    September is P season

We just got off the Anthem on Saturday.  When we first got on my wife ran to Coastal Kitchen and got us reservations.  We scheduled dining at 7:30 but were able to get there earlier and never had a problem getting seated.  Food was good as usual.

  2. The pass is not necessarily the best. To Hamilton and St. George's the ferries are best. A token is $4.50 or $5 cash. For Horseshoe Bay the $7 minibus shuttle is better than the public bus. The minibus goes down the hill and up the hill. Whether to get a one or two day transportation pass or not depends on ones plans. I don't buy the passes anymore only individual trips because I only go to St. George's, Hamiltion, on ferries and I don't take the public bus to the beach.

We have been to Bermuda several times but have always taken the cruise excursion. Where do we get the mini bus? Is it $7.00 each way per person?

    Thanks

  3. What I did notice was that the 3, 4 and 5 night packages were slightly cheaper onboard than online prior to departure. However, I am pretty sure that they added a service charge onto those prices so they ended up being slightly more expensive if you waited until you were onboard to purchase.

I did not ask for any deals but they were heavily selling the specialty restaurants each day so I'm sure you could bargain. When they tell you the price, ask if service charge is included, because that will make it more $ than you expect if it is not.

We have eaten in these places many times. The specialty restaurants price includes the service charge. If you want to add more that is up to you.

  4. Looking to cruise to Bermuda in late May or early June next year on either Anthem (out of NJ, big ship) or Grandeur out of Baltimore (medium size ship).

We really don't care about the fancy bells and whistles of the Anthem.

What we care about is fewer teenagers. Decent food and a relaxing ship. Good shows. Never been on Royal however we liked a Princess cruise when the school was still on so not that many teenagers.

Middle to the end of May. Not too hot, not very humid or rainy. Not many kids as NJ schools are still in session. We have done this several times and never a problem.

  5. I have encountered folks that have:

    1. Had bags put on the wrong ship when they boarded on a day with multiple ships in port at the same pier

    2. Had bags that had to be retrieved from the water when an entire container got dumped when being loaded onto the ship (the ship paid for laundering all of the clothes and cleaned the bags, was 2 days before they got access to their belongings). The ship sent divers down to retrieve the bags from the bottom. Some floated and they were able to fish them out fairly quickly. Entertaining to watch from the ship.

    3. Had bags left on the pier

    4. Had bags delivered to the wrong room (the occupants just stuck them under their bed and never reported that they had the bags until the last night when they put their bags out and then asked the Steward what they should do with them)

While it is rare sometimes things do happen. Far more problems occur with baggage on airplanes on the way to the ship.

I will also say that I have never had a problem with my bags. But I do use clear plastic luggage tag holders both embarking and disembarking the ship and put two tags on each bag. Just in case.

A few years ago one of our bags was lost - I mean really lost. It was never found. We checked it in at the port, it was clearly marked but never appeared. Royal did compensate us and we did have insurance as well but what a hassle. All of our dress clothes- gowns, tux, etc. Hey, you never know!

  6. Youve been rude and condescending to people ever since you started this thread and you are gonna have the nerve to call someone rude? Pot meet kettle. As far as the rest of what youve posted. its nothing but opinions through someone else's eyes but your own. I doubt anyone is going to take you very seriously.

Thank you for your response. As you said, all of this is strictly one's opinion and you know what they say about opinions!!!

We have been on numerous RC Cruises. It's all what you make it. Maybe that is why we bring all the amenities we need as my wife is extremely particular about everything . I must say that we

have never had any complaints or problems with anything on Royal.

We took one Celebrity cruises and hated it and probably never will take another but that's our opinion.

  7. The hours don't change based on the length of the ship's voyages. The ship has its own schedule, and as stated above, Lounge hours for "free drinks" are based on the fixed traditional dining times.

The cocktail time begins one hour before first seating and ends at the start of second seating.

    5:30 & 8 traditional dining times = 4:30 to 8 "happy hours".

