  1. We haven't been on the Allure yet and are sailing on it this summer so it was very interesting to read about others' experiences on the Allure. We do sail most frequently on RCL, and have generally had no difficulty in finding other FODs.

Posting on the bulletin board can be helpful, but a lot of people don't know it exists until late in the cruise (especially if it's their first time on RCL). It would be nice if they posted on the Cruise Compass, but there have been times where having the flexibility of dictating the get togethers helped. On the two Transatlantics on Voyager-class vessels, there were so many FODs on board that we had 2-3 on the bulletin board for each day (one afternoon, one evening, and on late night in the disco). It wasn't until day 3-4 that people picked up, hence the longer Transatlantics were helpful. Not so helpful for a 7-day Allure cruise.

For us, when we've set it up, we frequently had to wait about 15-20 minutes after the scheduled time to eventually find people. I guess it's easier when there are two guys who are obviously sitting close together to gather other LGBT passengers. A little harder to identify if it's just one guy waiting for others. Maybe bring a small pride flag to plant on the table so others can find you?

  2. I've been on Princess, HAL, and Royal Caribbean. Favorite is Princess -- I was at the point that I was at times going for pizza even after dinner in the MDR.

Will be cruising Celebrity and NCL for the first time in the next year. Will let you all know if I change my mind.

Just got back from a Celebrity cruise and I made sure to try the pizza. Princess' pizza is still my favorite -- above Royal Caribbean, HAL, and Celebrity.
