  1. Yes they do when you board for both Countries. I double checked our passports

we did these ports last Christmas, when you receive your itinerary it will tell you

in writing. The only port that we have to get our own is India and believe me that

is a nightmare, my T/A tells me passengers have cancelled their booked cruise

    because of the problems

  2. We loved reading your opinion of Crystal and agreed with everything you said.

We have sailed with them many times and we spent the Millenium on the 'Harmony when it was in their fleet, which was the cruise of a 'life time' outside the harbour in Rio.

We, like you enjoy cruising, we now have Christmas cruise no. 46 coming up this year

many on Crystal and they are still the top for that time of the year.

We thoroughly recommend Seabourn to you having 30 cruises with them with many things similar to Crystal.

We live on a small Island with 152 ships calling and the 'Symphony' is calling here

this month and next. We intend to go to the harbour just to see it.

  3. Have to agree with EVERYTHING you have said. During the '90s we sailed with SS many times and enjoyed every one, and since then Crystal and Seabourn are equal No.1

We returned to SS, as we liked the itinerary, and decided to do the Christmas cruise

which turned out to be a disaster as far as we were concerned. Smoking was advertised

as not allowed however it was everywhere and despite complaints to Hotel Manager

they never did anything. Never again.

  4. Hi Miss Jet Set

Thanks for your very thorough reply. Is that 46 Christmas Days on board?! We will be on Sojourn. Can't wait!

Yes we are once again spending Christmas on Sojourn as

    well.

No. 46 is Christmas & New Year Cruises altogether we have been on

70 cruises I have long lost count of how many days

  5. Thanks Roxburgh. It sounds wonderful. Sorry you can't make it this year.

Do guests do any cabin decoration or exchange cards? Do they give their cabin steward a gift? Is there anything I need to remember to pack?

Does everyone gravitate towards the dining room for Christmas lunch, or is the main event actually in the evening?

    Is there a carol concert/service?

Is Boxing Day a pretty normal day (apart from the bigger hangovers!)?

I'm sure I have loads more questions but this will do for now thanks [emoji951][emoji319]

I will try to answer some more answers to your questions that have not

    already been answered by Ravenscroft.

Yes quite a few do decorate their doors I am one of them,

Last Christmas we had three formals and being a holiday cruise

quite a few did dress up most nights.

Carol Services - Always took place at Midnight Mass

There has always been one 'Galley Lunch' which I think has

taken place New Years Day - with a huge

    a huge dessert display.

Yes you will find a Present on your bed on Christmas Eve

Giving a present to your Stewardess I assume some do it is up to

    the individual.

I think I have answered most of your questions, it is a wonderful

way to spend Christmas, this coming one will be our number 46

and we have enjoyed every one. Which ship will you be on board?

  6. -no smoking in Observation Lounge

-upgrade the dress code and enforce it

    -add a few more activities

    -upgrade entertainment

    -padded pool deck loungers

    -more varied Colonnade offerings

    - In the Club most evenings the Entertainment staff take over

the dance floor which does not leave much room for the passengers.

Their excuse - they say it is to encourage more guests onto the floor.

  7. If I can be of any help with suggestions what is worth seeing in

Guernsey, I live here however I have nothing to do tourism but my

husband and I cruise a lot and sometimes it would have been nice to have

    suggestions.

No.1 - The around the Island bus gets good reports.

No.2 - Little Chapel at Les Vauxbelets very picturesque

No.3 - German Museum (not far from little chapel) all the

    memorabilia from the Occupation

    (This I was impressed with)

I will keep my fingers crossed for the sun to shine.

    Wishing you all 'Bon Voyage'

  8. We have shopped with the Chef in many ports and from what I have read in the

previous posts it must depend on the Chef. Any port where fish was purchased it

was always on the menu in the Veranda on the same day. Also exotic fruits, last

August it was Greek Yogurt (best we have ever tasted) we all had a spoon to

sample it in the shop. Mumbia he spent over one hour choosing spices,

Sardines are one of my favourites and I definitely had them on our return for lunch.

Which ever ship you will be sailing with I know you will enjoy the experience.

  9. Although we are big Seabourn fans when it comes to dancing we have

found it does depend which ship we are on. The little Seabourn ships

the dancing in The Club have always been enjoyable with the bands however the 'Quest' we found very different and did not enjoy the bands and

dancing around the 'poles' spoilt the evenings in The Club for us.

So you have till the 4th April to have the experience of the 'Legend' on

    its last voyage.

Crystal has always been enjoyable and we have danced many times on all

of their ships (even when they had three) no hesitation to return to them.

    Bon Voyage whichever you choose.

  10. The 'Legend's' final voyage - Captain Pedder told me he will be aboard, Simon Gillespie

will be the CD. David Green will be the Guest Entertainer (back to where he started)

with regard to the Entertainment - whenever there is an entertainer in the show lounge

or a show of any kind there is NO music in the Club at all. The only thing open is the

bar - this applies to the 'Spirit' as well.

Apparently any kind of music in the club has to wait till the other show is over before

    they can start.

We left the 'Legend' two weeks ago after another great cruise and we are expecting the final

voyage to be just as good.

  11. We were on the same cruise and enjoyed shopping with Jes. He is a great personality

and came to the dining room every evening to enquire did we enjoy dinner.

Another great port to go shopping is Mumbai, the chef spent one hour choosing spices.

Milliemeter, we have been on the Australia cruise quite a few times but do not remember

that ever being advertised. I would think due to Australia's stringent rules about

taking food on or off the ship could be the reason.

  12. We were in South Africa last year so I have just checked our passports to see what

was stamped in them. We have a half-page stamp from their government and it is

called a Temporary Residence Permit which I obviously obtain from the S.A. Embassy

in London. We were on the ship for the whole trip and not seeking residence at any time.

Cape Town was the best port, we would love to return there.

    Good Luck.

  13. We are on the same cruise and have done it quite a few times. AS we spend two days

before in an Hotel we take the Water Taxi to the pier and Seabourn baggage handlers

take the luggage from the taxi and the next time you will see it is in your stateroom.

With SB it is 'first class' from start to finish.
