  1. I booked a cruise for Norwegian this past September, they waited til day before to cancel due to hurricanes. They gave me a nice future cruise credit, and told me to feel free to book with whomever I want, and use the credit accordingly. I paid deposit for a cruise next year that included a great onboard credit. Not Norwegian just.called and said if i use Future cruise credit, then the are reducing On Board credit. Thats not cool at all to tell me that after I book!!!!! Bait and switch..

Nowhere does this say that a TA was used. I would be ticked off too. Things like this, I'm taking notes with names, dates, times and everything, repeat repeat. Hopefully though, the original conversation recorded or put in writing. If not, good luck on proving it.

  2. And then there are those (not necessarily referring to the OP), who would turn right around and say that they had gone to the ship's medical center and were told it was just a little cold. These are the people that think that if they don't get the full and complete workup that the medical staff was incompetent and they just know they were simply DYING from the latest strain of whatever disease going around. Basically sometimes it's a matter of "CYA". Again, not saying that's what happened here with the OP.

  3. They do have a bread pudding in the MDR, but it has a caramel sauce, not ganache. You may like it, or it may offend you in its un-bitter difference; I don't know.

The creme brulee is pretty good; it's served at some of the specialties.

Thank you for your reply. Really I hope I didn't offend anyone. I didn't mean to come off as snobby. It was meant to come off as humor, so if it fell flat as a fritter, I'm sorry---:o

  4. Good Evening fellow Cruise Critic posters. My name is Kitty and I am a BitterandBlanc-aholic. I have been a BBA since my 1st cruise in 2009 when I was served that warm sweet rich concoction of pure utter deliciousness for dessert the first time. My DH didn't like his and I finished it too. I've only been on three other cruises since then, but I have made it my mission to get my mouth on that heavenly bread pudding as much as possible. I will skip the appetizer and bread course just to be able to get an extra to take back to the cabin for later on. Fortunately, I have not gone so far as to have my DH order two and spirit those off to the room as well (apparently, I have some dignity left). Now I do realize that this is the NCL board and the heavenly dessert of which I speak is served on another cruise line which begins with "C" and ends with "L". We all have our crosses to bear. I am not bitter--segue coming--, however, I will be blanc, as my palate will know next October that it's on a cruise ship and will be expecting, well, you know. So, kind NCL Cruise Criticers, do tell, what is if anything the closest thing, to well, you know. Thank you so much. Sitting down now. Please return to whatever you were doing before you were doing this.:D:D

  5. Hmmm...I wonder...I have the UBP. If I were go to the bar and ask for the Irish coffee and tell them hold the whiskey....then maybe at least I could get a better tasting cup of coffee than from the buffet of dining room. My thinking here is that they have to have fresh coffee on hand. Or, it could totally backfire and a) they would ever so politely tell me where to go with my request, or b) they also get the coffee from the buffet or the dining room for the Irish coffee.:confused::confused:

(Better yet have a coffee card option available!!!)

  6. Not sure what ship this was on, but a funny 'communication malfunction' happened after dinner one evening. Our waiter, it seems, had a bit of a problem pronouncing certain words in the English language. After dinner, he came by and said to us, "Shark Minnow?"

DH and I looked at each other, rather befuddled. DH said to the waiter, "I'm sorry, what did you say?"

The waiter smiled and repeated, "Shark Minnow?" Again, we were very confused and began to giggle. I said to the waiter, "Did you just say Shark Minnow?"

He said, "Yes, Shark Minnow?" as he was handing me the dessert menu.

"Ohhhhh," we replied, trying not to laugh hysterically. "You mean Dessert Menu?"

    "Yes," he replied. "Shark Minnow!"

To this day, whenever we are cruising, we frequently will ask each other after dinner if we think we might want something from the Shark Minnow!

Reminded me of the time my DH and I were eating prime rib and we both thought we heard the waiter ask if we would like some "Hot Mayonnaise"? Okaaay..Sure....Pile it on. Big bite...cough, spit sputter. Nope, not "Hot Mayonnaise". It was Horseradish:o:o:o:o:o:o!!!!!!!!!!!!

  7. Glad to know I'm not the only OCD super pre-planner here!! We'll be coming off that cruise as you will be getting on. We are also planning to go down to DC for 3-4 days following and trying to decide best transport. One way Amtrak not bad. DH needs cane sometimes so, we priced with companion fare..but then there's the issue with the luggage. But hey, got plenty of time to figure that part out. Will be keeping eye on this thread and note paper handy. This will be our 1st NCL adventure after 4 Carnival cruises (no flaming please-it is what it is), so we're gonna be like newbies all over again.

  8. 4th day into 7 day Western Carib. on Magic out of Galveston, DH realizes he has forgotten to bring his oral diabetic med.:confused: Oh and we had left house 3 days prior to cruise, so now we're talking going without for a week!! Again :confused:

We trudge down to Medical. He takes a combo med. and they had one of the combo. Close enough we'll take it. Seriously, though, how does one forget that they haven't had the med for a week????:rolleyes:
