  1. oops, yes just discovered them, printing now. As we are flying from UK the day before I won't attach luggage labels until morning of our cruise. Don't want to have to bring stapler so reckon I'll laminate them first - or any other suggestion?

I use clear packing tape over the tags, much easier than laminating them, then staple them.

  2. This morning me and my elderly mother got off the Gem. We were next in line to present our passports and declaration form, when we were approached my another agent who asked to see our passports and forms. He asked if we were carrying any fruits or other food items from the ship. We told him no, as we weren't and he said after we presented our passports to the desk agent, we were to follow him into the examination room for further inspection. As we followed him, he asked us two more times, if we had any food items in our bags and we told him, absolutely not. Our bags were put through the scanner and when the agent didn't find anything, we were told we were free to go.

It really upset my mother, but I'm just wondering if this is something they see elderly people doing?

  3. We cruised out of Baltimore in January 2010 on the Pride. The day we left, it was frigid cold. The weather stayed cool all the way to Port Canaveral. When we docked it was about 37 degrees and warmed up to mid 60's.

When we got to Nassau, it was mid 70's. Not warm enough for me to swim, so we just did some shopping.

At Freeport, it was drizzling lightly, so we only walked around a bit and got back on the ship.

On the way back to Baltimore, the water was so calm that the captain remarked that it was one of the smoothest sailings he ever experienced.

As someone else mentioned, there's always a lot to do on the ship, plus it was inexpensive.

We are sailing on the Carnival Splendor in January and we're expecting a similar experience. We're looking forward to it.

We love be able to drive to the cruise terminal and not having to worry about what to bring.

Plus, at the Port of Baltimore, it was so easy getting on and off. I don't know if they still do it this way, but when we drove in, they took our bags right out of the car and then we found our parking spot.

  4. Deck - 7

    Cabin # - 7201

    Class – Promenade

Midship Port side, not a connecting cabin.

    Bed near? – Window

Window view- Overlooked the Royal Promenade

Any specific problems with this cabin?

Most of the promenade cabins on the port side are directly under the Park Cafe in Central Park. We were constantly being disturbed by what sounded like furniture being dragged across the floor overhead. The noise began approximately 6 AM and went on throughout the day up to 9 PM. After being awakened again on the morning of Day 3 we called Guest Services and asked what was over us and that's when we found out it was the Park Cafe. The sound was most likely chairs being dragged across the floor. It opens at 7:30 AM and closes at 6:00 PM. Since we don't spend much time in the cabin, we weren't too concerned about the noise throughout the day. We are usually up by 7:30 anyway, but who wants to get up at 6:00 when you're on vacation. Guest Services said they would call the restaurant and ask them to lift the chairs and not drag them and it did help somewhat.

    Any other comments?

We have stayed in Promenade cabins before on the Voyager and Explorer and really like them. The cabin on the Oasis seemed bigger and had lots of storage. My DH had to use an electric scooter and it fit perfectly at the end of the sofa alongside the closet.

  5. Dear Shari:

I want to congratulate you on your marriage and tell you that you are so kind to help other future cruising brides! I know they all must have so many questions and hearing from someone who has already been through it, really helps put them at ease.

And, I want to wish all the brides-to-be, lots of luck with their planning. I am sure everyone will have a beautiful wedding.

With that said, my daughter is also a future cruising bride since she has decided she wants to have her wedding onboard the Crown Princess, August 10, 2007. She will have her ceremony onboard before the ship leaves port (Brooklyn, NY), since not everyone will be able to go on the cruise.

kadiebug12's wedding cruise review was a great help, (thanks kadie) but it always helps to hear other people's experiences, also.

So, Shari, if you don't mind, could you please forward any information you think may help her, particularly upgrades and actually planning her reception after the ceremony. Please send to: mariec12@aol.com

Also, does anyone know if you can have your own priest come onboard to do the wedding vows.

    Thanks so much,

    Marie