    6 & 8:30 traditional dining times = 5 to 8:30 "happy hours"

The hours apply wherever you get your drinks. (in the Lounge; at a bar with vouchers; where available, in the restaurants with vouchers)

Now and then there is a ship that deviates from this rubric. For a while, Anthem was one of them. Not sure what she is doing now. Haven't been on in six months.

We were on the Adventure in May and the hours in the Diamond Lounge were 4:30 to 8 PM. We will be on the ship again on 7/27. There will be a different concierge on duty as Christopher is gone for a while.

  8. Just completed our boarding passes on line for Adventure of the Seas. First change I noticed was the request for a mug shot similar to your passport photo. The photo that we attached will be partof our SeaPass card so I guess that means no photos upon check in. Youuse this boarding pass that we just printed to check in. Although I didread all the instructions about check in to see what has changed & it appearswe do have a few changes. I’m not sure if those just apply to the newerships or if, when this one was in dry dock, they upgraded that part of thesystem. I think it might be for the newer ships because there was thenote about your SeaPass card being used to activate power in your stateroom. Mostly whatI am referring to here is the room key. It’s more like a hotel keyconcept now where you just swipe it across the plate instead of insertingit. Something else that I saw, which we didn’t really care for, is that“your SeaPass card will be placed outside your cabin in a sealed envelope withyour name on it”. So (a) you don’t get it until you get to your cabininstead of when you check in & (b) that doesn’t sound very secure justhaving them outside your door. Anyone could take it. Ihope that is just on the newer ships. Any recent travelers that can answer my question about this?

You do not need your sea pass card to activate the power in your cabin on the Adventure. We were on her on May and will be again in three weeks.

  9. Plenty of food for sure. Jaimie's has always provided us a good experience. Chops on Anthem was beyond horrible. It took just shy of three hours and the wait between courses exceeded the bounds of reason.

This is a very objective topic. As for us, the worst place was Jamie's. If that's what they call Italian then You would be better off at Olive Garden which around here we say they are famous for Baloney Alfredo. YUK!

Chops had pretty good steak but their sides are getting smaller and smaller as noted on the Adventure of the Seas a few weeks back.

For foodies, you definitely need to go to Wonderland at least once. The experience and the food are both very unique and you definitely will not leave there hungry.

  10. A few of the Invicta watches are actually decent mechanical watches that use the Swiss Selitta movement. In most cases, they are decent watches worth the $200 to $300 they sell for. However, there are a number of them that, IMHO are very "gaudy" with fake diamonds & fake gold cases but there's an entire group of buyers for them so ... they capture that demographic with an affordable watch that those buyers "think" looks expensive.

I wear mechanical watches from one of the new-age horlogist out of London that employs similar Swiss movements but has also developed their own movements. Here are a few reviews of my C9 5-day dress watch.

Like many of you on here, my wife uses a fit bit as her watch but she will wear the nice mechanical one I bought her for a few dress up occasions like on a cruise ship. Nothing too fancy. Just a bit nicer that a fit bit. Here is a review of her "dress" watch

For about 2 years my sister-in-law was a Timex watch marketer who was responsible for stocking wal-mart and the like. Not bad quartz watches for the price. I have a few of them in a drawer around here somewhere but never wear them any more.

I guess I am a member of that certain group who enjoy and treasure my Invicta watches. I have 41 of them, the majority are swiss movement, and none are what would be considered "Gaudy" or with fake diamonds. Some are big but I appreciate that look. I have purchased most of them from one of the TV shopping channels and have found the prices to be comparable to Amazon. I also purchased a few on board and, since I know my prices, have done very well on my purchases. These watches wear like iron and just keep on ticking with no problems what so ever. Everyone has their own preferences, one of mine happens to be Invicta!!!

  11. Still confused....so is there a separate Diamond and Concierge Lounge, or is it same room for all suite guests? Sounds like it's 'all for one and one for all' !

We will be on the Adventure next month. We are Diamond and are in a Jr. Suite. Will we have 24 hour access?

