  1. It may seem an obvious answer to my question, but we have Aurea on the Seashore this month. The description states "anytime dining". How does this work? Do we just show up to the MDR at any time an will be seated? Or do you have to arrange in advance what time you want?

We sailed once before on MSC (steerage class) and they gave us the late night dining. No changes were available for earlier times.

The website (as horrible as it is) didn't give any kind of option for dining preferences when we checked in.

Lastly, does the Aurea guests eat in a designated dining room? Or is is the "main" MDR?

    Thanks all!

    You can make life simple:

For whatever class of cabin you are looking at take the prices and subtract one from the other.

The difference is your "maximum" saving.

Now subtract the gratuities - what is left must  cover all your drinks (alcoholic,,water, lattes etc) and WiFi. You will probably find the amount you have is well under $25 a day - Celebrity add $100 per person per day to cover AI but only credit a fraction of it when you select Simply Sail. Plus Simply Sail is only available on guarantee cabins

Thanks for the info, but how much are tips pp? and how much is wifi per day if it is bought separately?

Right now I am quoted $2616 for a E5 veranda vs $3549 for the same cabin with AI. That comes out to $78 pp/day difference.

  3. We're looking at the Edge for a sailing next year. They offer the simple base price then the "always included" price. I might have 2 drinks each night, my wife doesn't drink at all. So the drinks included may not be worth it.  How much are drinks ala carte? Looking mainly at gin and tonic or occasional martini.

Also, what is the Wi-Fi price for basic internet on your phone per day? Trying to see if the simple price is worth it.

  4. We were on the same cruise and some of what you said was apparent to us as well. This was our 22nd cruise, 10th on Carnival. There were so many obnoxious, loud people on this ship. It was hard to relax. Look, I get people like to have a good time, but if you drink to the point you are excessively loud, and obnoxious, maybe you should sail Carnival. ...Oh wait, this was Carnival! IMO, Carnival has become nothing more than a bottom of the barrel booze cruise.

We still had a good time. You really have to try hard to have a bad time on a cruise. As for the food, despite Carnival being the basement cruise line, we always thought they have the best food. No complaints in that department, except for the fact that people were showing up to the MDR in t-shirts, shorts and flip flops. I don't expect suit and tie, (I only wear a polo and khakis), but come on people, have some respect! There was even a bridal party group of girls that showed up with a 3 ft. inflatable phallus! Fortunately, the seating staff turned them away.

  5. Crazy question, but have to ask.

We've done Bernard's years ago. I remember it being a great tour. We'd like to book again, but last year in St. Thomas we did a similar tour with Sonny Liston's outfit. Great people, but the buses we rode in were painfully loud since the driver's narration was broadcasted over a speaker, resulting in hours of screeching, nerve racking noise.

For anyone that has done Bernard's tour lately, please tell me it is just normal talk with no microphones!

  6. I'm getting ready to book a cabin on the Westerdam. Specifically cabin 8026. I always want to know what is on the deck directly above my cabin. It seems as if the spa area is the deck above (deck 9), but what is the area directly above 8026?? Directly across and above on the starboard side are the thermal suites, but does anyone know what that room is on the port side deck 9 across from the elevators? There is no description.

  7. Does anybody know if two adjacent balconies on Carnival's Liberty can be opened up (dividers removed) to make one open balcony for the two cabins? And does this apply to all balcony cabins, or only select ones?

We want to book with family, and will try to get adjacent cabins if this is possible. Otherwise we will just book what ever the best price is.

    Thanks.
