  1. where do you find your best deals? I had to change our flight and now flying home out of TPA. It's like $150 for a rental car for a day CRAZY..... help please

Try Alamo from MIA to TPA, they good rates. If you have Costco, you can book thru their website or use Costco ID#. I don't which day u are leaving but when I was looking for my car rental from MIA to FLL on 1/9th, you could get full size for under $40 including taxes.

    Good luck

  2. Like others , do the day and night walking on LaRambla. Be careful of the pickpockers! Best part was when we walk the street early morning around 7am there few people walking and we took lot of awesome pictures of the buildings and etc. Overall I felt very safe during evening walks (very crowded). I had safepac neck pouch!!!

Recommend the market and enjoy breakfast at Pintotxo Bar!!!

The Old Gothic neighborhood was very nice around Picasso Museum.

Oh... avoid the restaurants on LaRambla at all cost!!!

There some good restaurants in Placa Reial courtyard (right after Carrer de La Unio street)

    Enjoy this beautiful city!!!

  3. We will be carrying a camera bag with us, I read on another site that you have to leave the bags at a check in place. Is this correct or do they just check it and you get to keep it with you?

    Thanks for any insight.

No they didn't ask me or check my camera bag(sling bag). I was there on June 27th.

  4. There few taxi drivers who will take advantage of us tourist by either taking you on extra ride to give a tour(detour) or doing the "slow route" to eat up the meter. Example one, from our hotel Le Meridien to Sagrada La Familia the taxi driver took us on detour to see the hospital de La Santa(added extra 3 Euros). Example two, going from port to our hotel Four Points Sheraton, our driver too the slow scenic route and stop at every light and crosswalks, why our friends go the hotel faster and at cheaper price. We were charge 6E more. Example three, going from hotel to the port, we got min van taxi and we had party of 7, meter came out to 20E but charged us for extra passenger and bags...total 60E!!!

But we did have some really cool drivers!

  5. Thank you for sharing. I ask because they are clear on not going inside of the Colosseum, so was curious about other sites as well. We took a golf cart tour in another country and it was fun!

We just did a golf cart tour of Rome with http://www.golf-cart-tour-rome.com/ and everybody in my party of 9 moved the tour. Worth every $$$ and Roberto knows lot about the history of Rome and he showed us places that tour bus or cars can go!!!! He had us stop across from Colosseum and gives time to meet back. We had limo cart and regular cart. Price also included the private tour guide for Vatican.

  6. Like Eurocruiser said, best to catch the special express train( goes direct to the Roma S. Pietro station) that leave Civitavecchia station around 8:45am and arrives at Roma S. Pietro station ( closest station to Vatican) around 9:30am. R/T ticket cost about 20 Euros for adult and we did the return train at 4:25pm and arrived at Civitaecchia station around 5:15pm. Recommend you walk to the shuttle drop off location. Shuttle bus back was very crowded and long lines. Last shuttle back to ship is 6pm.

Loved the reserved express train, especially after long day in Rome. You will get a nice comfortable seat!!!

  7. We did the golf cart tour of Rome with http://www.golf-cart-tour-rome.com/ and it was worth every $$$. We saw more places than regular bus tours or car tours because Roberto was able to drive through small streets and gave us lot of history.... Party of 10 cost us 650 Euros included the guide for Vatican. I think you need 2 days to see Rome. He does party of 4 for 450 Euros for 7 hrs.

Highly recommend this tour, especially when Rome is very hot and you don't have walk a lot!!!!

  8. This page claims that there is a free shuttle bus every 15 minutes from the port (Via Isonzo) to the railway station

    http://www.civitavecchia.co.uk/civitavecchiatrainbustickets.html

Anyone know if this is running from the temporary drop off point, or the normal one?

They charge you .80 euros from the temporary drop off to train station and if you have more than one ship at the port, the shuttle bus line gets busy. We just walked to the station (20 min walk).

I think the shuttles run every 15/20 mins.

  9. I used the Travel Guard by Costco and they were awesome in helping us track our missing luggage that did not cone on the same British Airway flight. I could not get threw CSR with British Airway and Travel Guard started to contact them and follow up with me each day on status and updates. It took BA two days to get our luggage. Thank God we had extra days before our cruise in Barcelona.

  10. For our first sailing with NCL in January.. Have been on two previous cruises, Princess and Celebrity. Looking forward to this one! Ship looks amazing!

Will be travelling with a 4 year old and have booked the balcony guarantee room.

Any advise/tips on this cruise with a child in tow (kids programs/shows, things that are unique, would be much appreciated! :)

Just got back from Barcelona cruise on EPIC. The ship is big and I think we had a full ship. Our 4yr old daughter loved Splash (kids program) and our room was on the 14th flr and made it easy for us. Recommend the Garden Cafe for buffet and Taste on 5th flr for casual sit down dinner. Splash counselors are awesome!!! FYI: the pool area was really crowd!!!

    Enjoy the ship!

  11. The schedule for the cruise train has not been posted yet, if you want to be on the e-mail list when they release the schedule you can sign up here: http://www.smartcruisetours.com/index.php/visiting-rome/excursions-by-train

However, the cruise train will not get you to the Roma S. Pietro station by 9:30 even if it is running on that day. The schedule is set to depart late enough for the port arrival of last cruise ship of the day.

July 2nd is a weekday so yes, the morning trains will be crowded with regular commuters in addition to cruise passengers.

Arrival at the Roma S. Pietro station by 9:30 means getting on either the 7:58 or the 8:44 trains from Civitavecchia. If your ship arrives at 7 and disembarks immediately and efficiently that should be easy.

As for the return, unless you share with us your departure time it's impossible to help you.

Euro Cruiser thanks for the info.

I noticed that you can only reserve a ticket 7 days before the date of travel. If we take a train between 4-4:30pm back to port, should be enough time for departure at 6pm?

  12. Does anyone know if they will have the special express train ro Rome on July 2nd?

Should I purchase the tickets online? If online, how soon can I purchase the tickets?

If no special train, are the regular trains in the morning crowded(7:50am)? We need to get to San Pietro Station by 9:30am and what is the last train back to the port before the ship(Epic) departs?

    Thxs
