was on the things to do section yesterday and noticed the specialty restaurants are filling up fast.  booked a hibachi meal on a sea day there was still some seatings for dinner.

checked out resort for a day options and those were much fewer than anticipated.

I've been checking outside vendors and day resort pass sites and haven't had much luck there either.

Its our first Journeys and we're hoping to take advantage of these beautiful ports.

  2. Hello-

We're going on the Venezia Oct 28 Journeys trip. I love going to the spa and look forward to hearing how Carnival outfits this one. Has Carnival listed spa options for the May 29 cruise yet with more details yet? Splendor had thalassotherapy & rasul couple's mud room treatments that I wish they'd add to every boat but I'm pretty sure neither will show up on Venezia.

We're excited with over 200 days to go- I can imagine how amazing you guys' inaugural cruise will be! 😍

  3. We're on the Oct 28, 12-night cruise. On the day we booked Jan 5, I was able to reserve each dining venue except captain's table and green eggs breakfast were sold out. Since then I've noticed the ones we secured are also sold out (aside from the steakhouse and teppanyaki). For me the spa and ground transport still don't show up but I've been told it's too early. Off topic but I 'hearted' several excursions that now show as unavailable so things are still getting worked out. I can't wait for the first cruisers to return with pics to finally see the boat in detail 🙂

  4. Day two after booking and 289 days to go. Today I called in to add our ride to/from the airport since I couldn't see ground transfers on my phone. I realized earlier that it'll be Halloween during the cruise! I wonder if they'll have a costume party..?

I could add three dining options but it's about all sold out.

I'm checking into whatever carnival's offering plus researching third party excursions, but haven't booked anything yet. St Thomas is the only port I've been to before.

    That's it for now- goodnight.

BTW we're Steve and Lisa from Ohio.

  5. One of my favorite spots on any cruise is the spa- I like their larger showers and will use the sauna daily. I can't find anything yet about this ship's spa and really only have one wish... that the sauna will have big windows overlooking the ocean. I was so disappointed in the Paradise.. the sauna was a literal dark closet and most of the salon was also windowless. The Splendor was hands down our favorite spa with the thalassotherapy pool and couples rasul mud suites. I have no idea yet how this will be laid out and can hardly wait for the June cruisers to start reporting back.

  6. Hi guys! Hubby and I will be on board! We're looking forward to the new boat. I'm excited to see pictures and videos from those embarking ahead of October. The cruise manager has holes- nothing can be booked in the spa section, they don't have airport transfers up yet, and I'm hoping they'll add in more excursions. Most of the restaurants are already booked up but we got in on the Bonsai Teppanyaki. We reserved a regular balcony. We'd like the new styles but dang they're expensive. We're both avid cruisers. Hope to see a whole bunch of us reporting into roll call soon. Thanks!

  7. I have to be completely honest. My husband and I love piano bars but this guy was looking to hook up with someone plain and simple. He was drinking, changing the words, and inserting sexually inappropriate lyrics. It was obvious and frankly absurd. We walked out. I took a short video clip of it. At one point he slurped his lips and acted like he was setting a spot on his mouth for a woman to sit. God I wish I was kidding. He was creepy as hell. No, we didn't complaint because it was not bad enough to do so (he was just being verbally vulgar so yeah- eh- whatever...). Later in the week he was used as one of the evening's main entertainment up on the stage too. His name was Craig.

  8. I should of read all the words in my email because the answers to my questions were right there. Basically we'll get another 1200 off of a future cruise. This will work for us.

*Refunds are processed within three weeks to the original form of payment. The future cruise credit is based on the cruise fare paid for this voyage, is non-transferable, cannot be used as a deposit or applied to a chartered sailing, and has no cash value. The credit must be redeemed by 09/05/18. There is no refund for unused portions of the credit or for any cancellation penalties that may be assessed. After you have booked your cruise, please use this link to provide us with the new booking information so we can process your cruise credit. (I removed the link)

  9. Are you still planning to go? I am packing and wondering if it is worth it just to go to the Bahamas. Stressful decisions...

Yes. We're going. Just got off the phone with our rep. He seems to think the two days in that one port will be when it is repaired. For us, we're getting 1200 refunded plus 100 each obc - along with the shot that week two will be the normal Eastern itinerary. The only thing he wasn't sure about was the way I'd be refunded since I paid 75% with gift cards. Anyone have experience in that? I mean, if I have to take it all back in electronic balance then I will of course. Hate to hold onto all that $$ in 'electronic' funds since we can't take another one for at least a year...but overall we're happy. This is our 15 year anniversary and we've saved and bought discount gcs forever getting ready for this!

It'd be cool if guest services could apply that '50% off future cruise' to our second leg. It was more the more expensive of the two and would net an additional 1300 back! Another question (sorry, I'm having random-thought typing), are there restrictions on the 50%-off-future-cruise offer? In other words, could we grab the most expensive suite on a cruise in the future with it, or would it hold us to the category we booked when the discount was offered?

TIA and sorry for the rambling...

  10. Ugh. My email yesterday promised an update by 6 pm today and so far nothing. Has anyone heard anything about it arriving on time and the outgoing itinerary on 3/5? I am on it for a B2B and plan to be on board from 3/5 - 3/19. I've been following the ship all day on satellite- its been puttering along at 14.1 knots. My nerves are shot waiting to hear anything.

  11. Do the AARP cards tend to ship as fast as the ones from Verizon? We're taking a Carnival Splendor b2b and leave Ohio on March 4. So dang excited, can't wait! In the past, Verizon has always come thru quickly, but this was my first time ordering from AARP. The awards gift card pages appear almost identical in layout, I'm guessing they're the same outfit and will send UPS requiring my signature. I certainly appreciate the information from all of you. I would have never learned about the AARP option. I signed up for their newsletter to earn another quick 5000 points yesterday, but now I've read to create multiple accounts. Genius!

  12. Thank you! I kept getting caught up on a page that required me to pay for membership. They're also sold out, but at least I'll be have more of a chance in the future :)

Now all I need to figure out how to use verizon reward's site to book travel and use gift cards to pay for it (double savings).

Just go sign up. Nothing to be accepted in.

    http://www.aarp.org/rewards-for-good/

You don't have to be an AARP Member. I am in my 30s so far from AARP age. I still signed up for this to get them.

  13. We booked our hotel using Verizon points too. $142.06 for the Courtyard by Marriott in Brickell. And you can book cruises using Verizon points and pay using gift cards. I know a few people who have.

How did they do that? At the end of a Rewards order, they will only charge to a credit card. Grrr. I'm bummed to miss the opportunity to save $, but am glad to learn how to circumvent those check-out issues for the future...

  14. A couple days ago you could still see Royal's and Carnival's gift cards on the site (albeit sold out). Today I can no longer see either. If the poster above is correct, then keep checking over the next 24 hours for them to reappear 'in stock'.

I've bought five 500-dollar ones at a time - so 500 per day isn't the limit. I appreciate the tip above about buying four 100-dollar gc's and then buying a separate set of four 100-dollar gc's in two purchases in one day (thanks).

I purchased our pre-cruise hotel on Verizon's travel page too (2,300 points). I booked Comfort Suites Miami Airport North for $202 (King Suite- inc taxes). On Comfort Suite's site, it's $229. They have a free shuttle from Miami airport, breakfast, wifi, and free shuttles to the cruise port.

Too bad we can't book cruises on Verizon's travel page then pay with carnival gc's. I've found them to consistently be about 8-12% cheaper than going through Carnival directly.

Fingers crossed and good luck to us all :)
