If you are talking about Mayo Beach then a word of caution. Be guided by the number and size of ships in port with you. We tried to do that pre-covid and the road congestion was an absolute nightmare. Even with a 4 hour window we abandoned that plan and had our taxi turn back to Philipsburg. If you look at map you will see there is only one road to that side of the island, I’m guessing you don’t plan on being at beach bar into the evening.

Is Mayo Beach the one by the airport where the planes come above your head as they are about to land? That's where we are hoping to go. The airport seems to be about 4 miles from the port but I don't have a feel for how long it would take to go back and forth.

  2. We are sailing on the Ovation from Sint Maarten on Feb. 11.  We don't sail until 11:00 pm.  While my husband and I are flying in the day before we sail, the other couple we are traveling with don't arrive until 1:00 pm on our departure day.

We would all like to go to the bar by the airport to watch the planes come in after our friends arrive and I'm trying to figure out the best way to do that.  Should we check in for the cruise, deposit our bags, etc., then leave to go to the bar and return to the ship afterward?  That's our inclination but I wanted to make sure we would be allowed to leave the ship on our arrival day after checking in.

I'd love anyone's thoughts on the best way to accomplish this, or to know that our plan won't work for some reason.

    Thanks!

My understanding is that it is the same one or two  labs that do the tests whether at the airport or elsewhere. They guarantee you will get an email with the results the next day.  So, 🤞

That's good to hear.  I was going to ask if the tests at the airport were PCR tests, but I see in your initial post that they are.  Thanks very much for the info!

  4. Does anyone have any info about other places that one can get a PCR test in Athens?  My mother arrives on Wednesday and departs on the Ovation on Saturday.  They are planning to get tested at the airport upon arrival but we are thinking they should get an additional test or two in case the airport one doesn't come back in time to board the ship on Saturday.

    Would appreciate any guidance.

  5. Regarding the shore excursion cancellation policy - Our TA told us that the policy is that you have to cancel 4 days before sailing in order to get a full refund. That is much more strict than we experienced with Seabourn on our last trip, but that was 5 years ago.

Can anyone provide any more insight on what the policy is? Does it vary trip to trip, or excursion to excursion? I don't plan to cancel any, but with 4 of us traveling together I definitely want to have a handle on what our options are.

    Thanks!

  6. Hi all - I am booked on my second Seabourn cruise this summer (10 day Mediterranean Jewels, departing on July 8). On our first cruise in the summer of 2010, we had a marina day which we absolutely loved. My travel agent is under the impression that we won't have a marina day this time. I had thought that marina day was fairly standard. Does anyone know whether Seabourn regularly schedules cruises without a marina day, or is my TA likely to just not have all the facts yet?

Thanks very much for any insight!
