  1. I am glad we are not alone in this. We are getting the same message in all 3 of our cruise bookings, and one of them (2016) does not even have the reservations open yet.

I was meaning to call RCCL about this, but if it is a common issue, I can live with seeing it at the top of the page.

Let' hope the SmartShip is smarter than the land based reservations system.

  3. We just signed up as well for our 27 Dec cruise. Thanks for the 'heads up' on this. Got an error on the first try, but went through on the second. Received a booking email, then a cancelation email, then another booking email. At least I see this now in our calendar, so it finally stuck.

Would be nice to see more of the activities there, and Guest Performers announced. This has become a very drawn out process... Still waiting with baited breath for the rest of the announcements (bars, shops, promenade, etc...)

  4. Thanks to the OP. I did not know this about the TP. It all makes sense. I have never brought my own TP, never have even thought about it, but there are those who would, and unintentionally create issues with the ship and others vacations.

    Good info.

    Cheers

  5. Interesting that your cruise shows MM at 7 & 9, the Dec 27 is showing MM at 2 & 8:30, and it is listed as a 2 1/2 hour show. I heard they were doing the complete show. And not a trimmed down cruise show.

It will be interesting to see how this pans out.

  6. I purchased art in January and heard from RCCL in about March. Filled out the paperwork and had a refund from RCCL a couple weeks later. I think RCCL did well be refunding the money even though the paperwork clearly stated it was Art Actually.

Granted, it was only a few hundred dollars for me. I would have been much more stressed and anxious had it been thousands.

I buy the art on board as a souvenir rather than an art investment.

I actually contacted the artist directly as I would like art, and I understand that the artists didn't fare so well with the demise of Art Actually.

  7. Our refund came through a few weeks after I submitted copies of my receipts. Mentioned I would prefer the art, but the refund just appeared on my credit card bill.

RCCL was really good about this. It's a shame they don't do it themselves. There's lots of money in this.

  8. With all the movement of ships, when will the finally reveal the rest of Quantum? I am booked on the NYE cruise, and still they haven't released all the details of the ship. Shops, entertainment details, the rest of the MORE TO COME labels on the deck plans..

    At least tell us when!

    Any more rumours?

  9. FYI

RCI has given Art on Royal the boot. They are refunding those who have bought and not received their art. It makes me wonder how the artist has faired in this.

Like some others, I thought Art on Royal was an RCI company, started in response to the bad history with Park West. I was wrong.

When I get my refund from a recent purchase I will try to get the art directly from the artist.

  10. I received the following email from RCCL today:

    -------------------------

Thank you for your recent cruise vacation with our company, Royal Caribbean International. It was truly our pleasure to welcome you onboard.

We appreciate that you purchased artwork from Fine Arts Auction, LLC., the onboard art concession operator during your cruise vacation. Regrettably, it has come to our attention that this service provider has experienced difficulties fulfilling the purchases made by our guests. Please note that we have suspended Fine Art Auctions’ operations throughout our fleet. We sincerely apologize for the frustration caused by these delays. As a company, we set a very high standard for the level of service provided to our guests by concession operators operating onboard our vessels and we regret that this experience did not meet those expectations.

Because you did not receive your artwork and you purchased your artwork onboard our vessels using your SeaPass account, we are happy to provide you a full refund for the purchase price of the artwork. Please complete the enclosed refund request form and return it to our corporate offices at the address provided above. You may also send the completed form to us via email to ArtResolution@rccl.com. Please allow four to six weeks for the refunds to be disbursed to the original form of payment.

We truly hope this unfortunate experience does not impact your positive impression of our company. We are committed to providing all of our guests a wonderful cruise vacation in all aspects, and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you onboard future sailings.

    -----------------------------------

To say I am unhappy is an understatement. Since I knew of issues in the past with that "other" art auction company, I was lead to believe Royal got rid of them and started their own version. With Royal in their name, I assumed Royal had more input and control over it now. I was definitely wrong.

Instead of making it right, and attempting to have these orders fulfilled (the Giclee bought is readily available, but at a higher price) they are simply offering a refund and distancing themselves from the situation.

I will be emailing them with my disappointment. I am glad they are taking some responsibility by offering a refund, but as this was billed as an auction, and you believed by spending this time of your vacation, you had the ability to acquire something at a bargain price. For us it was also a memento of the cruise and was an anniversary present for my partner. Now instead of looking back at this beautiful print, and thinking of the wonderful vacation, we will think about a shonky partner of Royal Caribbean.

Now that I got that off my chest, I am sure I will be over this quickly. Not the end of the world, and will probably buy the print from a gallery, although at a higher price. (I know, some of these pieces are cheaper on shore, but this one was definitely a bargain compared to the gallery price.)

Thanks for listening to me whinge.

  11. The pay-per-view suite perk was in January of Radiance of the Seas. So very recent, although some perks are on a ship by ship basis. Enjoy your movie! It never hurts to ask.

The old perk used to be a library of DVDs that you could borrow. But I guess keeping that up to date is very expensive. Besides, no more DVD player in our suite. I guess everything is going digital.

Ps. We also hade the Playstation as well and no games.

  12.

No more free movie channels on the tv.

First, I am loving this live review. You gotta love technology!

We too were disappointed the free movies were gone. Always loved at least spending one afternoon spending some time in the cabin watching a movie. We were in a Grand Suite and found out we were able to watch 2 pay per view movies each day free of charge. Another suite perk. They remove the charges on the last day of the cruise. Ask the concierge if this is available on NOS.

Can't see any pictures of your OS yet, and looking forward to these. Once you move up to the 'suite life' it is hard to go back.

    Thanks for your time posting.

  13. Seems strange, but the RCCL website is listing the NYE cruise (Dec 27 - 7 nights) as not available. Checked on another site and was still available.

Does this mean anything? Will keep an eye on it to see if it changes. I don't think it is sold out, but you never know. We have already booked on this cruise so hopefully no issues.

Sorry for the interruption.... Back to our regularly schedule programs......

  14. Wow. Am I the only one who is appalled with how the OP is being crucified for having a manageable chronic condition?

I think because I suffered for years with cluster migraines I understand that it is not life threatening and just something you live through.

I also understand the ship's concern, but really, a doctor should know better. If RCCL decided to error on being cautious with today's litigious society, that is their right. I only feel that they should refund the cruise fare because it was the cruise line that didn't want to take the risk. The OP knew very well what was happening and that it was not life threatening.

Yes, statements about never cruising with RCCL are extreme, but if you put yourself in her shoes, you would be upset too.

Let's say you had diabetes, should you not be allowed to cruise? Diabetes can be life threatening.

I am a RCCL fanboy, but I do think the OP deserves a refund.

Just my opinion, your mileage may vary.
