  1. I was on the May 03-May 13th 2022 cruise on Regatta.  My girlfriend and I wore masks consistently except while eating which I admit was frequent.  The afternoon we returned home I developed a sore throat and felt achy. I tested that evening and was negative. By Sunday I had a cough and still did not feel well. I tested again and it was positive. Luckily my girlfriend continued to test negative. We did not attend any of the entertainment. We did play bingo and visited the casino- always wearing a mask.  The staff always wore masks along with the vendors in the port.
The cruise was wonderful and I’m glad we went.  Luckily I have fully recovered and am already planning for the next cruise!

“Separate question, but is the door sill to the shower about 3.5" high? That's what I've scaled off some pictures using a toilet paper roll for a 4.5" reference. I could wheelie over that in my everyday chair, but my shower chair will require significant participation of my wife. I've mocked a sill model using wooden blocks that we'll test out this evening.”

My girlfriend and I were booked in an Oceania suite in 2016-  this is the only picture I had of the shower which surprised me because I took pictures of everything!  The balcony is much smaller than the Vista suite and is somewhat crowded with furniture- they could easily remove a chair or lounger.  As others have said the Oceania suite balcony is much more usable.  We did a Transatlantic in the Vista- it was so windy my slippers flew off while I was walking!  The side balcony is very nice- protected from the wind.  I hope it all works out for you and you love it!
We are sailing on Regatta in May to Mexico in a Vista suite- I’m also concerned about the view.  Hoping it’s worth it!

  3. Agree with the NOT IMPRESSED. Was on the phone with my TA this afternoon. We were able to get the cabin and the itinerary (Australia Circumnavigation).

However not impressed on how they notified people and what they offered. They offered no compensation unless you accepted same/similar (their choice) itinerary. So for me because I am restricted to going in January -- nothing. I would have had to accept a November sailing instead of January.

Bad form Oceania. Loyalty is double edged.

The reason I am sticking with O for this next holiday is the itinerary. However as you stated next time "will try to find something on another cruiseline."

I agree with both of you! Sending an email and mentioning "enhancements" with the next line reading "Your cruise has been cancelled!" And what is the compensation for cancelling? Very disappointed- I think it is poor customer service and handled poorly. This booking was number 10 on Oceania- I think I'm done too!

  4. So sad to hear this news! I too feel like I lost a friend although Don and I never met. His willingness to share his knowledge and experiences with others on these boards made him someone to look up to; someone to count on. My prayers and sympathy to Betsy and family.

  5. I have flown out of Rio 3 times- I would recommend getting a lounge pass- it made a world of difference. The first experience was a real nightmare- 3 hours of endless lines before getting through security. No air conditioning in the airport. We were all sweating and swelling. The employees said the air works sometimes but usually not when it is hot:eek:!

The lounge pass - we flew American- gave us a green light through the mass of people. We actually were in the lounge (very crowded but cool) in less than 45 minutes- we had arrived 5 hours early and they delayed the flight an hour. I can't imagine how it will be for the Olympics!

    Good luck!

  6. My girlfriend and I were in suite 12000 for a transatlantic, Rome to Rio, in 2012. The suite is stunning- the pictures don't prepare you for the grandeur of the suite. We felt like we were walking into a New York Park Avenue Apartment! Until you walk out on the balcony and view your beautiful ocean you forget you are on a ship! The location on the ship is perfect- quiet and secluded. The only issue was the wind. The Oceania Suite balcony is very usable but with the Vista the furniture has to be tied down and released by your cabin stewards. It was very windy most of the cruise but a few days in port we were able to have lunch out on the balcony- that was really special. We had 3 cabin stewards and 1 butler- the service was beyond excellent. You are going to have a magnificent time!

  7. We were lucky to have a Vista Suite- deck 12 on our last Transatlantic and it was beyond fantastic! The verandah is huge and includes a side balcony with 2 chairs- this area was always usable as it was protected from the wind. The table and chairs are tied down and are "released" upon request. All of the deck furniture is secured at night. It is quite windy but the views are breathtakingly beautiful!

The exercise room held the cushions for the outdoor furniture at night- otherwise we did not use the room.

The service was impeccable . It was a truly amazing experience. Our next cruise in May is booked in an Oceania Suite so I will be able to compare. I'm sure you will have a wonderful experience! Cathy

  8. Cathy -

If you're going to be in Brazil for 4 days ... we had a wonderful driver/guide that I'm sure you would be happy with. He's been in the business for years ... has a new(er), air-conditioned mini-van ... speaks excellent English and is very personable and knowledgeable. If you'd like more info, I can't post it here (rules you know) but I'd be happy to email it to you. We'll be using him again in April when we're back in Rio.

Thank you so much. You can email me at cathyee_98 at yahoo.com

I really appreciate the info. I want to make the most of my time there. Thanks again. Cathy

  9. I am sailing on a Transatlantic cruise in November-only one shore excursion is showing up on the website. When I called Oceania to inquire the person I spoke with told me there were no shore excursions because it is a TA cruise. I asked her about the 4 days in Brazil but she said she didn't think TA cruises had shore excursion:eek:. I also tried emailing and the response was to check about a month before sailing-no info available. Hopefully the shore excursions will appear before we sail.
