  1. I'm sorry to hear about this change, but I'm glad I'll be able to experience DD in 13 days on Anthem. I was on the Disney Dream in 2013, and I enjoyed going to a different venue every night and having new menu choices.

I agree with a previous poster - I can't imagine if Silk was my dining assignment for 9 consecutive nights.

  2. I'm trying to decide on Acadia NP Tours or Oli's. My main interest is to view the beautiful scenery - Cadillac Mt is not a requirement. My decision will be based on the walking distance from the tender port to the bus/trolley entrance. I'm able to walk but I have arthritis in my knees, so I do prefer less walking. I'll be there the end of September. I recall reading on other reviews that Boarding the I.E. Bus can be iffy based on crowds. That's why I'm deciding between ANP and Oli. Thanks.

  3. Thanks for the venue report. I'm glad you had a chance to walk through the Solarium. I understand that with a 4 year old you couldn't stay for long.

I imagine myself spending a lot of time at the Solarium, Two70, and lounges like Boleros. I'm traveling solo, and I plan to post a review from a solo traveler's perspective when I return. I like how you summarized your review into hot topics. Thanks for taking time to post your review!

  4. Thank you for the detailed review. I like late dining, and I have a go with the flow attitude also, so I'm sure I'll love my Anthem cruise to New England/Canada next month.

I'll be on a first name basis with the bartenders at Boleros, Two70, and the Solarium bar by the 2nd day. By the way, did you visit Boleros or Vintages? I don't see many reviews of those 2 venues.

    Thanks again!

  5. Did you get a room assignment yet? Are you a crown and anchor member?

If you don't have a room assignment and you are a C&A member, sign on to C&A on the Royal website and set your profile to allow upgrades. This may improve your chances of getting a regular inside instead of a real SI cabin.

This strategy works really well with the SB category. I don't know about the SI category. There are only 16 SI cabins and 12 SB cabins on the ship. Royal has been selling the SB as guarantees when the category is actually sold out. I booked a SB guarantee for next Feb and as expected got assigned to a regular DO (obstructed balcony) on deck 6. That means I get a full sized balcony, but with an obstructed view. I can live with that to save 600.

Before I had the chance to follow your advice, I got my assignment and it is an upgrade to a regular inside virtual balcony room (deck 7 forward). I'm giddy over my upgrade from studio to regular cabin. I can only imagine how you feel about your obstructed balcony.

  6. I am sailing solo for the very first time on NCL. On our roll call, some of us solos are meeting for dinner the first night. I am sailing in a studio, so we also have a solo gathering to meet others.

BTW I am happily married but my DH can't get off from work and I need a break from this tough winter. I am mobility challenged (cane) and fluffy, so I hope I can make some friends and not be ostracized. My main goal is to relax. Years ago I have traveled solo on business, but this will be my first solo vacation.

I'm a fluffy girl too. Just returned from my first solo cruise and I had a very positive experience which I'll post about later. You'll have a great time.

  7. I can't wait to take my first solo cruise (9 days from now) and come back with a funny story or two.

I have solo traveled on numerous land trips but never bothered by other travelers. A few bartenders or bellmen have been a little nosey, but nothing that rose to the level of these stories.

At least now I'll have some good comebacks.

  8. Thank you for the response. I was really looking for the financial benefits of booking onboard vs. not. It's confusing because I've seen some posts that say offers can't be combined (OBC plus whatever promotion is going on at the time).

I found this thread which provided some insight, but still conflicting info about whether you can get the OBC, updgrade within stateroom type, and current promotion (which is currently PYP).

  9. I have taken solo vacations, but this will be my first solo cruise. I was on a family cruise last month on the Disney Dream. It was a great trip, but all I could think of since I got back home was how much more time I needed.

That's why I booked the Constellation. I need some time to kick back, read the books I brought along last month, and enjoy some good food.

  10. Not a good experience for a first-time Celebrity cruiser. This morning (before the website problems) I paid in full for a booking that I had on hold.

I waited an hour after receiving the receipt of payment by email, and then I proceeded to login online and add my dining and beverage packages, but I wasn't able to. That's when I noticed that the reservation still showed up as 'On Hold'. When I called to find out why the status wasn't changed to Confirmed or Reserved paid in full, that's when the website went down.

I do hope this is resolved soon and I'm able to keep the room that I paid for. I'm glad I have that email receipt of full payment.

  11. I love the pictures. What was the atmosphere like in the living room? Did you ever see people hanging out or meeting other others?

It's funny about the small waste basket. I stayed in 2 different hotels in Ireland recently and they both had the minature trash cans that you described. They even had the pedal that you step on to open it, but the can was so small that when you stepped on the pedal the trash can almost fell over.
