  1. Won my upgrade bid this morning for Breakaway cruise leaving Sunday.

Booked with CAS under a comped inside room and put bids in at 80 days out for a balcony and spa balcony pretty low.  About a week ago the cruise showed sold out and I called CAS to try to upgrade and they told me it was sold out. Last night decided to bump up my bids just in case because I really wasn't crazy about an inside room and was notified just before 10am this morning that I won my balcony bid for $330pp. Little pricey for a balcony probably but not bad for a comped cruise.

  2. Sad that I have to explain this, but the anger/blame is because vacations are expensive, I don't have the extra money on hand to say "oh well, oh gee, *shrug the shoulders*, no big deal, better luck next time!:)". So pardon me if I feel a little pissed off and screwed by the cruise line. Maybe if more people gave a damn and made noise about these kinds of things like I do then big companies wouldn't be so quick to have such BS policies & practices. I can tell you this - I'm damn glad that I'm the way I am, because if I wasn't I wouldn't have gotten $600 credit from RCL for finding human feces on my Allure stateroom carpet, and I wouldn't have over $900 back in bank account refunded from Airtran last year (refund, not credit) after a massive drop in my airfare occurred.

These days you have to be willing to fight, every man/woman for themselves, otherwise you're going to get walked over every single time. Fact.

So you're going to stick with a cruise line where you found feces on your stateroom floor!?!?! I'd rather risk a price drop/OBC increase on NCL personally

  3. That depends on when your last cruise was and how many points you earned on it. If you earned 5001+ points in the past "CAS year", you will have a drink card waiting for you. Since my second NCL sailing (first one comped by CAS) I have always had a drink card waiting for me, including two upcoming sailings this month). Also, if you are sailing in a comped cabin from CAS, you will have a drink card waiting as well (usually, getting a comped cabin involves making more than 5001 points in the past cruise, but this also applies to cabins comped by outside casinos, like Harrah's/Caesars, etc).

So, our cruise coming up in May is a comped cruise based on our last NCL sailing in Oct 2011...will we not receive the free drink cards in the room like we always have? I didn't ask when we booked but just assumed I guess since that is the way it had always been.

  4. Hi, we have two future cruise rewards for NCL that we will not be able to use since we don't get as much time off as we use to when we purchased them. They both expire January 30, 2015 (sailing must be completed by that date). Just trying to get our $150 back from each that we paid, and you get $250 off your next cruise and counts towards your deposit (must be 6+ day cruise). If interested, please email kckchall@gmail.com. Thanks

  5. We used Skype on the Epic the beginning of October from Europe. We did video chat with our kids back home 5 nights...a couple of the nights the picture wouldn't show up cause the internet connection was too slow but the other nights worked fine. Didn't know you weren't suppose to be able to access it :confused:

  6. We were in this room a couple weeks ago. LOVED IT:) Very quiet and conveniet to Lido. We walked up/down whenever we ate in the morning or afternoon. Our room stewards, Inna and Marek were the best I've ever had. The only "wierd" thing we found was that at night when we'd prop the balcony door open, there'd be a big gush of water coming over the top railing onto the balcony. I have no idea where the water came from, because it wasn't raining:eek: It wasn't every night, but when it happene it was at about 4:00 - 4:30 AM.

The Spa is only for the 1st 2 guests and I know there's an age requirement, but don't know what it is. I wouldn't be surprised if it was 18, due to the nature of the spa being a more "quiet" place and also due to unmonitored access to the steam, sauna and thelessapy pool.

A new thing on this ship, tho probably mentioned already, was that to have the lights on, someone's key card needs to be in the "light switch" on the wall, for lack of a better name. Good idea, just took some getting used to.

The Magic is a beautiful ship and the staff was wonderful. I hope that you and you family enjoy it as much as we did.

Thanks for the info! Sounds great! We had that same type of key card lighting on the Epic a couple weeks ago but they left a "dummy" card in it the whole week so it kind of defeated the purpose

Wonder what the water was from?? Washing the upper deck??

  7. NM, we were missing one piece of our luggage after the transfer to BCN Airport. It arrived ten minutes later on a van. Heald wrote on his Facebook page that the Carnival transfer was easy and worry free. I wouldn't use it or encourage others to either.

If anyone needs a cabin for four in a smoke free environment, including smoke free balcony and wants spa benefits, I can highly recommend 12023.

As for the ship itself, it's an improvement over other carnival ships. But they need to build bigger pools if they are building ships for 4,000 passengers. The current facilities are substandard. We had one sea day out of nine days. I would think twice about booking a Caribbean cruise on that ship.

We are looking at booking 12023 for our family of four in January...anything specific you can tell me about the cabin? Seems like a good location. Also, will my wife be able to take our daughter with her to the spa? I can't find any info on whether the spa priveledges are just for the first 2 in the room or if they even allow under 18 in the spa? Thanks
