  1. Sorry about previous post.
I wanted to say:    I have never done the thermal spa before but decided to do it for my Icon cruise next August.  I had to sign up for a time for the first day.  I was wondering about this exact issue. Will I be required to sign up for a time each day or go within the hours open?  Could I go multiple times a day?   What exactly does the thermal spa include.  It seems things vary from ship to ship and which class of ship you’re on.  I will have to wait to see what people post once the ship starts sailing but am curious to hear more from this thread.

  2. 12 hours ago, Foodluvr said:I have never done the thermal spa before.  I’m going on Icon next August.  I was required to sign up for a time for the first day of the cruise.  I was wondering about this same thing.  Will I need to reserve a time every day or just be able to go within hours.  As Icon isn’t sailing yet I’m just listening to these responses and it seems things vary by ship and class.
  3. So enjoying your review and can't wait until you get time to continue.  Your pictures at Coco Cay are incredible.  The first and only time we have been to Coco Cay was in November of 2009.  It was our first cruise.   I have a fantastic picture with my two girls, a cruise favorite to this day.  We've missed Coco Cay since its renovation twice due to the weather and pandemic.  Now my girls are both leaving for Japan for 3 years and it will have to wait.  Your review is wonderful and you will look back and really see just how 'perfect' it was as the years go by.

    Thank you again,

  4. Thank you for your insights on your cruise.   Congratulations on your retirement!

I so agree with the two top tables.   My husband had to request a change in table one night on Freedom as we were almost sitting in the laps of the people next to us.

We will be on Allure again in February of 2020.  I am looking forward to another cruise on her.  We are also looking at a Carnival Magic cruise in August of 2020.  It would be our first on Carnival after turning diamond on Royal.  Thanks for your brief inputs in comparisons.

  5. We are on Anthem in June with a party of 12.   RCI said they could not make us reservations in advance plus it would only accommodate up to 10.  Also they could not make advance reservations because rooms are cross referenced.?????   However they said see the Maitre D immediately when on board and they could then accommodate us.    Right now only 5:30 or after 8 showing up as available times.   We will end up eating in WJ I am sure for a few days with schedule conflicts at those times.   Oh well.

  6. So sorry to hear about Trainman-2's passing.  Every time I read a review from him, I thought of my father.  It is so nice and thoughtful of you to do a tribute in his honor.   He touched so many lives through his reviews.

Looking forward to your trip report.  I want to cruise on Symphony next and we are doing this itinerary out of Miami on Allure in April.   Can't wait to read more.   Enjoy and Happy Sailing!

  7. Well that is surely not a good way to start off your trip.  It is no fun waiting for your room that long.  Hope things smooth over for you both and your cruise is a great one.  We will be on Allure April 14.  Can not wait for our 3rd time on her.

Looking forward to reading along.  We are in the single digits and below zero this week if that’s any consolation.

  8. Fantastic!!!   What an amazing and thorough review and trip report.   I am really impressed with your pictures.   The ship looks amazing.   Symphony will be on my 2020 list as we are going on Allure and trying Anthem for the first time next year.

Thank you for your time and for taking the time to answer everyone’s questions.

    Bravo and continued safe travels,

    Barbara

  9. Thanks for the heads up. I was waiting on this to buy my tickets from MCO to Philly but most nonstop flights are already very high or sold out..:(

Chicago to Ft. Lauderdale were also crazy but it is weekend before Easter and Easter Sunday. I'll get away flights or cheapest flights are blocked out. We were on website within 10 minutes of them opening.

  10. Really enjoying your review. You have a great way of writing your thoughts and being very honest about all that you experience. I will be on Allure in April next year after her move to Miami although Ft. Lauderdale is our favorite port so far. I hope the third time is better than the last two for me but hubby and DD love Allure so we are making another go before Anthem next June. Enjoy the rest of your cruise. I will be reading along after I go back to work tomorrow for the first time in 2 months!

    Happy sailing,

    Barbara

  11. Just did a b2b on Freedom July 7-21. The no drinking in pool was the only thing we didn’t care for. Loved the ship, the crew, and Kelly the piano player in the schooner bar. Is she glitzy like Harmony - no. But the itinerary was fabulous for the 2 weeks. Capt. Bustos was great keeping us up to date on our travels. Promenade cabin was fine and deck 2 cabin I felt no motion at all. Loved that. I am pretty easy to please though. I didn’t feel the ship was run down at all and crew was always polishing, dusting, varnishing, etc.

  12. After reading op’s post only, I’ll comment on that and what I witnessed in the MDR on a b2b on Freedom out of San Juan.

For the most Parton the 4 formal nights we saw tuxes and very nice suits, dresses, and pants suits. Casual and Caribbean night was a mix of dresses, jeans, khaki shorts, polos, t shirts, and gym shorts with flip flops. None of that affected me at all.

My aggravation stemmed from a woman wearing booty shorts on formal night and being allowed in dining room, men wearing baseball caps during a sit down dinner, and the people having loud conversations on Walkie talkies subjecting everyone who were peacefully dining around them to their nonsense.

In essence, most anything can go in the MDR clothes wise but to me those 3 scenarios were unacceptable and went beyond what is tolerable and respectful to other diners and waitstaff.
