  1. So, I'm used to the "If you miss the boat you can meet at the first port (provided it's not a domestic port etc)" but apparently things have changed since Covid?  My brother is supposed to be with a whole group of us on a cruise - and unfortunately his flight was delayed.  We are leaving on the Panorama today out of Long Beach.  Our first port is Tuesday in Puerto Vallarta, and he was going to fly down there and meet us.  They are saying "because of Covid" he can't fly to PV and meet the ship.  However, he is vaccinated like the rest of us, and was planning on going for another Covid test on Monday so he had a test right before he boards.  But because of Covid they're saying it's not allowed.  What changes because of Covid?  The logic just doesn't make sense.  I'm going to go down to guest services and try to talk to them in person (this came from customer service - but they said the ship provided them this info) but it just doesn't make logical sense to me.   Just wondering if anyone has done this since Covid?

  2. As long as one member of the direct family is in a stateroom, those pictures can be included in the package. For example, my 6 year old daughter is staying in our friend’s stateroom, so all the pics from that room are also included in the package because she is our direct family member. We have done it this way for years. It’s a shame you don’t get the printed pictures anymore though

  3. I was under the impression that as long as taxes and port fees were paid that everyone got points for sailing under the kids sail free promo. The VERY first time they rolled it out back in 2014, we sailed in a RFS and my husband and I got points, but they refuse to give the kids the 18 points for the sailing because they were free.

    Is this accurate?

  4. Today, while waiting in line at guest services due to computer issues on Anthem (waiting to disembark) a gentleman came through the line and tried to cut in front of everyone else. Being the line was down the Esplanade people were obviously freaking out. They originally asked him to wait in line with all the other guests, but he said he was an important person and would call "53" and they would come assist him right that second. Sure enough the pulled him and his party out of line immediately and attended to his needs.

I'm just wondering, what makes you that special and who was he calling? LOL

  5. So, here's the situation I'm in....

I have made final payment on our 3 night Anthem sampler. Of course, prices have dropped for the cruise and they're offering $250 of OBC for rooms. I am currently booked into a D1, which is the ONE category that isn't cheaper lol. All the other balconies are cheaper than what I paid.

My question is this - can I downgrade to a D2, JUST to get the OBC? I don't want ANY refund, RCL can keep the monies I paid, but hey getting $250 in OBC would definitely be nice.

OR could we split into two staterooms and use the money paid and pay the extra $200 that two staterooms would cost so we have more room?

    Thoughts?

  6. So, some of you may have read my other thread that NCL accidentally cancelled my reservation last night - and I was left without a cabin. All that was left was suites (I booked an inside), so basically they didn't know what they were going to do.

I talked to the supervisor's supervisor and she worked with Revenue to come to this solution....

We have two cabins, an inside on deck 5 and the (cancelled) I2 on deck 10. I actually had to move out of the cabin on deck 5 because we had a 20 year old family friend coming with and she couldn't be in her own cabin. That's how I ended up flying solo. Because it was within 30 days I also gave up my beverage package by moving out....which was okay because I'm not a real drinker.

But, they offered us two side by side insides (4517 and 4519) so we'll be together. Because of this I can actually put the 20 year old in her own cabin like she should have been, and go back in the other room with the other adult and get my UBP back. Also, they gave me $100 OBC for the inconvenience of everything.

So, it all worked out in the end I guess. I'm satisfied with the resolution.

My last question is this - if the OBC gets applied to the "solo" cabin (now the 20 year old) will she be able to transfer the OBC to me once we board?

  7. Well, you tried to pay to upgrade to an I2 but once the agent cancelled your IX and then tried to book the I2 it was already gone. While rare, this does happen. It's not a screw up its the nature of the game. You are just lucky they were able to put you back in a IX.

Actually, the I2 wasn't gone, but since money was moving from one booking to another they both cancelled overnight for each having partial payments. She didn't cancel my IX for just that reason. There were notes all over both bookings that said "Do not cancel" but of course the computer doesn't work like that.

  8. What ship? If there is still an inside guarantee then just go back to that.

No, the only cabins left open are suites. It's for the Spirit. They put me back in an IX for now, but I paid to upgraded to an I2 for a reason (bigger cabin/mobility issues). Now literally I could be anywhere on the ship again because of this screwup.

  9. Okay, so here the story:

I booked an IX inside guarantee cabin. I decided to upgrade it to an I2. The procedure was not done correctly, and now my reservation was cancelled. I'm being told that there "is only suites left open" and basically too bad so sad. They can put me back in an IX (if I'm lucky) but can't guarantee where it'll be on the ship again. Should I keep pressing this issue? Talk to someone else? I'm so upset this happened!

  10. For those who are familiar with how the process works.....

I booked an inside guarantee, because we have another room on the ship and literally only one person is booked in this room. So we'll just use whichever room ends up being better.

There is 4 midship insides left for the sailing, and 3 family insides (including one on deck 10 near the kids area). There are MANY ocean view and balcony rooms open yet.

Do I pull the trigger and pay the $60 to upgrade to a family inside or let it play out and see where we get assigned? Apparently there is 20 or so IX rooms to be assigned, and only 7 insides open. Will there be a chance we get upgraded to an ocean view? We sail in 20 days and still no cabin assignment.

    Opinions, please :)
