Don't give up on finding a beverage promotion. I booked a cruise out of Southampton on the Navigator shortly after the 2016 itineraries came out and I got a Buy one Get one half off cruise fare, buy one get one half off premium package plus some OBC. The Harmony was also eligible at the time, iirc.

I can answer about Athens: Everything is running smoothly except the ATM machines. Get your cash on board the ship or in a port prior to coming to Greece. Prices are down, but the merchants are desperate. The people who cater to tourists on the islands are being hit the hardest because the Greeks are not able to go on their own vacations.

The only thing that will be affecting a cruise guest from what I am hearing on the news (I live in Athens) is that there might be less of a selection when at restaurants.

If you are coming in August, I will assume that the government will try to have cleared things up as much as possible by then to get cash flowing again if they can because the majority of the Athenians usually travel to the countryside or to the islands that month.

Come to Greece! People are actually being kinder to each other :D

and they were pretty hospitable to tourists to begin with ;)

Oh, and as an added bonus: For this week at least but maybe longer public transportation is free in Athens :D

We've talked about the cow cabin with our kids (8&10) and how cool it would be to stay there but.... SURPRISE... we booked over a year ago when we saw it was available with its connecting cabin.

I am there in August! Please do post an update on your experience! :D :D Ben & Jerry's is sold at a very high premium where I live so my daughter is really looking forward to that, whereas I am looking forward to the other perks :p

Hi all! I live in an Athens suburb and I am affected by all of this going on here. Right now, people can get 50 - 60 Euros only from ATMs. This cash has the potential to dry up at any moment. Unfortunately for me, I do not have an ATM card, so my money dried up two days ago :p Anyway, what does this mean for the cruise traveller:

Get your Euros from an ATM at your departure port or another port stop before coming to Greece.

That's about it.

No matter what the situation here, we have a lot of pick-pockets. I had my wallet taken from my purse once, so now I hold on to my purse better. I haven't had any problems since and I am on public transportation 7 days a week. Be cautious and there won't be any problems.

Demonstrations are peaceful now. They also have been taking place in the evening, when most cruise passengers will have returned to the ships.

Greece in August? Worry more about staying hydrated! Let me put it this way, when I visit Florida in August, I do not think it is all that hot ;)

What are the benefits of doing this before first cruise, besides saving time on the cruise itself?

Ok, so it has been decided not to do the climb, but I still need to know about the bus! Is it a bumpy ride?

Granted the surgery will have been six months before the excursion, but please help me out if you can.

I need to know if the trail next to the falls themselves is very strenuous for someone with back problems.

Can someone go in and out from the trail next to the falls? Meaning, can they make a quick escape if they can't handle it or jump in on an 'easy' section?

Also very important: On an excursion with Royal Caribbean, how is the bus ride over? Is it smooth or very jarring?

I think the op is dumbfounded because she paid a price more typical of a larger, souvenir-cup drink. I find this price a little shocking and I think I will have to ask before I order when I come to Labadee this August.
