  1. Insurance is a good bet, if you can't or don't want to absorb the cost. For healthy, wealthy folks, it's probably a sucker bet.

    I'm not sure how?

I am looking at $60 for trip cancellation insurance alone for my (so far) $2300 trip. It would take 2300 / 60 = 38 flawless trips before I would pay more than the cost of one cancelled trip due to unforeseen circumstances.

  2. And let in all that hot and humid air. We have been on ships when thy opened the roof and couldn't wait for them to close it again. Give me the climate-controlled solarium on Brilliance with the roof closed and I am a happy camper.

Besides I'm not convinced that the glass roof effectively blocks those dangerously carcinogenic UV rays that allow "tanning" (burning). Even with the roof closed, I'd still lather myself liberally with high SPF sunscreen just to be safe.

UVB (causes sunburn) is blocked by glass but about 50% of UVA (causes wrinkling and aging) gets through. More info here: UVA Radiation: A Danger Outdoors and Indoors

Thanks for all the info on Brilliance. We're sailing in January and i can't wait. :)

  3. I'm not sure if the RCL system is broken but:

A bunch of people from our group cruise were able to pre purchase the premium and ultimate drink packages for our 3 night Majesty of the Seas cruise.

The rep I talked to told me they shouldn't have been allowed to do that so a bunch of people are now, understandably, steaming mad.

So far we have no news on whether this was an error or whatnot. I'll be calling the pre cruise planning department later today.

    Anyone have this happen before?

Every post I am reading says it shouldn't have given us this option.
