  2. We've been told David has left O after getting married. Had many enjoyable voyages with him and his shoes.

Was told that he is setting up a new business! Same source did not say he was married but he did have a girlfriend! This from a source working onboard Riviera.

  3. Leslie Jon is on the Riviera at the moment. I believe he embarked a couple of weeks ago. I'm posting this as there have been conflicting reports as to where he is or will be.

Just got off the Riviera....he was onboard and apparently, will be on the Riviera for the next while.

  4. We are on the Singapore to Bali Feb cruise and Azamara is telling my TA that on the ship they arrange your Indonesian Visa. They will charge to your on board account. Has anyone had this experience as we are nervous about traveling without the Visa until we embark on the cruise, yet this makes things very easy as you do not have to send off your passports anywhere.

Was on theJourney in April. Azamara did the visas onboard and our ship account was charged 25USD per person.

  5. I was online looking at the 2016 itineraries and saw that there was a TA from Athens to Miami. When I went to book it, it was not there so called Azamara directly and was told that it was taken off for pricing issues and to look again in the fall when it would be back. Thought it a little strange!!! One would think that the reservation staff would be given accurate information to relay to clients. Don't know what to believe:confused:

  6. In 2009, we took our first Azamara cruise and thought it good but certainly not the level of Oceania. This was before Azamara rebranded and became almost All Inclusive. Last year, I called Azamara and discovered that we had 2 points accumulated in the loyalty program for that cruise taken in 2009. Liking the benefits of their program, we booked a Christmas cruise as well as a b2b to be taken in April. These cruises were booked in June/July of 2013. By my calculations and those of our TA, we would qualify for extended benefits on the second cruise of the b2b because we would have 5 points. Imagine my surprise when I called Azamara yesterday to find out that this is not the case. The cruise we took on the Quest at Christmas was not part of the old program but calculated as part of the new program...instead of getting 1 point under the old program we were awarded 24 points under the new program. This has impacted our b2b second leg cruise in that we will not be getting the free laundry, the extra internet minutes and other inclusions. Never was there any mention of this when we talked to the Ambassador onboard and we even questioned her on the loyalty program when we made yet another booking for 2015. Needless to say, we are most disappointed with Azamara as they have not been upfront with their passengers or travel agents who sell their product. Our travel agent knew nothing of this until I told him. I was told by the Azamara agent that she would call me after she had talked to Marketing but I doubt that will happen....I am still waiting!

  7. Why dont you add on Myanmar to your itinerary pre cruise? We are doing precisely that post a Crystal Cruise in 2015. Bagan is a must see and you will need more than a couple of days in any case.

That would have been an idea, but we are visiting our son in Shanghai for a week prior to the cruise! Another time perhaps!

  8. We have been loyal Oceania passengers since 2006. Over the years, we have seen their pricing increase to the point where we are wondering if we are going to be able to afford more cruising with them. Their wine pricing has also increased greatly and the corkage on bringing your bottle of wine to the dining room had an increase of 5USD from March of this year.

Azamara seems to us to have more competitive pricing as was shown in their promotion earlier this year...pay for an inside and get a balcony. A great saving combined with the included gratuities, wine and beer, free laundry facilities and a set number of Internet minutes. Although the air is not included, one can book their own flights with Choice Air and the pricing is very competitive. Not using Oceania air gives one a small rebate and relying on their choice of carrier does not give you any flexibility, unless, of course, you pay for an air deviation at the cost of 300USD ( for 2).

We are booked on Azamara at the end of this month and also doing a b2b from Singapore to Athens in the Spring. We had been booked on Oceania from Bangkok to Rome for the same time frame but after doing a cost benefit analysis, decided to cancel Oceania .... The difference made it very worth our while. Unfortunately, we will not be going to Mynamar but the additional cost was not worth it.

  9. We also were on the Riviera disembarking on the 29th November. Fortunately, we did not get ill with either the Norwalk Virus or the sore throat and cold which traveled around the ship. I did talk to someone at the airport who had been to see the doctor because he had been sick with the Norwalk Virus and although he had been given medication he was not charged.

The crew on board the ship did their best to contain the virus. Ice buckets were removed from the cabins, someone was on duty outside of all the restaurants to make sure that hands were disinfected upon entering and departing these venues and at the buffets, only the servers were allowed to touch the serving utensils.

The CD announced at Trivia a few days prior to arriving in Miami that the USA would not allow the pencils in the country and they would have to be disposed of. There was no reason given.

The ship was not inspected by the CDC upon arrival and we disembarked without incident.
