  1. I've used them for deep sea fishing for day trips. I would not use them for a cruise because of the possible side effects. Once after fishing, I removed the patch and didn't wash my hands because we were at the dock, I rubbed my eye and it dilated and made my vision blurry. I called the advise nurse then read the precautions on the information sheet. Try using the ginger chews available at world market (Cost Plus) there are several kinds, I use the tapioca base not the potato based.

  2. Years ago we were went to a small office inside the Empress near the tea room, there was a small tour shop there, we got a fantastic tour that went everywhere, even out to the gardens, and west to a small fishing village. it was like $80 pp but picked us up at our motel, included lunch at a golf course, tea at the gardens, and all around the city and back to our hotel, an all day trip! It was well worth it! That was quite a few years ago, and I bet the price is higher, but a full day tour with only a few passengers in a van was awesome!

We heard about it from one of the sales pitches on the sidewalk!

  3. My son and his friend won this cruise around 1984 or 85! They were 15 years old and were so excited.

The other boys mother and I shared one cabin and the two boys shared another cabin on a different deck. Only rules we set for them was they were to eat meals with us! And had to meet us in port every two hours and before dark!

We remember taking them to one of the local bars to get soda's so they could tell their friends they went there.

But the ship's service we enjoyed so much! The room stewards cleaned up the rooms about 4 times a day. The kids said they went to the ship to drop off their "goodies" from port and grab lunch before heading back out for more fun! When they came back, everything in the room was picked up again, all "stuff" folded and stacked, even the coins were stacked on the table all in order. They couldn't figure it out, so we told them the stewards have hidden cameras and know when the room needs straightening out! What fun memories.

That was my first cruise, second was with my DH on the "Big Red Boat", we've been crusing ever sence!

The next year the two boys won again, but that time is was an all enclusive resort in Mexico...they chose my brother-in-law and his friend to chaprone them that time....we never did hear all the stories on that trip....

  4. We are four adults traveling with a great 11 year old kid. Her absolute favorite dessert is creme brulee. In perusing the menus on this board I did not see it on any menu except the Pinnacle Grill. Depending on the Club HAL situation she may pass on the Pinnacle Grill night...too much food and wine discussion. Does anyone know if this is served in another restaurant or can it be ordered from room service? I am attemping to keep my "favorite aunt" status.:)

Don't worry, just talked to the head Waiter or his boss! One 36 night cruise my DH asked about pickled herring, and low and behold, he was served a plate full EVERY night!!! Yes 36 nights of pickled herring as his starter :D

Usually the will try to please you and your grandchild.

  5. Once we got dinner as a TA gift, once a lunch as a TA gift and once a comp Asian lunch on one of the ships that had an Asian restrauant on the top deck. I love the Itialan restrauant, even though they started charging, with the perks of 3 stars, there is a small discount. It's just nice place to enjoy different food and service.

FYI: We never eat in the LIDO, unless its to make a fruit dish or salad if we miss the dining room lunch service do to being busy in port.

  6. This was the last port after a 36 night cruise! We met lots of people on the cruise thru CC board and there was a group of 12 of us that booked the private cabana for the day! Best thing I've ever booked thru a cruise ship shore ex office! And best $100 I ever spent!

Our cabana came with a porter to help carry your bags, a private cook, a private bartender (all drinks incluede) Breakfast, lunch and snacks! Hot tub, a waterslide into the sea, a shower when you climb out! It was fantastic!
