  1. Never cruised MSC but looking at the Magnifica. How does it compare to a RC cruise?

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

There is no comparison really. They are completely different and each have their own positives and negatives. If you prefer the americsn style of cruising then royal is for you. If you are a bit open minded and easy going you should give MSC a try. I personally prefer MSC especially it's yahcht club. But I live in Italy so I'm accustomed to European life. If you are interested in other cultures and hearing other languages often and learning other cultural norms then you will enjoy MSC.

The food is very different, the decor is more our taste as well.

If you like more attention given to you and more American style service and food then royal is best at that. I found rotalmore fun and MSC more elegant.

So it depends on your style.

  2. Yes of course

When your bill is added it has everything you've spent as well as your gratuities in the bill. Then it will be added any once or moneies that you have prepaid. Then your balance will be shown. So it's sort of automatico in a scense.

  3. The All inclusive Drinks package will be available to use throughout the ship :-which is a big positive.

dining room in the YC:- a positive

with 26 (95 Instead of 69) more cabins meaning an extra 50 - 60 guests, approx 40% increase but it doesn't look as though they have increased the square footage of the public areas , other than adding the restaurant, so it'll feel more crowded:- a minus point.

Cirque de Solieu doesn't start till August:- a minus point, if you go on her before then

Still I've booked in the YC for next Sept.

Oh this is definantly great news about the drinks..no more need to return from the casino upstairs for a drink every so often...thankfully it was always on the same side of the ship as YC. Very good about the resturant and well Ive booked for October so will be a plus to see the Cirque. I really hope its not so crowed. I do love the tranquil feeling...and also worried about if the quality will be deminished because of this.

I also read about electric wristbands..so no need for the onboard card???

  4. Im sure this has been discussed before but Ive been away from CC for awhile...

Im a big lover of Yacht Club and very well accustomed to how it works and its layout, especially after my last 16 day cruise in Yacht club which is the longest Ive ever spent in Yacht club..I didn't want to leave:D:D

Anyway Ive just booked the new Meraviglia..sailing out of our home port (Genova). Id like to know if anyone has any information about the details of the yacht club for this new ship. Any major changes made? From what I can see is that the area in general will be larger to accommodate for more guest ..unfortunately I prefer it being a small amount of guest..but hey..we cant have it all:D:D

I also of course noticed to various rooms that were available..which didn't excite me at all so I booked my usual balcony suite. However generally I am specific with my room numbers being that I prefer the wider rooms ..and usually choose the 1530 ecc room. But not sure if this new ship will offer those type of rooms as well for the same price or not..any idea. Since I am not well informed on the layout I just tried to book as usual.

Also I wondered if they managed to put the YC restaurant closer to yacht club or will it still be a windy trek across the deck? :p

Any idea of other changes positive or negative...I'm very curious.

  5. The dinning is at 7pm but you would need to have your daughter at the meeting point by 6 30. however my daughter was often late and we would take her to the dinning hall and they would sign her in there. They take the sign in and sign out books with them everywhere they go with the children. I daughter prefered eating with the kids club most times ..also because they would go to the show directly after. We generally ate later since it is normal for our culture to eat at 9 and then a late show. Its great that my daugther could just remain with them until later that evening if she wanted. However I will say on our last cruise she did eat with us most nights..not sure why.

  6. I would agree that the children in YC are a bit more well behaved then outside of YC. We travel with my now 4.5 year old daughter which was one of the youngest...only a few others her age. Also as well as the adults...not to sound bad but it is sort of a different class of there ..wheaher the people are or either they are just on their best behavour while pretending. But I know we never had an issue in YC like we have had outside of YC on other ships.

  7. Probably just a typo. tee yes, most Italian nouns end in a vowel (helps determine whether masculine or feminine and singular or plural). Bathtub in Italian is vasca.

I head a bath a few times on MSC suites. They are longer than a hip bath but not quite as long as a standard bath in the UK.

Im an Italian and English speaker..here in Italy most people know the word tub as well as bath. Even if they dont speak Italian. I would say its a typo. The MSC company has very exspansive translation ..even monther tounge person who translate sometimes..however Ive also seen a few very minor gramatical mistakes when traveling on MSC in the leaflets ects however not many typos..now we just keep it in Italiano.

  8. My cruise for next week always said tunisia..but when I got my papers I saw the ports had changed and instead we are going to Malta..so maybe they are just seeing if things change and then if not will change the port..still a long time away.. ?? I dont know.

  9. I live in Italy but still curious how was the weather last week traveling around Spain, Malta, Napoli, and France. The weather this year has been so up and down but mostly warm here in Italy but as of last week it has cooled down quite a bit..so now I am rethinking my entire packing ideas of wardrobe..anyone with tips or comments who have recently returned. :o

I will say last year we went to the other side of the Mediterranean (greets, turkey, Croatia) and it was quite chilly on the ship ..especially after the sunset.

  10. Just thought Id ask if anyone else will be traveling firstly on the Fantasia during the next week.and also anyone in the Yacht club during that time too...not many people post in the roll calls for MSC so thought Id check here...Cruising is always more fun with new friends!! :D:D:cool:

  11. oh I forgot to mention I will be on the fantasia as well when you board in Barcelona..we will board closer to our home near Genova..but will be on for 3 days that you are as well..just incase youd like to have a drink together with kids..

  12. You will be perfectly fine. Here in Italy that is how we dress for dinner.. dark jeans..nice shoes and a jacket will make it even better. Some dont even bother..dont forget to bring somethin for white night and italian themed night...

My daughter is 4 and always have dinner with the kids club...she is never bored there.

  13. almost time for my cruise..and hubby still has no idea...but Ive come back to this post because now nowegian cruiser Im calling on you for tips on our next cruise....Im thinking to book while we are on board for savings...and guess what ..we are wanting a fjords cruise..or something in that area ..interest..ect..moment sure what MSC has for offer on that..but something about fjords or northern lights excite me...what are your tips?
