  1. Hey everyone!

We have a 4 year-old and 7 year-old and would want to bring the kids on a cruise. I am wondering about the kid's club. I know my 7 year-old would have a club to go to, but what about the little one? I know they have the youngest group closed, but I don't see anything about 4 year-olds and if they can be in kid's club. Any insight would be helpful!

    Thanks!

  2. Hey everyone. My family and I are booked on the Odyssey of the Seas for 2/20/2022. Our two boys are 7 and 3 and the oldest is currently fully-vaccinated, while the little guy is not. We went on an MSC cruise in October, and we were required to book boat excursions in order to get off the boat. Is it the same for RCCL? I understand it may depend on the countries you'll be stopping at (Mexico for this cruise), but I was just wondering if we were required to get excursions to get off the boat, or if we (as a family of four with one unvaccinated kiddo) can just walk off the boat and do what we want. Thank you!

Maybe a stupid question, but why are so many people buying these at home test kits (and often buying multiples per person due to quality control issues) when rapid tests are available at many pharmacies and cost nothing with your insurance?

Is this a regional thing where some pharmacies don't have these available or it's difficult to get an appointment?

I'm also wondering this. We went on a cruise last month and almost 2 weeks in advance made appointments for rapid result antigen tests through CVS. Results came back within 2 hours. Maybe people don't have access to pharmacies that are doing rapid tests?

  4. I’m on the October 16 sailing and my husband and I booked two rooms back in February. After reading on this forum about chosen rooms being taken away, I called. Turns out we WERE on deck 9, but they took every cabin back for quarantine purposes. My parents room was reassigned, but MINE was not, it’s set at G0000 or something, basically guaranteed. My parents are older and we booked our room near each other on purpose, as they’ll be helping out with my kids so my husband and I can go do stuff. I’ve called a few times and they can’t assign me a room! They keep trying and even finding rooms near each other to move us to, but the system won’t let them! It’s so frustrating! I just don’t get how my parents were reassigned an actual room but we were not and CANNOT get reassigned.

Why do people continue to think that they will be allowed to board if they test positive for Covid regardless of their excuses and history ? Have people lost their minds? Stay away ……

I suppose the CDC making guidelines for cruise travel for this exact scenario means nothing. Apparently, if you provide positive test results and letter from medical provider/county health department clearing you of infection, you should be eligible to get on the cruise, since you’re no longer contagious. I’m sorry you don’t understand this.

The CDC has a policy in place recommending no testing for 3 months after a positive test. Am currently waiting for confirmation for a client that MSC will accept the "documentation of recovery" mentioned below and is found here: https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/notices/covid-3/coronavirus-cruise-ship

Information for people who recently recovered from COVID-19

    • If you tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 3 months and met criteria to end isolation, you do NOT need to get tested before or after cruise travel unless you have symptoms. CDC has found that people can continue to test positive for up to 3 months after they had COVID-19 and not be infectious to others.
    • Travel with a copy of your positive test result and a letter from your healthcare or a public health official that states you have been cleared for travel. The positive test result and letter together are referred to as “documentation of recovery.” If you are asked by officials in a foreign country, you may be required to show this documentation.
    • You also do NOT need to self-quarantine after cruise travel if you have recently recovered from COVID-19, even if you are not fully vaccinated.

This is very helpful! I’m on the October 16 sailing on the Meraviglia and my husband and I both tested positive for Covid last week. We’re both fully vaccinated, but attended a wedding that turned out to be a super spreader. My husband no longer has symptoms, I almost have no symptoms and we’re wondering about this regarding our upcoming cruise. Is MSC going to explicitly follow these CDC guidelines or are they going to still require a negative Covid test for us?

       I would double check that..

Even before the covid, most cruise lines would not let you leave your kids onboard & then leave.

That in itself is a lot of liability for the cruiseline.

I will double-check that for sure. We took my oldest on a Royal Caribbean cruise when he was 3 and he stayed in kids club while we went onto the private island for a few hours. His grandparents picked up him later actually, not even us. But for sure I'll check that. Either way, I don't mind having to pay for excursions if we need to.

  8. I spoke with MSC a few hours ago, we're going on the Meraviglia on October 16, and we're bringing our 6 and 3 year old and also my fully vaccinated parents. My husband and I are also fully vaccinated. She told us that in Ocho Rios and Nassau, we can only get off the ship with our children by booking an excursion through the boat. Or she said we could leave the kids in the kid's club on the boat and go ashore without having to book excursions.

  9. Are they no longer doing covid testing at the pier? This would be BEYOND convenient if they would continue doing this. We're on this boat on October 16, and I'm bringing my kids and my parents and the coordinating of testing for everyone no more than 3 days prior to sailing is a hassle. Testing everyone at the pier would be so convenient!

  10. I would go with connecting balconies if you can do it. I understand it would be a little nerve-wracking to leave children alone in a balcony room, but there's a lock at the very top of the door that's somewhat difficult to open and close.. so it's not like a small child can easily open the balcony door is what I'm saying. Our 3 year old took full advantage of Adventure Ocean. He never did the meals with the staff there though.

Regarding the pool area and amenities, the iFly, surfing thing, rock-climbing and bumper cars are all free. Your littliest should be just fine in the teeny baby pool, splash pad area, with swim diapers. I saw tons of little babies with swim diapers in those areas, and none of the workers were saying anything.

  11. I feel like I am perfectly-equipped to answer this question! We just got off the Anthem this morning and my son turned three on the day we left (Feb. 9). We had started potty training JUST for this trip, on Dec. 1... and within two weeks (if that), he was fully potty trained (nights and naps too). If you think your child will have an accident, just use one of the training pants underwear. Also, they will give you a phone and can call you if your kid poops and needs help wiping. We left our son in Adventure Ocean at least one session a day, and usually every 7-10 session. He had a blast and keeps talking about it! It gave us sanity and a much-needed break =)
