  1. Going next week and doing the water slides. I wear glasses and was wondering if there is a place to leave them before walking up the steps or should I get a strap so they stay on my head. Would really like to set them aside to enjoy the ride down better. And what about footwear. Don’t think I want to walk barefoot all the way there form our spot on beach but I know you can’t wear any on the ride.

  2. Do you tip in the specialty restaurants? Someone in our group got upgraded from mini suite to full suite and includes first night only free for any specialty restaurant. Regardless it being free or not I was wondering if tip is added on, or in the case of free, charged to account or you give cash?

  3. We decided to do ATV and zip line with a company that also does cave tubing. Cave-tubing.com. Will save the beaches for our other 2 stops.

  4. Just returned from Houston yesterday. I worked like clockwork. We walked off ship at 7:35 ( scheduled for 7:10). Customs was 5 minutes, as we were one of the first in line, there are 10 rows of custom agents. Our shuttle who we prearranged with Sherry from Travel Zone to take us to IAH was waiting for us right outside the doors, he was 1st in line. And we were at the airport by 9:00. The security line has 2 people in front of us and we were at the gate by 9:15.

Our flight started boarding on time at 10:00 and left as scheduled at 10:30.

There are many things that could have gone wrong. Fog for one, the ship not clearing customs on time, the shuttle bus not being there, security line at the airport; but with a little luck and careful planning it worked like a charm.

We booked the early flight because it was extremely discounted when we purchased.

Thanks for the input. Happy to hear everything went good for you guys. Still not reserving a shuttle in advance. We have 11 people and figure the price for a large van or 2 smaller ones to reserve would be the same price for 3 cabs to HOU.

  5. We were just looking to take a taxi to a beach to relax at, one with a bar if possible. Should we set something up with a tour company or just get a taxi at the dock.

Any suggestions? Not into snorkeling or diving.

  6. Thanks for all the info. Plan B would be getting the taxi. I hear they are lined up waiting.

We have some people for 11:30 flight and some just before noon all from HOU. Been checking cruise finder site and ship finder app last 4 Saturday mornings and looks like ship has been getting in ahead of schedule.

From what sueandkent is saying looks like we'll be getting a few cabs.

  7. I know we can't purchase transfers pre cruise due to our early flight. But people are saying they are getting transfers as early as 8:30 am to the airport (hou). Anyone have info on this. Can transfers be bought while on the ship. I would rather pay Princess $24pp than to get a cab.

  8. This may be a great advantage if going with a group of people. It can add up when you're next to buy a "round". Rounds can get quite expensive depending on how many you are hanging with at the time and what they drink. A round can be the price of one day alone. "My turn to buy, sorry, I can only buy one." And no one has to buy for you, you're unlimited.

  9. You can still get the xfers by calling your TA.

You can get them on the ship, but go to the tour desk early in the cruise to do so as they can sell out.

Was wondering this. We cant book transfers from ship in advance due to our flight from HOU is before 1:30, its at 11:30. Wondering if we can get an early xfer while on ship. I do here people getting them for as early as 8:30.

  10. Thanks for info, but little panicked! We are on the 3/29 sailing and are taking a gamble with a 9:55 a.m. flight out of Houston on the return with Southwest. Is that not an option at all??? Thanks!

How did it go with flight? We have Southwest flight ay 11:30

  11. We fly out this Saturday for our Navigator cruise leaving on Sunday. My group of 8 has a Super Shuttle for $37 RT per person from Hobby to our hotel in Galveston and then from the port to Hobby on return. You should check them out.

How was supper shuttle? I see they have bad reviews on trip advisor and yelp and most shuttle companies have bad reviews.

  12. Looking for the average time of disembarking Caribbean Princess and getting to Hobby? Last few weeks I see the ship on live cruise ship tracker site arriving at Bayport around 5am. I have 11:30 flight, only option where I am going. I know winter is a problem with fog but this will be in late April.

Thinking of reserving a shuttle, they all have bad reviews. Are there lots of taxis waiting as a backup plan if shuttle don't show?

  13. We just returned from the 1-18 Caribbean Princess cruise. We flew to Hobby on Southwest Air on Friday, the 17th. We took a cab to Comfort Suites in Bayport. They were great. Not only did they have a shuttle to the terminal on Saturday but they also had a Friday night shuttle to nearby restaurants.

On Saturday, fog did not interfere with embarkation. Embarkation was slightly delayed due to Norovirus on the previous cruise. The ship had to be super clean before we could enter.

We made all of the ports. We did not encounter rain while onshore.

On the final Saturday, fog did not interfere with debarkation. We took the Princess transfer back to the airport. We had a four hour wait for the plane, which arrived on time. We enjoyed a great lunch at the airport.

What time was your flight leaving and what time did you get off the ship, we have a 12pm flight out of Hobby in April.
