  1. Hi Cyn,

I went on the last cruise w/a transport chair. My SO was so gallant to drive me around all over the ship, and onto a couple of ports. The broken streets and lack of cut outs made things difficult for him. I can get up out of the chair and walk for a block, since I require O2. The chair was comfortable enough, but i was glad to sit in the dining room and buffet tables, w/the transport chair folded up in a corner. Handy that the chair would fit into most trunks or back seats for Ubers and Lyfts, and very useful at the airport. We would request a chair and assist upon arrival. SO could stack up our carry-on bags in the transport chair to make it easier for him to maneuver around to the gate.
This cruise, i am looking into a scooter, though. Would like to get around myself, if he wants to go have fun by himself. Seems they are portable and pretty easy to maneuver, too.
    Hope that helps.

We were told on both of our last two cruises that the double up is now permanent.

However, they have been running a continuous "Double Up" promotion for months now that allows you to use two certificates on a balcony or above on any sailing of 6 days or more, regardless of the date of the sailing. Currently that promo is set to expire on November 30, but they have been extending it every month since June or so as far as I know.

Hi, I'm confused. I just booked an 11-day cruise. Was told that I cannot use double up because we are not in a balcony or above. But the quote here says 6 days or more would qualify. Where did you find that verbiage, pls?
    Thank you!

  3. i come here to say good bye, then i read these nice comments about the good time people have had with me but i will not change my mind. as of today i will no longer be making booking here. I'm still on the beach the boards are still up and the chairs always available feel free to come rent from me.

Oh, no, i was looking forward to seeing my name on your boards! Will be on The Gem, arriving 3/22 in St. Lucia. Pls reserve 2 chairs for me and hubby, Castro.

  4. Hi, hoping someone could provide info on the showers on HC. We booked our cruise very last minute (2 weeks prior to boarding), so not much time to consider all the usual plans and research.

My husband and I are both recovering from recent medical issues. Figured some R&R onboard the Getaway would be just the ticket. More fun than chilling on netflix for weeks on end! Saw my Dr yesterday. She is advising that I avoid the pools, hot tubs and even the beaches since my stitches have not healed completely. She's afraid of infection if I were to get into 'iffy water.'

I called NCL and they confirmed there are indoor and outdoor showers on HC. Since I am sure to get very hot, I plan to stand under a shower for a few minutes to cool off, and keep that up while checking out the butterflies and whatever else there is to do. Lay out on some deck chairs, cool off in the showers.

Anyone want to hazard a guess if these showers are clean, filtered, potable water, or is it potentially yet another missed beach day for me?

Thanks for any tips or suggestions.

  5. Congratulations! What a great honeymoon you will have. The Caribbean Princess is a lovely ship and you have some interesting ports to visit.

    Best of luck.

    Thanks, Burm!

Re: Sex on balconies (or otherwise)... Honeymoon, 'nuff said! :p

  6. DH and I are very excited to cruise for the first time w/a balcony. We're off on our honeymoon in TWO Weeks!!

This might be a stupid question, but you guys are the balcony experts... Would it be possible to drag a lounger from the aft pool on Riviera deck to our balcony? We are just a couple of cabins from the pool area there. Or, should we ask our steward if we could have a lounger instead of chairs? Ideally we would like a lounger and a chair. Will that arrangement even fit on a BC balcony? Couldn't afford a mini-suite this time -- maybe on the next one.

How about if we brought a folding beach chaise w.us? (I know it sounds pretty tacky, but it's lightweight and completely comfy.) I'm all about relaxing on this trip and I like the idea of lounging around out on our very own balcony. :)

    Thanks!
