  1. Hello,

My information comes directly from two sources at the hotel.

The hotel concierge and I emailed back and forth over 2 days about it (they were very quick to respond and very helpful - the only thing they can't seem to provide me is a description of the actual structure.)

Also, the spa (Eko Lestari) and I emailed back and forth over days about it. The spa actually provided me a menu of options for the beach cabana ranging in price from $300-$400. They also pointed out that the beach cabana does not have pool access.

Feel free to email the hotel yourself about it to confirm. The email address I used is: ebbda-concierge@mohg.com and EBBDA-Spa@mohg.com.

When we checked in for our spa cabana, the desk clerk did ask if it was a spa or beach cabana. I told him spa (as I didn't know there were beach cabanas) and he escorted us to the spa/pool area. I looked everywhere on the beach and didn't see any structures at all, so I am also very curious as to what these elusive beach bungalows :) are!

ETA: Sounds from the description above that it's not a structure, but just chairs, etc. on the beach?? We got the beach chairs w/covers, towels (all set up for us by the attnedant), water and ice included in our spa cabana rental. Also, the food and beverage service on the beach was attentive and very good.

  2. Wow, small world. I grew up in Carrollton...just north of Dallas. We decided in 2007 that we want to get away from the fast paced atmosphere of Dallas, so after much research and a trip to Knoxville we moved. I absolutely love it out here and have become a Vol fan. Last year I was thrilled with A&M joining the SEC. Gig 'Em!

My husband attended the 'other' UT in Austin. My daughter is a Gamecock! I love Knoxville. I grew up here in Arlington and one of my classmates is married to the head golf coach at UT!

Ok...sorry for the interruption! Back to recycling! :D

  3. Ok, now it makes sense...I couldn't figure out when I mentioned Walt was from KC. We moved from Dallas to Knoxville in 2007 and absolutely love it out here. Where did you live in Texas?

Sorry to butt in on your conversation! I just stumbled on this thread and I love it (and all of you ladies, especially Marie seem so kind and generous!)!! I might post a few of my dresses that I know I won't wear again! Size 8 and 10.....more to come.

You caught my attention when you said you moved from Texas to Knoxville. I'm from Memphis, but grew up and live in the DFW area. I'm also a UT grad! Go Vols! :D

  4. I totally agree with you. I specifically frequent W Hotels on my travels because they are upscale AND trendy. And the Solstice Class ships remind me a lot of W Hotels - especially the music in the Martini Bar. In fact, the whole vibe of the Martini Bar is one of the things that really sold me on Celebrity when I first sailed them. I am in my mid-30s and enjoy the high energy feel the music creates. I can afford luxury cruises, but usually don't choose them because it is way too sedate for my taste. And I appreciate that Celebrity creates a high-end environment that is not loud and rowdy, but not coma-inducing either.

    This.

  5. Wow! So much more than I expected! Thank you everyone! Not really surprised about the lack of takers on the unpacking/packing option....it is personal. However, I'm thinking of packing more 'personal' items separately and allowing the butler to unpack the rest (hanging dresses, slacks, etc.). I'm just that curious! When we did this in a land resort, they left behind a sewing kit with thread that matched all of your clothing colors! I thought that was so cool....not that I would have been sewing at any point during our stay, but thought it was a nice touch.

I also started this thread to see what I might be missing out on! Thanks to all, especially the tip on the book about Vegas hosts! Keep 'em coming! I love reading your replies. :)

  6. I am curious about your experience with the butlers on Celebrity. I have experienced butler service at a couple of very nice land resorts but not on a cruise ship (yet). :). I am particularly interested in anyone's experience with the unpacking/packing option. Loved it in Cabo, but would like to hear how Celebrity's service was. Also, what else did you ask of your butler? Thanks in advance for sharing.

  7. Crusinsuz, tks again for the advice. Where did u cruise from? Were u on the TA? I think everyone on this board should get a big round of applause. All of you have been so helpful. Especially to those of us who have never cruised b4. I'm looking forward in going on this cruise with my son. Will be great memories made.

    Tks again Lusitancia and crusinsuz

I cruised on the maiden Caribbean voyage on 7/10. You will have a fantastic time!!

Lusitanica has given great information to a lot of people and should be applauded!

  8. Tks lusitanica, I really appreciate you doing this. Now I am worried about the view. Looks like we can see straight ahead and towards the back of the ship, but will not be able to see the water to the front of the ship unless we are standing up.

Cruisinsuz, tks for your comments. Does make me feel a bit better. Just concerned as the pic here looks like we would be jammed beside the wall that faces the front of the ship. I just spoke to NCL and apparently all this category is sold out. Trying to figure out if I should upgrade or just stay and enjoy what we have. I would like to sit out on the balcony in the morning and then again later in the night. Won't be there much in the daytime.

You will NOT want to let this cabin go! It is awesome! Plenty of beautiful views! Yes, if you were leaning on your rail, you could see right into our balcony, but it wasn't any big deal...we could easily lean on our railing and see many others right down from us on the same deck, up, down and onto the exposed balconies below.

    Your view is wonderful...trust me!

You can see plenty of water--maybe not the 'waterline' but who cares? As long as my view was not obstructed by lifeboats, it was perfect!

Like I said before, you will LOVE it!

  9. 11019 has an unusual position.

The balcony has a triangular bump. The balcony towers over various assortment of open balconies on decks 8 and 9.

    Lifeboats are 5 balconies behind.

Although the sharper angle of the balcony technically reaches the outline of the cross section of the ship, you cannot see the waterline (the cross section is curved at this point).

There must be a good view forward if you hang out a bit.

We were right next door in 11021 and could see the water (not seeing the 'waterline' was not a bother--not sure why that would be a bad thing) and it does overlook other exposed balconies. We were envious of the larger balcony in 11019! You will LOVE it. Your bed is by the cabin door, btw.

    Have a blast! :D

  10. You guys are awesome...thank you for your responses and insight! OK, stupid question from a lurker who fully takes advantage of your wisdom!

OK, we are booked on the July 10 sailing (please, no delays!) and want to know if my balcony room 11021 is in-hull or not. I have tried to follow the conversation thus far, but am finding it hard to determine if mine is in that category. Any clues? Thanks so much!!!
