I was speaking with Costa and it's is suspected that it will be cancelled and are going to be given options for a full refund or a Future cruise  certificate , etc.....Maybe it will just sail the Caribbean ? Call them next Monday. They are right now working on the cruise leaving on the 17th .....

We will go next year !

Your choice. If you don't like the new itinerary, get your money back plus the 15% FCC and reschedule.

It's probably just a maintenance issue.

 

They're not going to compromise the safety of 3000 passengers.

If it were mechanical and compromising passengers safety......They wouldn't wait until Dec!

Yes, we were on the Allure last Halloween. I would guess 50% of the PAX go all out with costumes to rival Hollywood. It was so much fun I would do it again.

Just booked a Halloween Cruise aboard the Oasis of the Seas for October 29/17. What amazing deals they have on. I booked interior GTY Bogo and good a Central Park view with balcony ! It is my first time on a Quantum Ship and first time on a Halloween cruise .

Does Oasis do anything for Halloween ?

They are waiting for the Ports to report and give an estimate when they will reopen. Sadly its not up to Carnival to reopen them, they are depending on the port too!

NOBODY IS BLAMING CARNIVAL, everyone understand Hurricane Irma was the cause .......However Carnival needs to let these thousands of passengers know the status of their cruises . Carnival is responsible for not informing the thousand of patriots that going to embark on City without power , hotels, restaurants , flooded roads etc....

They need to cancel flights.........People , fly in . The people who drive will have a hard time getting to the port as well.... CANCEL the cruise already !

Just spoke with Carnival. They have no idea if these cruises are sailing tomorrow or if they have been cancelled......

My flights with air Canada into Ft Lauderdale are cancelled for tomorrow as the airport is closed due to Hurricane Irma. They could get me on at 5.50 am for Ft Lauderdale Tuesday but what if there is no power, and the ships doesn't"t make it back to port by Tuesday ? I can't honestly see the Conquest getting back from Mexico by Tuesday given the hurricanes ?

These last minute decisions are difficult for those out of country .....I think Carnival should have just cancelled. Flying in for a 4 day cruise with one port is not appealing on rough seas and not worth the money to get to Florida for 4 days? Anne else feel the same ?

Royal Caribbean and Norwegian send out memos saying the Eastern cruises would now be changed to Western until at least November . I suspect Carnival will do the same .....

I certainly wouldn't bet on it given that the storm is just beginning and is expected to last until Sunday evening. Then following the storm safety inspections need to be completed to ensure the worthiness of the the airport, planes may need to be re-positioned (I believe they tried to get as many as possible out of MIA and FLL when the fear was that the worst of the storm would hit the south east coast), and finally (actually I'm sure I left out other activities that need to take place) staff need to be able to reach the airport.

Probably can't tell you the timing for Cozumel yet because that port is still trying to figure out how many additional ships it can accommodate and when berths will be available. Remember, slots are contracted out almost a year in advance.

If no flights, will Carnival refund you for the cruise?

Future cruise credit on the base. The prepaid gratuities , taxes and port fees go to the sail and sign account.....Air Canada will extend booking until Oct....

My Cruise on Carnival Conquest went from a 7 night to 4 night. We are scheduled to leave on sept 12th . I will in New Brunswick, Canada and have to fly in on Monday ....

Do you think Flights will be able to land around noon on Monday ?

I don't like that we aren't even told what day we will be in Cozumel or what times.....That forces us to purchase Carnival excursion just like the future certificates and prorated taxes, port fee being placed on our sail and sign account......Carnival basically making us give our money back to them .....

I could not get a answer from my contact at Carnival either. I believe it takes a day and a half to get there. But that is based off friends who have been there before not experience. I would like to know what the difference in price is as well, how much will be refunded.

 

I am also on this cruise and very upset that they did not just cancel it. And now there is a earthquake that hit Mexico. We are not destined for vacation this week.

I have been to Cozumel several times but not direct from a port . Although it took one day to get there from Key West.......

Why couldn't Carnival split the cruise with the next going out .....borrowed a day to give us more then 1 port day . Oh well....We just have to make the best of it . Carnival may very well cancel after the hurricane in Florida due to damage.

I'm going to go ahead and wrap this up, I suppose... This will go down as the only "Live Review" that never even got within 3,000 miles of the actual ship. Basically, the story here is that Carnival now expects thousands of people to try and get to Miami somehow, not even knowing what sort of conditions will prevail by then. My idea of a vacation is not travailing over downed trees and through puddles of water for 800 miles. They say that they will "pro-rate" the refund for the 3 days that everyone will miss, plus a "future cruise credit" for the remaining 5/8ths of the money...

