  1. Thanks to all for the responses. Called this morning and booked. Our assigned consultant is out until May 8th, but a very personable and informative lady named Tracy answered all my questions and is transferring the booking to our original agent. This first time direct booking with HAL was a good experience and we can now look forward to getting back to cruising again!

We haven’t cruised since 2019.  In the past, I have always booked with a local travel agency. Sadly, these businesses here closed due to circumstances of the last few years. I have tried several times to call the HAL PCC assigned to us, but he is away from the office. If I call the listed HAL phone number, will I be assigned a different PCC or will someone book my cruise and then turn it over to the original PCC? I have never booked directly with HAL before…always had a travel agent take care of details. This time I need to muddle through on my own.
I know I can book on-line but I have some questions and would prefer to speak with someone.

We love the water taxi too. Last time in FL, we jumped on in the morning after breakfast, did the whole northern route and then got off at Las Olas in time for lunch. After lunch, we got back on, switched to the Hollywood route and spent some time strolling up and down the broadwalk. We are hoping to do it again next time we are in FL.

We are staying at Embassy Suites in Dec.  Is it a safe and manageable walk to the water taxi stop at the Hilton Marina for mid 70’s seniors...especially after dark?

  4. There are several delay possibilities, the most common is that non-US guests do not report to US Customs promptly. The ship must be 100% cleared before anyone leaves.

The Veendam most likely will pull along side the pier at 6 am. Disembarkation usually starts at 8:15 am. This is a sample:

    Medical debark (ambulance)

    Isolated guests (if any)

Expedited disembark (carry own luggage off)

    Suites/4-5 Star Mariners

    HAL transfers (early flights)

    Early independent

    Mid independent

    HAL transfers (flights after 1pm)

    City Highlights Tour

    Late independent

    HAL transfers (late flights)

    Post cruise hotel transfers

    In transit guests

9:45 am All ashore - "Last call"

Sometimes the tours are called out of order, usually earlier.

I have two probably silly questions.....Does "In transit guests" refer to those on a B2B cruise and where "City Highlights Tour" is listed, does this mean a few tours are available for B2B guests or only those on transfers to the airport?

  5. Hmm. Doesn't list March 6,2013 when the Emerald departs FLL. Should I worry?

The timetable shows the Emerald departing on March 7th as well as on the Princess website. Are you perhaps arriving in FLL the day before your cruise and you have the dates confused?

  6. Shamrock..... We are going on a tour with vancouver tours in the afternoon. They have a 2:00 PM tour that lasts about 3-4 hours and is only $59/pp. You can go on their website and check it out, but this seems to be the best thing to do when you don't have a lot of time to see this beautiful city. Their website is: www.vancouvertours.com Enjoy!

I had checked out this site previously, but missed the fact that they had afternoon tours.......thought they were only available in the morning at 9:00 am. Thanks for the tip. This might be a possibility for us.

  7. Unfortunately, our chance to do any sightseeing is confined to just the few short afternoon and evening hours after arrival in Vancouver. Considering the price per person of the trolley and the fact that the last tour is at 4:00, I guess that kind of rules out that option for such a short time period. We won't be able to do any tours the following morning either. I guess we will have to settle for a walk to Harbour Centre for a view of the city or a quick trip to Stanley Park. Our original plan was for a few days stay pre-cruise with hopes of seeing all the highlights of the area........maybe someday we'll have another opportunity to visit Vancouver and do it up right!:)

  8. We had hoped to spend a few days in Vancouver to explore the city before our cruise to Alaska on Sept 12, but our plans changed and now we will be arriving the day before our cruise. Our plane gets in around 11:00 am and I figured we would possibly be at our hotel (Hyatt Regency) early afternoon. We are hoping to check our luggage at the hotel since I'm sure our room won't be ready yet. Anyone have a plan to suggest where we could see a few of the city sites in such a limited amount of time and what would be the "must sees" for that time frame? Nothing too hectic.......we're in our early 60's, but it will be a long, tiring travel day with an early flight from the east coast.:D
