  1. Booked an outside oceanview cabin for the Eclipse Dublin -Iceland May 10 cruise last May while on the Connie--last week switched to an unobstructed balcony for $1000 less-- As we get closer to final payment date maybe Celebrity will offer a suite cabin for thousands less than a balcony--I can only hope

  2. my wife and I usually spend one or two days pre cruise or post cruise at say the embarkation city such as Venice--Sydney and Vancouver.A few years agoI called Celeb and spoke to insurance people in Long Island NY and was informed then that I was covered for medical emergency for a week on both sides of the cruise--Big change--now the policy is administered by AON and their reps state that celeb ins is only for the cruise--coverage starts the day of the cruise and ends the last day of the cruise--I told them that I had planned to spend a day before and after the cruise in Dublin--I was told that I would not be covered for a medical emergency on those days and that I should buy third party insurance--Rather than chance an uninsured slip and fall I will look for other medical insurance

  3. Sabbath and E rev Yom Kippur services went well--The Rabbi announced that we would meet the next morning at 10AM for Yom Kippur service-which do to allotted time constraints would include Yizkor Services were over at 11:15--was my fast over?? I broke my fast at the Elite cocktail hour.

Icalled customer service from Boston --Would forward experience to proper personnel--called again from home --nothing All I asked for was a letter or telephone conversation with some one who could insure that my experience would not happen again.

How should I proceed--Should forget it The ship inflicted unnecessary pain --

maybe I should ask for a free cruise good only for Jewish High Holidays sailing

    Thanks for any advice

  4. The Rabbi conducted the morning service using material prepared by some rabbis and given to him by the ship -He thought that it was excellent but too long considering that we had to be out of the lounge by 9am--they had to set up for some party that was coming in at 9:30He had to skip and shorten the service He kept on looking at his watch and apologizing--Did you guess what group was having the party --my invitation was in my pocket --the rabbi announced the time and place for Sabbath services and at 9am we left. I did not feel that I would be good company and did not attend the 9:30 cruise critic party .

Time and place for Jewish services never appeared in the daily Summit Today .It was posted on the community board located in the lobby --beneath Mah Jong and above bridge

  5. After lunch we went to our cabin to unpack--The telephone rang--The Rabbi was told that I was upset . He told me that he was hired to conduct the evening service but the ship would not accommodate him-He did not understand why-a service was scheduled for the next morning 8 am in the revelation lounge-

I found my invitation to the Cruise Critic meet and greet party and my Elite perks letter from the Captains club. I was invited to meet the ships officers on the eve of Yom Kippur Later changed

  6. My wife and I are Jewish and booked a Summit Canada /New England cruise sailing on Oct.2 realizing that it would encompass the Jewish High Holidays--The brochure stated that (and confirmed by Captains club reps )a Jewish Rabbi would be on board--We thought that that meant that services would be conducted---WRONG--At 12:30 we were on the Summit and asked guest services about the time and place for the evening Rosh Hashanah services --The daily summit did not mention any service --it did list a time and places for the friends of BillW and the LGBT to meet. I was told that services were scheduled for the next morning--and that the Rabbi was on board. I spoke with( I believe was the activity director )a person who told me that we never hold services on the day of embarkation( apparently in the past a ship sail was delayed because a rabbi was late) and could not accommodate my request. The head of guest services told me the same story. I was upset --angry and livid--what a way to start a lovely cruise . We could have booked the previous cruise.--to be cont.

  7. I am trying to review a cruise --if I post a thread --not enough space--went to write a review and after typing more that 277 words the page froze--I want to tell cruise critic members about an unpleasant experience on an otherwise excellent cruise--please advise--Thanks

  8. I believe that the line has a moral duty or a pr duty to inform all of its passengers that a large group will be sailing with them--many years ago I booked a bicycle tour --Prior to my booking airline tickets I received a call from the mangement informing me that the tour was filled with a group from the state of Conn.and offered me the choice of a complete refund or a different week. After discussion they started a new tour at the same time which filled up --the two would meet periodically ---Had I been with the Conn. group I would have left the tour and flown home--Even the management thought that the Conn. group were rude etc

  9. Hi all--Just got off the Millie from Vancouver to Seward---This is not a review --just want to tell what I observed as an evening dress code---- for gentlemen--smart casual--from jeans and a tee shirt to a sport jacket--teen age boys wore shorts as did many women--formal night--teen age boys wore jeans and tee shirts--men wore jeans and tee shirts and slacks and sport coats and maybe two or three in tuxedos and or suits-many women wore jeans and a nice top-all kind of shoes worn by men and women--at lunch in the lido buffet--women and men came in in bathrobes---this was Alaska--

  10. My 2cents. Check airfare and ease. Of travel. Vancouver roundrtrrip seems to be easier than flying to anchorage. Millie has more interesting itinerary. Read that train from Seward to anchorage is not to be missed. We are booked on Millie this Aug. Will post review

  11. I have had the unfortunate experience to dine with a friend who was not a vegan or a kosher foodie or a vegatarian--not even a raw foodie --the meal was pure hell --after telling the waiter what had to be eliminated from the selected dish-and what had to be substituted etc. etc. I decided never again--However I feel so sorry for the passenger that must always say that their personal food choicesare suchit has to be their way or the highway ---I can not get my meat cooked medium rare --I only eat grade A5 Kobe beef--can get it in town for $30 an ounce

  12. Call celebrity--A few years ago my spouse and I brought our Bike Fridays aboard the Connie for our first cruise--rode thru all the scandinavian ports--must store the bicycles in your cabin or on the balcony--many do so and enjoy their cruise--we waited untill most of the passengers disembarked before visiting a port--met another couple with their Bike Fridays--we rode together--just call celeb

  13. On our next cruise my spouse and I will have elite status--I can not find a menu stating what food is offered at the elite breakfast--could you please tell me if eggs oatmeal etc. is offered or is it iust coffee fruit etc.--is it a buffet or sit down and waiter service---thanks

  14. A few years ago we were upgraded from an oceanview to a concierge (after final payment) free of charge--At about 4am I was awakened a clicking noise--after 3 nights I asked if guest relations knew what it was--they were concerned and called to find out if I still heard it--answer yes--I believed that it was a crew door closing--not slamming and told them that I would rate the cabin 99.999 instead of 100--I said no problem thanks for the concern--A few days lter they called to tell me that 2 passengers had an emergency and would be leaving the ship at Tenerife(it was a transatlantic)--After discussion we were moved to a lovely aft concierge --afew days later guest relations called and asked to see me at the front desk--They told me to look for a gift to be in the room that evening--they told me that the gift was for my trouble--I told them that I was happy in the new cabin everything was fine and I thanked them for the gift in advancebut --expecting a bottle of wine or flowers--to my surprise we were each given a future cruise certificate for $300

  15. Hi all--My spouse and I returned from a lovely transatlantic cruise on the Equinox--a classical string trio or quartet was missing--In the evening at various lounges trios and quartets would play jazz and pop music--while they were entertaining after a while they all sounded the same--guest relstions said that they thought that the lack of a chamber music trio was fleetwide {a pianist did play in the main theater]---Any thoughts???