Norweigian and Royal have issued full refunds, above and beyond the price paid for the cancelled cruises. Carnival has decided that their bottom line is more important than their passengers. Carnival can roll up my "future cruise credit" tightly, and stick it deeply where the sun don't shine. I'm done with them forever. I have gone ahead and booked the NCL Escape for Halloween week, and will try to put the lost money behind me. I honestly feel that Carnival is shooting themselves in the foot with this move, but I am not the one making that decision. They had their chance to really step up and show people that their passengers were their top priority, and they failed miserably...

That's pretty much it, folks. For those who made it this far, thanks for following along. I will pick up where this led off on the NCL board inabout 45 days from now. Until then, adios. sid=out...

The pro-rate ,,,goes on your sail and sign account to give back to Carnival should you decide to take the cruise :( It should go back to the credit card so we can decide for ourself where to spend our hard earned dollars. I have cruised 26 times . I don;t drink and my gratuties are paid . I am so past of buying souveniors on a cruise ship.......there is nothing new anymore !

Good Morning everyone......I had my 7 day cruise changed to a 4 night cruise. I am just going to Cozumel aboard Carnival Conquest from Port Everglades. There is no information on when we will be in Cozumel . How long does it take to get to Cozumel direct from Port Everglade ? Would like to book an excursion . I called Carnival and they don't know if we will be there two days , one day or when .....

I am taking my lemons and making lemonade......After three knee revisions in 4 years due to a chromium allergy just discovered June and a 3rd revision followed three weeks later ......I am turning this bad luck CRAP around . Throw them lemons because i understanding you can make great lemonade :cool:

I can't get onto Carnival.com to see officially has changed. I need to change my flight for which i am suppose to fly out tomorrow ......This is insanity !

Under normal circumstances, yeah that would be a nice trip but I didn't decide on a cruise just to go on vacation. I chose a cruise to get away to a beach. May sound pathetic but I wanted to be able to go some place nice and slightly warm and experience a beach. I have never been able to do that so I would say that going from that opportunity to New England/Canada is a major deviation. I was hoping for at least Bermuda as it would've been similar. I apologize that I am upset about it as I am not blaming Carnival and this hasn't put me off from trying to cruise again. I just expected something better. Now I have to decide if I want to just go ahead and go or cancel and attempt something in October.

This time in Canada , is not the best . I live in Fredericton about 90 kms from Port of Saint John. Most people go to Canada in the summer which is now over and in later fall to see the spectacular fall Foliage in it's brightest and amazing colors... That happens October. There will be no warm turquoise waters here . No swimming unless you don;t mind chilly in the 70's water temps ?! Where are you going ? for this Canadian cruise....

I don;t like that my gratuties are not given back to my for the 7 day cruise and instead put in my sail in sign account . Same as my taxes and port fees...... have cruised 22 cruise and there isn't much i purchase on a cruise. I am not a drinker ......I also dont like going from four ports to one ....They could have done better ...

I received an email last night saying Conquest was cancelled because the ship can't get back to port on Saturday . I think they are trying to salvage as much as they can of these cruises by shortening the 7 days to 5 days .....

However for those of us waiting. We need to cancel or change hotel and air reservations ! Why isn't Carnival informing everyone ?

I was sent an email . I was doing a seminar at sea for travel agent on Carnival Conquest 9/9 . They sent me the email tonight . IT said the ship can't get back in port Saturday....

I was hoping that it would at least set sail Monday ......but if they take direct hit . It could be a while before anyone cruises :( ,,,,,IMO

I have mixed emotions. I was so looking forward to this vacation. We were driving over to Orlando and doing Disney's and Universal's Halloween parties .....

I have been on a cruise in bad weather and it wasn't pleasant. Although I had no motion sickness, everyone around me did . I was dodging vomit on the floors in the halls, the elevators and witnessed people vomiting in the dining room and coming out with barf bags.....

So really, had we gone , the seas would have been rough. God knows, the storm hasn't even hit and it could easily shift position and head in the direction we were diverting too ....

We are a alive and breathing. Those beautiful Islands we love and treasure.....are destroyed. Their people so poor to begin with and whose top industry is tourism , can no longer depend on it for God knows how long ....:(:loudcry:

At least we are given the opportunity dodge this . Those people didn't !
