  1. Hello. I've contacted the highly-rated Original Berlin Walks, http://www.berlinwalks.de, about a small, active, private excursion to Berlin.

    From their description...

"With a pick-up directly from the cruise terminal the driver will take us to Berlin in air-conditioned comfort, providing everyone with a complimentary bottle of water, and allowing for a small break as well during the 2.5-3 hours drive on the Autobahn from the coast to the city.

The guide would join you upon arrival in Berlin and start approx. 7 hours of sightseeing at beautiful Charlottenburg Palace. We will certainly not let you leave Berlin without having seen the Brandenburg Gate, Checkpoint Charlie, the Berlin Wall, the site of Hitler’s bunker and many other places big and small. As the driver will be at your disposal the whole day you can also easily choose how much walking and driving you would like to do.

As all our guides are trained historians as well as long-term residents of Berlin and all of them lovers of the city, there is nothing you cannot ask them and relying on their experience you can be sure that you won’t miss anything in this big city. You will probably even find yourself repeating many odd facts and entertaining stories that you have picked up during the day with us to your friends back home. It goes without saying that all the guides are fluent English-speakers – and just as efficient in German."

For six people, the total price is €1140 including the driver and a minibus for the day, up to 7 hours with our guide, and all taxes and insurance. Not included are lunch, drinks, and snacks. Any museum admissions would also be additional, but frankly I don't think there's much time for any quality museum visits.

Sounds like a very comprehensive itinerary, however, we've already been to Berlin. I think our day in Warnemunde will be spent on a local tour.

    Thanks,

    Bob

  2. Arrived safely in Taormina Friday afternoon after a few jittery moments of possible lost luggage. Luggage was misplaced in the baggage area but found before panic set in. Weather is beautiful here in Sicily as it is forecasts to be all week. Today is going to be total relaxation after travel.

See you all on the Reflection.

  3. For those of us who live in the tropics. (i.e. South Florida), and closely follow the hurricane season, it's been almost non existent. The likelihood this year is extremely low. The Cape Verde (off Africa) season is about over which leaves a Gulf formation. With that said, expect that it could happen.

  4. Countdown. 47 days to go!! We leave on October 24 for a pre cruise week in Sicily. So looking forward to the week and then meeting all of you on Reflection.

What is Carambola and what are planning for the day? We haven't even planned for Tenerife. Any been there and recommend a tour?

  5. How do you guys pack for two to three weeks cruise and pre cruise if you're not flying first class? We're in Italy one full week before November 1st. Its not going to be all warm weather until we get far south. More clothes. I really thought we would skip the whole dress up thing in an effort to save space. We're planning one suitcase each and a carryon weighing less than 8 kg. I assume we will go to a specialty restaurant on formal nights. Bill and I just returned from twelve days in NJ with family. We each had almost 50 lbs and that was all mid summer clothes.

    So what's the packing secret?

  6. Thanks for all your comments concerning the specialty restaurants. We aren't in the "blu" dining category so most likely, we will be purchasing the specialty package. Hope some of you will be joining us in the MDR some evenings.

This cruise will only be the second Celebrity cruise and first TA. It will be somewhat of an experiment as we haven't spent this amount of time cruising and days at sea. Prior to booking, I checked the boards to see where gay travelers were cruising this year when I found this thread and cruise. Many of you seem to be experienced TA cruisers, so we're looking forward to seeing what it's all about. Also, look forward to meeting. Is there a designated spot where everyone is gathering once we leave Rome?

We are planning one week in Italy prior to the cruise. We will be arriving from Sicily on the morning of November 1st.

    Looking forward.