    Thanks,

  12. Hello all -

Traveling on Adventure in April 2018 and trying to determine if I have a balcony room or a panoramic ocean view. We are traveling with 2 other couples who are also on deck 12 in the new staterooms. When we all first originally booked we reserved ocean view balcony rooms. After logging in to research shore excursions weeks back we all realized that our stateroom types had changed to panoramic ocean views. We all called RCCL to question the issue and all of us received different answers about what type of rooms we all actually have. Some agents said ocean view balcony and some said panoramic. I don't think they know left from right over there...

Specifically, my wife and I are in room 1828, another couple is in 1826, and the third is in room 1886. The maps online don't jive either, some show the rooms on deck 12 as all panoramic and some show mixed balconies and panoramic. Nobody seems to know the answer.

Wondering if anybody has any information about this??? Either a recent cruiser on the ship or somebody that is well versed in the matter. I'm hoping to have a balcony in 1828 as that is what I'd reserved way back in July.

Visit the links to see the difference in deck 12 layouts.

    Thanks for any help!!

    According to *************.com:

Two lower twin beds convert to Royal King, measuring 72.5 inches wide by 82 inches long. Double sofa bed for quad staterooms. Vanity with sitting area, Private bathroom with shower. Floor to Ceiling wrap around panoramic window, 76 inches high by 103 inches wide. (188 sq. ft.)

The same description describes the cabins you mentioned both prior to and after dry-dock.

    Hope this helps.

  13. Looking at the Large Balcony Oceanview Cabins. There are the following left:

    8246; 8244; 8162 on deck 8

7260 (which is long on deckplan); 7254; 7258; 7645; 7658 (short and wide on deck plans) on deck 7

Anyone see anything I should avoid or are all these cabins relatively the same in every way/location wise/port side vs starboard, etc.

Don't want to have an overhang to fully shade balcony if possible; would like a nice unobstructed view as I'd love to spend lots of time reading on my balcony on sea-days if the pool deck is too busy for my liking.

    Thanks

We were on the Anthem twice in 2017 and we loved the Spa Jr Suites we had on the hump. We had 7236 and 7642. On the later we were able to see many of the America's Cup races with a glass of wine right from our balcony.

  14. Hello! I’m considering this cabin, can you tell me if the bed was by the bathroom or the balcony and was it noisy since it’s right below the pool deck? Thanks a bunch! Hope you had a nice trip!

Cabin 9234 has cabins above it. Deck 14 is the pool deck. It is also easy to get to as it is right by the elevators.

  15. Two things I'm not loving is the beds are pretty hard, not soft at all. We have a pretty big standard balcony on deck 12 and the beds aren't the most comfortable. The other thing is what's with the tiny baby pillows? They are small and are too soft so it's like your head is laying flat to the bed.

We are eating at Jamie's tonight and I've been looking forward to this for quite some time.

How did you like Jamie's? We didn't like it at all and will never go back. Real Italian food it isn't. Perhaps it is good for people who are not Italian and who would think catsup on egg noodles is great - Yuk!

  16. Hi,

We are going to spend a couple weeks on Ovation in April and one of the dining options is Wonderland. I will probably get few responses from passengers that have gone on Ovation but I bet there are many of you who have gone to Wonderland on other ships and are ready to tell me you experience.

So ok Alice, good, bad or ugly what did you think of Wonderland? Food, service, atmosphere, anything you want to share. Pictures would be great too. :D

We were on the Anthem of the Seas twice in the last six months and went to Wonderland twice. The food was both interesting and delicious. They give you plenty of food, especially the main course of chicken, beef or fish or all of them. Don't forget the "World" desert which will blow your mind when it is presented.

We loved the atmosphere and the service and will definitely go back again when we have the opportunity.

  17. I have an idea and I'm being very serious here. If you miss and long for the dress code on the great ocean liners of yesteryear such as Titanic and Lustitania then just go sail on Cunard. They have maintained that style for the most part. I just do not, for the life of me understand the fighting that goes on with threads like this.

Sent from my Pixel using Forums mobile app

To each his own. If dressing down is your style then go for it. My wife and I prefer to look good at all times especially at dinner. I just don't appreciate when folks look like they are going to Mc Donalds when they walk into a beautiful dining venue. Kinda cheapens the evening
