Hello, does anyone know if the Luggage Hotel in Princes Wharf is still operational? Their website has disappeared and I'm wondering if they're trading under a different name. We're looking to store luggage for a few months as we tour around. If any of the members of this group are locals then is there a storage facility somewhere other than the port that you can recommend? It would be for two large bike cases that we will leave there whilst we cycle around the north and south islands.
Many thanks, Daisy

It’s my understanding that if one or two of the Pullman berths are being used there is no option on the bed configuration. It has to be two singles.
Interesting, that may be Cunard's policy so the decision will be made for us.👍

In the unlikely event of a child falling from a bunk you would be safer in single bed formation as it would be difficult for them to fall on top of you. Having it as a double would break their fall but your injuries would probably be more serious than anything they would suffer.
Looking at layout I'd certainly put the ladder at foot of bed on side without the desk. It would be difficult having ladders facing both ways between the bunks. If space allows at desk side I'd put that one at foot as well. Most 10 year olds should be flexible enough to access from any direction.
We regularly host a family of 4 in a 10.26m2/110sq/ft room with bunks crossing the top of the double bed. The room layout was designed with them in mind. But they don't spend much time in the room other than for sleeping.
It will be a tight squeeze but all the more incentive to be out and around the ship enjoying it's facilities.
On the falling comment. I do mean a child in their sleep rolling about and accidentally falling rather than being thrown out by bad weather!
Oh my goodness!! We definitely don't want an granny flattening incident. I can't stop singing 'Grandma got run over by a reindeer' now🤣Thanks for your insight.

Just to supplement Port Royal's video link, if you look here, you'll find a photo of stateroom 5033 set up for three people. https://www.cruisedeckplans.com/DP/deckplans/stateroom-details.php?ship=Queen-Mary&cabin=5033. As you can see, it will be a tight squeeze for the four of you.
Agreed, it will be cozy but we will cope for 8 nights. We've travelled in an inside room with just the two of us and a balcony room. Value for money wise, the inside room will work for us. We don't think we'll all be in there very much except for sleeping. Thanks for the information.

Just out of interest to assist, one Googled and found a Utube video of 7 minutes showing a tour of the stateroom with the actual setup for 3 pax, which may help.
I googled and I guess I just wasn't putting in the right search criteria. Thanks for your time in finding this.

Hello everyone,
DH and I have cruised several times on the lovely QM2 and we're familiar with her layout. In July 2024 we are treating our 10 year old grandchildren to an EB TA with us and then some time in Europe. They are really good 😇😇 and like us, love dressing up for dinner and other special occasions. It must be in their genes.
Does anyone have pictures of an inside room set up for sleeping 4 people? I'm trying to work out if it's better for us to have a double bed configuration or two singles with the children above. I'm interested in where the ladders are placed for the top bunks. I know that some of you will recommend a balcony room or other upgrade to make things easier however there is only so much money in the pot so an inside room it is. 🙂
I understand it's not possible to post lot's of pictures or video of the children's clubs due to privacy but I would be interested in hearing from others who have taken 10 year old youngsters onboard and the type of activities that were provided. Social gatherings, special movie screenings, craft activities ...... that sort of thing. I believe there will be more children onboard due to the summer holidays so more activities may be available.
Thanks everyone,
Daisy

That is so sweet of you :). So far she seems to be very well looked after - but a Godiva or 2 may be needed in the future!
Happy to help if I can.

Has Cunard assisted with booking day 2 PCR tests for passengers choosing to fly? Having arrived Gatwick from Britannia this.morning Expresstest were turning people without bookings away. Do we have any idea how many took the flight option and are they sharing Britannia charter flights or on their own one?
Hello Megabear2,
I personally don’t have any knowledge of what was provided to those flying back to the UK or the numbers. Once they’re over their jet lag hopefully one of them can update us.
Captain Hall advised everyone this evening that crew members from Britannia are transferring to the QM2 and some crew members are leaving QM2.
QM2 is scheduled to leave tomorrow. QV will be in port with us overnight. Who knows, maybe we will sail back together. Looks like we could have us a convoy! 😂

One of the people I know on board was due to fly to the US tomorrow. She has just tested positive for COVID, and will be staying on board in an isolation balcony cabin. She will disembark in Southampton and fly home to the US from there.
I’m sorry to hear about your friend and wish them well. If you think there is anything they may need from the shops (I don’t know why but chocolate comes to mind) I would be happy to make any purchase’s and leave it at the pursers desk to be delivered following the onboard protocols.

I’m currently on the QM2 and after reading some of the recent comments I feel I’m in an episode of The Twilight Zone. It’s like I’m in the same place but in a different dimension.
There is no panic on board, just many understandably disappointed passengers who have had their travel plans disrupted. Captain Hall was very clear when he outlined the reasons for not stopping in NY. Anyone who chose to get off and fly to the UK have been given that option. As the flights to the UK leave, late, accommodation on board P&O Britannia has been arranged. I would call that excellent customer service but others may not.
The announcements have been completely adequate and those individuals affected have been notified by letter directly. From a couple we met onboard, they were given adequate notice that they were flying out today and Cunard have confirmed they will be laying on transport back to Red Hook if required once they arrive in NY.
At this time we have been given no information about our arrival into Southampton but this is a fluid situation. It would be pure speculation as to what awaits us. All I need to do is follow the safety protocols to keep myself and my fellow passengers safe. I truly don’t feel anymore exposed to anything on board than if I was in a supermarket.
Thank you to other posters who have wished everyone onboard a safe journey. For those who have highlighted it was an individuals choice to sail I wholeheartedly agree. Buried in the T&C’s for this cruise it highlighted the risks.
Are Cunard doing everything they can? IMHO yes. Do I need to know everything that’s going on in the background? Absolutely not. Do I really need to know exact numbers of positive tests and individuals quarantine arrangements? No, that’s personal health information and none of my business. If I’m affected I’m sure I’ll be told.
For those leaving today and tomorrow, I wish you all a safe journey. For those of us returning to Southampton, Keep Calm and Carry On.

We are also booked on the Feb 17th sailing from Bergen to London. We’re Canadian and have no clue if we will be able to board. Canada has digital vaccination certificates. Viking are still taking bookings from US and Canadian travellers.

Thanks for your response. It's C671 ...... Underneath the small Dining Room and the deck. Do you know what is in the central area of the ship on Deck 6? Maybe crew quarters? It's just a blank space on the deck plans.

DH & I are looking at an OV on the Prinsendam, mid ship main deck. I've read on another website that this is a noisy deck and least favoured. Can anyone shed any light on this? I don't know what's in the central section of the main deck as there's no description on the deck plans. Halfacts has no information. Any help much appreciated. Thanks

What Queenvee suggests is right. Go early when there is piped music or maybe a duet playing. There is also sequence dancing which is not that busy. We’ve only danced on the QM2 and QE and our preference is the QM2 Queens room. Have a fabulous time 🛳️
