  1. We had the similar situation with my MIL who is in the mid 80s. You can call ahead before the cruise, not necessary at booking and set up accommodations. When we went it is only a problem for her to be  standing for extended times. At embarkation we found an NCL representative and asked for assistance, they were able to quickly move us up to the lounge where she could sit until my wife waited in line and got to the front. She then joined us and we checked in. They do have wheelchairs available as well.

    We did not have problems with the excursions as we only picked excursions that she felt comfortable with.

  2. We also get both medical and cancellation insurance. My wife has a small business and if an employee or two are out she will have to cover and the vacation is cancelled. Flight and cruise are refunded by the insurance. Actually used the medical before had someone in the group sick and used onboard medical ($$$). Submitted receipts and everything was reimbursed. READ THE FINE PRINT, you get what you pay for. Spend a few bucks more if you need the coverage.
