  1.

ps..hot air ballooning is fun ;)

Could be but it is on a list of things I will not be doing like: hang gliding, scuba diving, mountain climbing, logging, submarining, ziplining, volunteering to do anything in Detroit, working on an oil rig, running for office, eating liver or spending any more time than I absolutely have to in the company of 2 or more 13 year old girls talking on cell phones. : )

(Not that you are suggesting otherwise--- just further illustrating a point we agree on)

I am not stupid, close minded, lacking in courage, unwilling to challenge my assumptions or unmallable. I merely have a solid understanding of what my likes, dislikes, limitations and preferences are and these things contain one or more aspects that do not fit within the scope of things I wish to do. And yet, there are thousands of things I have not yet done and I could spend the rest of my life trying to experience it all and never finish.

In fact, the US is a large enough country with a wide range of climates, subcultures, events and attractions and I could spend the rest of my life trying to experience all that and never quite finish.

  2. I love the peeps that hate them but have never been on one.

I have never ridden in a hot air balloon. I will never ride in a hot air balloon.

Hot Air balloon fans say the same thing about me. "I've you've never been in one then you can't know how it will make you feel-- why do you hate the balloon?"

That merely shows a closed mind: the idea that someone cannot know themselves well enough to know what they would and wouldn't like.

Some folks know they would not like a cruise because they know themselves well enough to know this. Just because you disagree and they resist the prodding to 'admit they are wrong' does not mean they 'hate' anything or that they are in anyway incompetent or stupid.

  3. There's some good truth in there.

Also, as much as there are people in this forum who have had terrific experiences, it is certain that there have been some people who have had bad food, creepy porters, injuries caused by negligence, lost luggage--- all in one nice little bundle.

And that's one way someone can get pretty soured on a cruise. Almost any other vacation other than a cruise, if you don't like the service you can pack your stuff and walk across the street to their competitor. On a cruise if things go bad and you have trouble getting it fixed, you have almost no recourse.

  4. It's even more meaningless than that--- even if there was a 'none of the above' option, the collection method alone makes it meaningless. The results only apply to a tiny subset of cruise participants: those members of CC who are willing to take polls and happen to peruse the 'Ask a Question' section. That pool of participants does nothing to aid in collecting data that can be reasonably extrapolated to the general cruising public.

  5. ? Noro virus starts out as it goes on with gut crushing pain and constant vomiting and diarrheah it bears no resemblance to a cold.

I HAVE had it in the past and was hospitalized for it. My son, [on the opposite coast from me folks!] had it last week and again had to be hospitalized. in both cases they ran the lab tests to verify what it was.

By the way, neither of these times had anything to do with Cruising or any travel.

Not everyone experiences pain. Or constant streaming at both ends. One should avoid making blanket statements about how other people react to specific afflictions.

I, for instance, have had a noro and don't experience pain other than sore throat and bum from all the evacuation. Other people I've talked to (and even been infected from) find that their experience is weighted to one end or the other with varying amounts of accompanying fever, pain or chills.

However, nothing about noro ever made me feel like or look like I had a 'cold'.
