and even now the song makes me feel the wind in my receding hair.

We used Walks of Italy for both Underground Colosseum and Sistine Chapel and they were wonderful. Groups were very small and we bi-passed everyone. Felt like VIPs. The guides were amazing and their knowledge unsurpassed. I would use them again in a heartbeat.
