  1. We had this type of room on one of our cruises and it was awful.  They played and sang till at least 1:30 AM.  There were evenings when everyone in the bar sang every song that was played.  It was my fault for picking this room.  I usually check what is above and below me.  I had no one to blame but myself.   We went to the comedy club some nights but we were usually in bed by 9:30 PM other nights.  We are early risers.  Once you make this mistake, you will never make it again.  Good luck.

  3. We were on the Ecstasy the cruise before yours. My DH and I just turned platinum on this cruise.

We found the food very good in the dining room. We had any time dining and service was very good. For lunch, we tried brunch in the main dining room on sea day, tried the buffet another day and also tried the deli. No complaints.

The ship was very clean. While we were in Nassau maintenance was painting the outside of the ship.

We did the comedy club twice and were not disappointed.

The captain announced Thursday evening that we were going to slow down to stay behind Hurricane Hermine and would be late getting back to Charleston on Saturday. He did a fantastic job. We arrived in Charleston about an hour late and never felt the ship rock or pitch in the rough sea.

  4. On our 5 day cruise out of Charleston, the room steward introduced himself the first afternoon. He had a printed paper in his hand that had various things on it. He asked if we wanted the room done in the morning or in the evening. We chose morning. Then he asked if we wanted robes. There were no robes in the closet. We said no thank you. Then he asked if we need more pillows, blankets, ice, or towels. Again we said we were fine.

The towel animals were on our bed in the morning after our room was cleaned.

The fun times was placed on the bed in the evening for the next day. No room service was done and we did not expect any since we chose morning service.

We turned platinum this cruise and enjoyed the little perks that came with it. The change of service or services does not influence how we enjoy cruising.

  5. We did the Fantasy last March 2015 out of Charleston. We had 1200 college kids on board. We were never able to find 1 vacant outside chair - lounge or regular. The kids were partying until 4 AM and were outside on deck at 7 AM. The only places to sit were inside and I wanted to enjoy the outside sea air. Was not going to happen this trip. For me, I will never cruise the end of Feb or the whole month of March. 5 and 7 days cruises during this time are packed with college kids then add in the families with younger kids that are also on spring break.

  6. We have an extended aft balcony on the Valor for Oct. 17, 2015 and our neighbors also booked the room next to ours. This is their first cruise and our 7th with Carnival. Aug. 30th I got a call to upgrade to an ocean view suite for both our room and our friends' room. Before I got the details, I declined. My husband has been so excited about the extended aft balcony that I did not want to switch. This was our first call from the upsell fairy. At least I know she is alive and well....and still calling people.

  7. We just booked this cruise on Saturday with an ocean view room to be assigned. The rep said to check 2-3 days before sailing. We checked yesterday and we have already been assigned a room. It is an ocean view room on deck 4 - the lowest deck for passengers. We did a cruise last October and it was on deck 5 with only 1 passenger deck below us. It was not a problem. We felt a little vibration when left a port for a few minutes but nothing more. We did a cruise a few years ago (another cruise line) and had a balcony room but it was directly under the basketball court. The noise and pounding from above was terrible but it was my fault for not checking our the floor plan before booking I think any room you get you will be happy with.

  8. All the dessert choices at the buffet - something for everyone.

I love the iced tea mixed with a little lemonade.

I love that there is always a quiet place to sit and read or just people watch.

I've been on 13 cruises (6 with Carnival) and Carnival is by far, my favorite.

  9. DH and I will be sailing with you 5 weeks from today. This is our 13th cruise and the 7th on Carnival. The thrill of boarding the ship never gets old. I don't ever mind standing in line to board because they aren't going to leave without me and they don't run out of food at the buffet. DH measures the weeks by how many times he has to cut grass before we leave.

  10. I have been watching prices for an October cruise but yesterday nothing was showing up. I called my PVP and she said they are working on their system and they have a temporary glitch. I booked my October cruise last night with her. She did say it was quite full but still had rooms that I was not able to see. I booked an OV aft - love the back of the ship - for 7 days and got a price of $559 per person. I paid the cruise in full. If the price comes down before Aug. 4th, I just call her and she will reprocess and give me an OBC for the difference.

  11. DH and I did the Fantasy in March out of Charleston. We don't need the razzle dazzle of the newer, bigger ships and enjoy the smaller ships. Debarkation was a nightmare. The reason being is the debarkation process is governed by two things. One is the city of Charleston mandated the silent process for noise control. Second is the customs agents. If they are not there on time and ready to start their part of the job, people stand in line and wait. We had priority debarkation but did get off the ship until 10:00 A.M.

This was our 12th cruise. Sometimes the staff will remember our names, sometimes not. Sometimes we never met our room steward but the room was always perfect.

Please don't give up on cruising, especially with Carnival. Try another ship and definitely another port. We love New Orleans and Galveston. Our next cruise will leave from Port Canaveral and that will be a new one for us.

We have traveled all over the United States by car but nothing can beat the relaxation of a cruise.

  12. Each offer has an offer code and you have to be either sent the offer through the mail or through an email.

I had an offer with code 0W8 that was sent in the mail. I booked the cruise 2 weeks ago for a March cruise. $100 on board credit plus a one-time upgrade to VIFP platinum status. If I paid with any MasterCard, I would be emailed a $50 e-card that I can use as an on board credit toward tips, purchases, or excursions. I received the e-card in today's email. The $100 onboard credit was put on my account when I booked my cruise. It is supposed to be on my sign and sail account when I board.

It also had up to $100 off my cruise BUT I was told I picked a cruise that was already at its lowest price and she was unable to take any more off.
