  1. the old standby is Sheraton Old San Juan. Literally across the street from where SD docks. Nice for walking OSJ too. Not too pricey, not too nice, though we were upgraded to a harbor view suite once and thoroughly enjoyed it. You can not stay any closer to the docks. Unfortunately, it is also close to a jewelry store that is a particular favorite with Lois. They even serve me cerveza while she shops.:D

Beer is good! But you're REALLY addicted to SD, when you willingly sit there, drinking beer, thinking about getting on the ship, not about how much your wife is spending in the jewelry store!

  2. You know when you're addicted to SeaDream when one of your favorite Christmas presents arrives in the mail from a fellow junkie ... brand new, never been used SeaDream luggage tags!:D

DJ's DH and I used e-docs for our November trip so we didn't receive the luggage tags.

You gotta love SeaDreaming friends who feed the addiction!

Yeah...luv 'em. Thanks Ctbjr... She's now gonna w(h)ine and cry until you guys depart in January, and she realizes that she really isn't joining you... And it will be down-hill from there!

I must say, if money (or a job!) weren't an issue, we'd be there with you in a heartbeat!

  3. I think you should!! What wonderful postings about the crossing and all else! I first the motion--SDJen!! Sounds good! You deserve it. :p

My vote was for "GoofyJen", but I got voted off the island:(

All I know, is that she has a passion for both...so when Jen says "why dont' we...", you can bet there is a 95% (or greater) chance it has something to do with Disney or SD... and my response is (whenever possible, of course)..."yes, Dear!"

And with all due respect, there aren't too many people out there more knowledgable about both, than my very own DisneyJen!

    How does SDisneyJen sound?

  4. We all count on you!

No one more than DJ's DH!!!:D

In our (almost) 30 years together:eek:, Disney Jen has opened my eyes to new artists, new new destinations, new ways of enjoying life:cool:.

Mark my words... if Disney Jen says "this sounds really neat"... it is!

ctbjr1309: While I would LOVE to gawk at engineering marvels such as Freedom or Oasis... you won't catch me on one of those mega ships (unless I have the luck to tour one!!!).

I don't enjoy the crowds. I don't enjoy formal night. I don't need to be entertained.

I do love cruising, I love the islands, the sea, the wind, and the opportunity to read more novels in 1-cruise, than I am able to read the rest of the year.

  5. I don't think we qualify to answer your question since we haven't tried the other luxury lines - one primary reason -- I refuse to take formal clothes on a vacation. I will not be told how to dress to eat in public places or appear after 6 pm. And the larger the ships get, the more likely there are to be lines and crowds so I'm less likely to try to larger ships but I love reading the comments of others . . . . I hope DisneyJen and DJ's DH weigh in here

    FT

I also refuse to be told how to dress, and where to be. This is my vacation, and I want the flexibility of doing what I want, when I want to.

While I realize DJ likes to "dress-up" once and a while (not me!), I can say with great confidence that she is more than relaxed with the "casual elegance" afforded by Sea Dream.

It is what you make of it - you can get "formal nights" on almost any luxury, mid-size, or mass-market cruise line. I love SD for the lack thereof.:D
