  1. Some of us knew, others & yours truly here passee along the "rumor" email alerts on more than one thread here (one that I got from one of our TA's) at least a week before the expiration date when the rumbles began. Sorry to hear you wanted to book & missed it.

Even NCL's marketing send out their official email on the 29th/30th. as a reminder that it's ending.

What are the chances the promo will come back?

  2. Just off the Jewel and we had very calm seas the entire trip. I rarely had to take Bonine. My family and I did a bridge tour and the 2nd Officer confirmed there are stabilizers on each side at mid-ship.

    Hi,

Dont want to get too much off topic[emoji12]but did the Bonine ever get you drowsy?

  3. geez, sounds like you're already grumpy !

You asked for help, and I was trying to clarify the time frame since the responses were all over the place.

I WAS trying to be helpful .... but certainly not anymore.

Thanks for your attempt to be helpful. I just didn't take it too kind you telling me how I WILL arrive and what my mood is going to be. I apologize if I came off a little too strong.

  4. Why over complicate this?:confused::confused::confused::confused:

If you want to leave at 10pm just drive a couple hours and stop around midnight. Grab a hotel, get a good nights sleep and head out about 7-8 the next morning and you are still going to be there by 12-1pm and be well rested.

Thanks TruckerD. I wasn't trying to make it complicated. I simply just wanted to know if I left the Bay area before midnight, would I be ok. From all the helpful input I've been able to gather here(thanks to all the wonderful posters) I will take the I-5, keep tabs on the weather report, and have a backup route just in case. If I get tired which I highly doubt with all the anticipation and excitement about to occur, I still have 2 backup drivers in my party. Not to mention that I LOVE road trips!;) It means that I'm going somewhere:)

  5. But the reality is .... if you drive all night, you WILL arrive tired and grumpy.

What time do you get off work and what time does the ship depart?

Provide that information so that people can provide realistic options.

Last I checked you don't even know me so how do you know what condition or mood I'm going to be in when I arrive at port? Secondly, it's none of your business what time I get off of work. What are you a stalker? I already said in the original post I'm leaving at midnight, don't worry what time I get off of work.

  6. In a couple of weeks we are driving the same route, but the day before and staying over in Long Beach. I did consider driving on the same day, but thought it was a bit risky. However since you are leaving at 10pm, I think you will be fine. Just watch the weather closely and have an alternative route if it snows on the Grapevine. As you know we had so little snow this year the ski resorts in Tahoe are already closing.

Thanks for the the comment. I've done the day before arrival in the past but that was before I was transporting my own mobility scooter. I'll take everyones advice and have a backup route just in case.;)

  7. Doesn't the ship depart around 4pm?

Since this cruise is so far off ... why not watch for a good price on a flight to Long Beach and fly in the morning of. Arrive rested and ready for a good time, instead of starting your cruise tired and grumpy.

Thanks for the suggestion. But I'll be transporting a mobility scooter and I don't really trust the airport with the handling and transport of it. And there's no way I'll be arriving grumpy. :-) I'm sure I'll b smiling the whole drive down. And probably on pure adrenaline!;) I'll have plenty of time to recover my sleep when I get on board.

  8. You will only owe the balance remaining. It will never go up. If there is a price reduction, you can call and many times they will adjust the price downward if you do it before the final payment is made. :)

So should I wait to the last minute to make the final payment? just in case pricing goes down? or is there an advantage to paying the balance asap?

  9. You will keep your original price. Unless you choose to modify the booking to take advantage of some promotion that comes along. Then you would be re-priced to whatever rate was current at that time.

Thanks. I'm pretty much maxed out on the promotions NCL is offering since I'm getting a suite this time around;) so what if the original price goes lower?? Can I take advantage of that?

  10. Anything that comes out of the espresso machine at the coffee bar, or if you order an espresso drink during/after a meal. Brewed coffee in the buffet, MDR, Blue Lagoon, etc. is free. And some specialty restaurants serve French press coffee (no additional charge, this is included in the specialty dining cover charge).

Put another way, any (non-alcoholic) coffee drink that you normally have to pay for, you still have to pay for with the UBP.

Do they serve coffee at the bars/pubs?

  11. Hello :-)

I am looking into taking my mom on a cruise. She isn't wheelchair bound per say but she has issues with walking long distances and standing for long amounts of time. I was looking in to getting a fold up wheelchair and toting her around the ship but my question is for places like private islands do they have those special wheelchairs for rent that can go on the beach?

How hard is to navigate with a wheelchair and do people give you a hard time about that stuff? She's very self conscious about losing her mobility and some people have been quite cruel on the internet regarding overweight people in wheelchairs (she can't just get up in walk, she has a spinal problem that makes it super painful for long periods)

She also has an insulin pen, it doesn't require refrigeration but it does require little needles. If we brought an empty red box from home, would the crew be able to dispose of it after the cruise or would we have transport the sharps container home?

What ports do you find the most wheelchair friendly? And do people find it too troublesome to board a tender boat with a wheelchair? I wouldn't want her to board and debark on her own because of balance issues, I'd want her to do it in the chair or with assistance from crew.

I would recommend looking into renting a mobility scooter for your mom. You won't regret it. The ships are massive and require lots of walking if you really want to enjoy;) It would definitely give her freedom. Most Cruise lines have an Access desk number that you can call ahead of time to help you with all your disabled and access needs including having a Sharps container already in your cabin before you arrive.
