  1. Thanks for the info. We, too, will be on the May 8 cruise coming from Everett.  Looked into taking the train, which we have done in the past, and it will cost $268 round trip for 4 people. We decided to just drive up and park at Canada Place. We will have some seniors with us and want easy access so it looked like the airport parking would be a  big hassle to save minimal money.

  2. I booked a couple of rooms on b2b cruises for 2018. Is it allowed to cancel those and rebook under the 1$ deposit. It is a lot of hassle to call and cancel and then rebook everything and won't try if it can't be done. Anyone with any insight?

Got an answer. I was able to call Princess and they rebooked for the $1 deposit for me. Easy peasy.

  4. We have been sad that the choices in the Caribbean during summer have been slim. It's pretty much the best time for us to cruise with school aged kids. Well, I just got done booking the Caribbean Princess for 2 weeks in 2018. We are really excited for the redone ship and the new Medallion Class offerings. Have been on Caribbean Princess 2 times and had few complaints. Our worst was the Grand Princess in Alaska a few years ago.

  5. ATK is starting on the Eurodam in April. We will be on the 24th sailing which will be the 2nd week it is in operation. We are chaperoning a small group of high schoolers who are in the cooking club so they will be doing lots of cooking activities. It will be interesting to see what it is all about. This will also be our first HAL cruise so the hubs and I will be doing plenty of exploring while the kids do their cooking and tours.

  6. My hubby and I took it for our cruise in 2013 from MCO. I gotta say that we loved it. We had always done the rental car thing and this was so much better. So easy and stress free. It was a little more money than we usually like to pay, but we decided it was worth not dealing with traffic and the rental return hassles. Very comfortable and they did play a video on the way.

  7. We got off the Grand Princess this morning and I was surprised to see the Westie still in port. I had read about the fire last night while online. Glad to see she is on her way to Alaska. I had expected to see the Oosterdam since she was in port with us last Sunday when we boarded.

  8. If you are going to Tracey Arm, try to get on the "Glacier Explorer" excursion that leaves from the ship when it's up in Tracey Arm. You won't be disappointed. Some of the people I talked to later said they were disappointed that the ship couldn't get any closer to Sawyer Glacier because of the ice. I believe the "Glacier Explorer" excursion was sold out a week or so before the ship left Seattle.

Thanks for the idea but we have been to Tracey Arm twice and were able to get up next to the glacier both times so we have seen it. We are also cruising on a budget and won't be doing any fancy excursions. It was thoughtful of you to recommend it though. :)

  9. Also try the Lotus Spa Pool. On one of our cruises to AK we swam in there during the morning and it was warm and wonderful. I just ducked into the nearby unused sauna to dry off and put my coverup back on.

  10. We have done AK 3 times and I just booked our 4th this morning. My parents are going with us and this will be their 1st time to AK. Since we live near Seattle, this is an inexpensive vacation and very relaxing. We have gone and not booked any tours and just had no expectations and it was the best because we just did what felt right at the time. No stress. After our first I thought I would never go again as I prefer the Caribbean and the warmer weather.

  11. I just found this thread and it has been an inspiration. I am working on decluttering my home as well. We just had a garage sale yesterday and what didn't sell was loaded into my van and taken to thrift. I did keep some higher value items out as I can sell them on my local facebook buy/sell pages.

I have lost 60 pounds in the past year, still have about 40 to go, and did a major closet purge. It has left me with very few items to wear. I am slowly buying some transitional items to get me through, but once I get to my goal weight I plan to buy some higher quality items. My dad has always taught me to go for quality over quantity and I am passing that on to my daughter. One of my goal items is a cute Lilly Pulitzer dress. I can only wear higher end shoes since I have wide feet with bunions. I bought a darling pair of Ecco sandals that cost me $130 but they are leather and super comfy.

I am now getting close to getting the clutter out, but now need to start with organizing what I have left and also get real with myself and purge even more. ;)

  12. We used the Princess transfers in NY in 2011 and it was the best decision we could have made. Stress free and got a great "tour" of the New York area. It was our first time in NYC and we were super intimidated by all of the transportation choices.
