  1. Norcal2...did the wife go topless too?

I was the wife so YES we were both topless! LOL

I got out of there so fast I didn't notice if DH was also see-through. Besides it was me the boat was trying to run over. It was a comedy of errors! :D

BTW: Warn me before you make me laugh that hard. Could have ruined my keyboard!

  2. I think it's mostly a matter of conditioning and familial and religious indoctrination.

My former spouse and I spent a week at St. Bart's' date=' which is a very French island, and nudity was pervasive. It was a little shocking and titillating (so to speak :D) the first day or two, but then, once we got used to it, it was no big deal at all. By the end of the week we weren't really paying much attention to it.[/quote']

We did the same thing but it was just topless as we were staying in the French side and the beach was only topless at that time. It was uncomfortable until it wasn't. I did not bring my bathing suit so at some point we decided to sneak away and find a secluded spot. No problem since everyone was topless and an isolated spot would not draw attention if they happened on us. I took everything off but by underpants and dove in.

    So here is the thing:

We looked up and there was a herd of people staring down at us. A boat filled with French guys kept drawing nearer and eventually were right beside me staring down. I looked down and realised my undies were now see through...

Seems the French guys were not conditioned for see-through undies at that time.

  3. I'm a beer girl though....that seems impossible...good thing I saved up lots of money for this cruise! haha

I just think its an interesting subject...seems to be almost a sport!

    DING! DING! DING!

I think it may be a sport. Someone can ask "Can we bring our own mix?" many will answer but some will say "Yes and Rum Runners" and it is starting to remind me of The Shining with Jack Nickolson "Redrum" except it is "Rumrunner". LOL

At least the OP on this one is actually asking about rum runners. ha ha

  4. All these stories are great keep them coming. Even though I'm not as "well off" as some people, and have to save up to go on a cruise. i guess someday one of these stories will be about me or one of my "lower class" family members. lol

Not to worry, the really comfortable ones are cruising on 50 day or more excursions on the Mediterranean or exotic sites aboard the ship that sells cabins that come with an interior decorator of your choice. You'll fit right in with everyone else. Cruises are reasonable and less than many land vacations, so see, you not only planned and saved, but you saved wisely and you will be the one with the biggest smile, enjoying your cruise more than most. How wonderful is that!

But I will still talk about something you did if you do something funny! :D

  5. The funniest thing I saw was not on a cruise. In a Mexico resort we met a couple on their honeymoon. The bride was very young and absolutely beautiful. 3 single women in their 40's who happened to be average looking seemed intent on giving the groom attention in front of his young bride. At some point he stopped seeing how lucky he was to marry her and he started flirting back. Apparently later he visited them and was gone too long.

That night my girlfriends and I sat in loungers in the pool area enjoying that no one else was around. Suddenly through the oversized double doors the beautiful, little bride raged and began tossing everything in her path including 2 giant Mexican urns that weighed more than she did. By the time she was done deck chairs and plants floated in the pool and Romeo up on his patio overlooking the pool was sobbing how sorry he was.

I guess you do not mess with a bride no matter how small they may be.

  6. Speaking of red speedos.... one year when we were in Key West' date=' we were walking along the beach and there was an old guy, very obviously a drunk, in front of us in a red speedo and he kept bending over to pick up stuff. We were trying to hurry and get past him and not have to keep seeing him bend over in front of us with his red-speedo tush up in the air, when he suddenly giggled and turned towards us, holding a piece of mirror he had found. He was preening and announced with a huge smile which was missing at least 50% of his teeth , "Mirrors are just marvelous!!!" It took quite a bit of time at the Hog's Breath Saloon and Sloppy Joe's to recover.[/quote']

It would take a shot for every time he bent over to erase that image! ROFL

  7. The most shocking (memorable) thing I saw on my last cruise was......

That one is easy for me... a drunk man of about 80 with leather skin from over tanning...wearing a bright red speedo ( it only covered portions of his anatomy;) ) dancing on the Lido with his loving wife at 8:00am! It was both yucky and amazingly sweet at the same time...you couldn't help but smile at the love between them...

I believe the highest courts have ruled the bright red speedo's illegal - or maybe I just thought they should be. :D

  8. The star means you have been identified as a member of CC :) Be warned that your luggage will be searched thoroughly (shoes and void spaces included) for any smuggling. You may or may not be strip searched when you board the ship :)

LOLOLOL! The next question is going to be "How Can I Remove My Big Red Star". Too funny!

  9. I'm the one who booked the cruise and had no red star when this thread started, now today, I have a red star. I just called to order alcohol and the star appeared right after?????

Then I can still hope we, the starred ones, are indeed super stars to Carnival! lol

Somehow I suspect the real reason is going to be a lot less enjoyable than all the guesses have been. Love this thread!

  10. isnt this site or post monitored by the CS people at CC?? You'd think they would do a post to "clarify" some of the questions like this one for all its members, who were on the site.

If I understand you correctly that you are puzzled by the original post question of the red star, I'll try to answer: For anyone who has not accessed their Carnival account online it may seem obscure but if you do access your cruise on the Carnival site you will see the details of your trip. In one link that has the names of your party there may or may not be a big Red Star next to one of the names. Hope that helps.

My personal hope is that the big red star by my name does mean I am a super star but I suspect it means I am the one who booked the cruise.

  11. I'll try to insert a photo but it may not work. If it does it is the Noordam wrap around balcony. Cross your fingers:

Ok I see how it works. I'll have to resize the photos as these were too big. Thanks.

  12. I have to agree with those who say it is ok to go around someone intensely studying one food group on the buffet, if you yourself are not going to get something from that area. This seems to be the norm as long as it is not a rude version like reaching across someone or going around and then studying the same food group selections.

It may seem to be rude to do it if line cutting is applied to it but it really isn't. It is more about a smooth and faster procedure where no one can hold up the line or feel rushed. It is the norm in Vegas as has been mentioned and in many other buffets in other states. Some excuse themselves and some don't as they go around but I do not see either as rude as it takes the pressure off me to move fast if I am considering what I want. The line cutting I hate is cutting to get to the front of the line where everyone is waiting to be seated or to get to the food counters. To me that is cutting. Once we are at the counter and getting food it makes no sense to hold up a hundred people because I can't decide between beef, chicken, or a Sundae.
