  1. My wife and I are cruising on the Carnival Magic March 25th out of Galviston, TX. Who's coming? I'm trying to figure out how we can find more lesbian couples on board... We're sailing with dw's family but would like to get away and meet some people!

Exciting. My partner Robin and I are going to try to schedule a cruise on the Magic. Just depends on her schedule. We usually try to make the Friends of Dorothy meetings. We are going on the RCCL Mariner Thanksgiving week.

  2. Hey Robin and Rita,

When are you thinking about going on the Dream to Key West? Did you have dates in mind?

Like Robin, I am also a teacher so I have to work around my school schedule too. We pretty much stick to cruising in the summer time because of that. We would love to join other couples who love cruising as much as we do.

We are going to have to get used to new "schedules" as before Robin worked Sat and Sun as Administrator on Call at the local hospital, taught nursing clinicals one day and had the rest of the week off. Now that she will be teaching full time we will also have to schedule around breaks and summer.

I am a Medical Social worker and work part time, most of the time being able to make my own schedule. I have a back up that fills in when I am out of town etc.

Having said all that, we will probably schedule the Dream during Christmas break. We have a standing "date" with friends Alex and Roger to cruise each April but that of course will have to be tweaked to spring break.

So good to get to know you. Will look forward to hearing more about your trips.

  3. We are Robin and Rita, together now for almost 16 years. We are fortunate to live only 30 minutes or so from the cruise terminal in Galveston so have had opportunity to cruise from there several times. In fact, just returned from a 5 day Western Caribbean with our cruising mates Alex and Roger (together 25+ years). We are booked on Oasis of the Seas out of Fort Lauderdale April 9, 2011 and so looking forward to the Big O. We are also looking forward to the Dream coming to Galveston. I am semi-retired and can pretty much make my own schedule. Robin teaches nursing at the college level so our cruises will be around her schedule but we definitely want to sail on the Dream to Key West.

Anyone else on Oasis of The Seas April 9, 2011? Hope to see some of you there.

  4. My partner Robin and I (Rita), together 15 years, really enjoying cruising. Took her a while to convince me I wouldn't be completely bored, but after that first time, I am ready at the drop of a hat. We are fortunate to live only 30 minutes from the cruise terminal in Galveston and take advantage whenever we can. I am semi-retired and Robin mostly works weekends so we have been able to take some of the Carnival Monday thru Friday cruises. We have not been on Olivia. After reading reviews, pro and con, we decided we could best use the extra bucks in other ways.

We sometimes travel with friends, gay, lesbian and straight. We have never encountered any problems on any of the ships we have been on. Since there is a 17 year age gap, most people assume we are mother and daughter and then when we are with our gay friends who also have a substantial age gap, it is assumed we are straight couples. Just depends on the circumstances whether we clarify or not. We are all definitely out.

We will be sailing on Carnival Conquest April 11 with our gay traveling friends. Anyone else on that trip? Would be nice to meet others from this thread.

  5. Hello to all. We are Robin and Rita in Texas City Texas and love cruising. We haven't cruised on Olivia because, like so many others it seems, we can do multiple cruises for the price of one on Olivia. As far as being on "straight" cruises, we have never had a problem. Some of the time we go just the two of us, and other times we have had several other couples, both male and female.

I never thought I would like cruising. How boring. But after Robin and I became a couple 14 years ago she finally talked me into going and now just say the word and I am at the dock. I am semi retired and she works as the Administrator on Site at the local hospital and works doubles Saturday and Sunday and is off M thru F so we can take advantage of Carnival's 4 or 5 day trips out of Galveston and will be leaving on the April 13th 5 day. I only recently discovered Cruise Critic and an enjoying "meeting" new people. Anyone by chance doing the TA from Barcelona to Galveston 11-29-09?

Enough. I am beginning to ramble. Smooth sailing to everyone.
